Matter is anything that has mass, weight, and takes up space (volume), and it exists in three main states: solids have a fixed shape and volume (e.g., laptop, ice cubes), liquids have a fixed volume but take the shape of their container (e.g., water, oil), and gases have neither fixed shape nor volume (e.g., oxygen, air).

Solid, Liquid, or Gas? Understanding Matter π§ͺ #science #shortsAdded:
Look around you. The phone in your hand, the water you drink, even the air you breathe. What do they all have in common? Uh they are all matter.
In simple terms, matter is anything that has mass, weight, and takes up space, volume. If you can touch it, weigh it, or it occupies a corner, it's matter.
While science has discovered more, matter primarily exists in three main states. First, solid. Solids have a fixed shape and a fixed volume.
Examples: your laptop, ice cubes, table, gold. Second, liquids. Liquids have a fixed volume, but no fixed shape. They take the shape of whatever container you pour them into. Examples: water, oil, juice.
Third, gases. Gases have no fixed shape and no fixed volume. Examples: oxygen, air, helium. So, [snorts] the next time you see anything in the universe, just ask yourself, does it have weight? Does it take up space? If yes, you're looking at matter.
