The video correctly identifies that excessive spectacle often dilutes character-driven depth, suggesting that flashy combat can become a hollow substitute for genuine psychological growth. It’s a sharp reminder that in high-stakes storytelling, the most impactful battles are usually the internal ones.

Hazbin Should'nt Have Fight ScenesAdded:
Remember when this show was about redemption? Yeah, I barely do either.
We've become so far detached from what the original premise was, especially in the second season. Now, when Alister was about to deal with Vox, before he did so, for whatever reason, he decided he's going to fight with all three of the V's. First off, he knows his staff is broken and he's he's at a disadvantage, but also we know that he's striking this deal with the purpose of making sure Vox doesn't touch Charlie in mind. You You can't really even make the argument that this fight needed to happen in order to get Vox to have a reason to make a deal.
>> [music] >> I think Charlie is already good enough.
The whole battle feels more like a an excuse to show off some cool visuals and to try to prove that the show is badass on some level. No shade to the animators themselves. Truly, I do think they did a great job making it look pretty.
Unfortunately though, the battle's coordination feels a little bit bland and even some of the abilities, they're a bit uninspired at times. Alister himself has the worst of it. His feel like a a soup of just whatever powers someone gives her edgy villain OC, which I mean, we're all guilty of when when you're a kid and you're first making characters, you decide to just sort of throw in whatever. But, you know, this is an official show with a very high budget and a whole team behind it. The powers that I guess make sense are the voodoo voodoo dolls themselves. His demonic form consists of him being big [music] and his antlers growing. He can project a green shield too, don't you forget that.
He's got the ability to hide in his shadows, kind of like Facilier. I mentioned that in my last video on him and he has tentacles for some reason.
Why was he given tentacle powers? Well, I'd say they're there for gooner art or the edge factor. Probably more of a Slender Man reference than anything.
Vox's powers are a bit bland too.
General electricity that scales with his approval rating because he's a Trump parallel and we have to have him have an approval rating now. I find his non-fighting powers way more interesting though. The the hypnosis and the ability to mimic people, I find that makes for so many more interesting conflicts in the show. Of course, he's just an iPad now, so we'll probably see we'll probably not see more of his powers for quite a bit, unless he gets a new body and that new body comes with new powers or something. Valentino was the biggest disappointment of this battle. His ability is just sort of have a gun. His smoke makes it harder to see, which I I guess it's supposed to be a play on how he has bad eyesight, so he blinds his enemies too, I guess, but is that is that the best you could think of for him, really? Husk has magician tricks and >> [music] >> I like Velvet's thing of her weapons appears when her followers vote enough on the polls that she puts in her live streams. I I almost guarantee an anime did this first, but I haven't seen enough to know that.
Callback to season 1, what was Charlie's powers? She becomes a generic demon [music] demonic girl. Razzle Dazzle turn into dragons, which is pretty neat, I guess. I don't want to be too hard on her powers because we I'm going to assume that we're going to see more and that she was just holding back in that final battle for whatever reason, even though it was Adam coming down from heaven about to destroy the hotel. I think she should have gone all out.
Lucifer too, I'm getting the sense that he held back, which is interesting interesting of a move or possibly, you know, my other theory she's never used her powers before. She's never been in a fight like this. So, she doesn't know the full extent of them, maybe. That could be another explanation for why we didn't see her go all out. Adam's abilities, I think are pretty BS too, though. If he can just casually blast a beam and completely disintegrate disintegrate Serpentine, then why why did we have any of this fight?
Did we really need all the exorcists and all the demons to be here? Why can't he just beam everything and just eliminate >> [music] >> the threats all together and just go back up to heaven? I'll stop myself there and get back to my point, but you understand my frustration here, I'm sure. Moving on, Hazbin Hotel having these grand epic fight scenes is a little bit ridiculous to me, to be quite honest. In Helluva, it would have made sense because that's about assassinations and fighting in the first place. But, why does Hazbin have such a heavy war focus? A friend and I were looking through the the early drafts before, you know, season 1 came out and we see what the show could have been and I liked it so much more than what we actually got. It felt more like we would get a new sinner added to the cast each episode. We'd learn a bit about them.
Baxter would have a bigger role. Mimsy would actually stay at the hotel and and watching the hotel grow organically would have been so much more satisfying.
And then in the final season of the show, we could have had the build up to Charlie meeting Adam in the big war with heaven. Should have waited until maybe one of the the final seasons or maybe even in the middle, but just not at the beginning. We could see Charlie worked hard for everything. Like we could have seen how hard that Charlie worked for everything and then just to have it all be torn down and destroyed at the end.
Lucifer could have had a more natural character turnaround and we could have seen all the other hotel patrons help with rebuilding. Then after they rebuild, more sinners see how much of the population believes in her cause and they also want to give redemption a shot. They think, maybe I'll be able to see my family up in heaven again and that could like that could have just naturally been built up to. This could lead into Vox's grand villainy where he uses the TVs in the guest rooms to spread propaganda and he could be the the final villain or one of the last villains at least. Challenges God themself and he he'd be seen very much as in the right by the people. Despite the time that everyone spent working on this redemption and building up this hotel, the angels still inevitably come down to attack. These early seasons need to be character focused, I think and sadly two felt like a waste of time.
Aside from Vox, everyone seemed to go on the same sort of arcs as they did before or we just relearned the same traits that we already knew. For season 3, I'm really hoping that they reel it back in.
The whole family premise, that has me a bit hopeful that it's going to focus on the characters and we're going to learn about them and maybe figure out what what's going to have them get redeemed.
As it is right now, the hotel is a bit pointless and we just end up going into battles or unrelated plot lines instead of the main premise. So, yeah, I just no more big fights, [music] please. Not for a while. I think we have to hold back on that and just bring it back to the characters. That's all I wanted to rant about for now.
Thank you so much for watching the video.
