Toy Hunting at 12 Op Shops in 1 Day! Thrift Store Madness!Added:
What is up guys? Sis here for Nostalgia Button. And in today's video, I'm heading hopefully to 10 op shops in one day. I want to try and find some treasure. I'm going to go t-shirts, records, VHS tapes. I'm looking for toys, collectibles, all that good stuff.
So, my first stop is the Salvos in South Merang. And then I'm going to do a massive, massive trip around my surrounding suburbs to find some treasure. Come on with me, buters, let's do it. Off I went, buters, through the streets of Eping. Make sure you hit the like button, hit the subscribe button with your bell notifications turned on so you never miss a video. And here I go. First stop, Salvos in South Merang.
And there it is. The Salvos in South Merang. Look, I mean, it isn't the best, but it's not the worst on this list of um op shops that I hit up today on this day. Um, they sometimes have some great stuff. Sometimes it's a little bit of a hit and the miss, but they had that little Bluey doll there. Um, a pop vinyl, something from Aladdin. I see.
Um, they seem to put all the what they feel is the high-end items in these cabinets at the front of the store. So, that's where I always try to have a look to see if there's anything that kind of um, you know, piques my interest early on in the hunt. Um, an old cabbage patch doll there. I see. However, this time, um, you kind of have to wonder. It's a little bit of a head scratcher. Like, they've got all those Legos in there, but you have to, hey, oh, can I open up the cabinet? You know, and see there's nothing there you really want. Um, so yeah, at this point I'm thinking, do I need to open the cabinet to look at this Queen book? Not really, but that's all right. I then had a look at their media section and uh they did have some VHS tapes which I am always on the hunt for. I had a quick look through those. However, I'm not sure if there was really anything that really hit uh the mark. I always look through the records. I love to collect Cheesecake LPs and also just, you know, good music on vinyl, but it is hard to find at the op shop. And when they've got them stacked up like this, it's quite tricky to to check them all out. I hit up the toy section, of course, and they had this Maxi Walker take it to the max um board game. Had a host of murder, a slice of murder board game as well. And check this out, Buttoners. They actually had a Disneyland set of Mickey ears.
California. So yeah, you never know what you're going to find at the op shop, you know? That's why I love op shopping. You just never know what you're going to find. Big teddy bears. I believe I'm about to put my hand on this giant puzzle of a kitty cat. Didn't take it home, though. What else can I find here at the Selvos? Oh, yeah. These jigsaw puddles. Puzzles. They had the Back to the Future jigsaw puzzle. They had this awesome Jaws one and I believe an ET.
So, these are new ones, but still really cool if you're into puzzles. Absolutely.
Had to scan the uh the rest of the toys.
A lot of soft toys you'll see at the op shops, but they did have a Pinkie Pie My Little Pony. Um, the hair wasn't in pretty bad shape. Um, I checked the bottom to see if the batteries worked, but there was probably no batteries in there to begin with, but um, pretty cool piece. I know my daughter loves My Little Pony. Now, this frame I had to document cuz if you know the story of this frame, this was when they were building all the skyscrapers in New York City back in the day. And this image just perfectly captures the OhS, which was not a thing back then of all those workers. I then went to Vinnie's in South Merang, and I love this Vinnie.
I've gotten so many bargains over the years at this specific Vinnie's op shop.
So, I always hit it up and the first thing I saw is they displayed all these great dinosaurs. And my daughter loves dinosaurs at the moment. So, I always am on the lookout for a dinosaur that she doesn't already have. They had the vinyls. Again, tricky to film and sift through at the same time. But there's Perry Como there. Um the uh lots of great ones and some not so great ones, but you always got to have a look cuz you never know if you're going to find something cool. The Bachelors golden oldies.
Fantastic.
Whoop.
Now, it's very rare that you don't see these Buffy box sets at the op shop these days. I remember hunting for those at JB HIO JP Hi-Fi for years and hoping to get the whole set. Um it took ages.
My eye then saw this DVD of Kickboxer five redemption. Uh so look, you know, if you like these trashy action films like I do, then that is hitting the mark. I then went to this op shop. Um I'm not sure what affiliation it is. It is just a community op shop. It may be Brotherhood of St. Lawrence. Maybe St. Vincent Depal. I'm not sure, but they have some really good stuff in here. I saw this great uh Dragonology book, which um is awesome. If you ever see that, open it up cuz it's really great.
And they had this Hook action figure.
They wanted five bucks for it. Bargain.
Look at that action figure from Hook.
Uh some Star Wars stuff there. They had these um candle gnomes. And they also had a frosted Tasmanian devil glass.
That was sick. Stick around to see if I was able to nab that to the at the end of the video. Had some cars here as well. A Barbie truck or something like that. Pardon me. And uh some soft toys as well. They also had these great steelbook DVDs. Some X-Men there. Um the Bourne Jason Bourne collection.
Transformers steelbook. Zena Warrior Princess. How cool is that? On DVD and a lot of VHS tapes. It's so great to see VHS tapes in the op shops cuz for years they just weren't being donated. But for now, for for some reason, they're being donated left and right. And so I'm able to get a lot of great titles on VHS. And this one immediately caught my eye. The Jackal with Bruce Willis. Um, yeah, look at that. What a title. Unbelievable. I then had a look at these uh vinyls. Uh look at that. Humphrey B Bear.
Uh a lot of other titles there. You never know what you're going to find. I love the the fashion of the 70s. Look at that one.
Tommy James tonight. Melissa. Somebody.
Another Melissa. The Sting. You always see The Sting on vinyl at the op shop.
It's a classic.
So many titles to dig through, but uh nothing that took my eye, unfortunately.
I then uh saw this in the corner of my eye. However, a Star Wars trucker cap with the old Star Wars poster art on it.
Pretty cool, I thought. I didn't see how much it was, so I popped it back. And then the Bernie Beetle hat. Got to be an op shop item. Um or a showbag item, rather. Um, and then they had all these cool Mitchell and Ness uh jumpers and Jordans.
And look at this one, but they had a Rugrats hoodie. It was kind of like a half um length hoodie, so probably more of a a a ladies design, but pretty cool nonetheless. I kept hunting for those vinyls. Revived 45s with the bird with the headband on there. Thought that was really, really cool. someone there with a rainbow and loads of other titles that are just yeah, too hard to film and check out, but these were easy to film and check out. Star Wars on DVD, the prequels, episode 2, Attack of the Clones, and then of course episode 3, Revenge of the Sith. Fantastic.
And then they did have some very cool t-shirt buttoners. I did buy one of these, but you have to stick around to see which one I chose. I had the Cleveland show. My wife and I just finished binging Breaking Bad and then they had this very cool uh double print Fruit of the Loom t-shirt. Really caught my eye. I love that one. I did pick up one of those three, but you'll have to stick around to the end to find out.
Then I made my way to another Salvos.
This one was in Bandura. Um another great location here on Plenty Road.
Let's see what they had on offer.
Checked out the toy section. I saw this awesome crocodile.
Uh, very, very cool. Very nostalgic. I remember playing with those types of toys as a a young lad. Another set of Mickey ears. Those might have been bootlegs and just a random bag of toys, but nothing to write home about. I kept on hunting those hunting though buttoners. Didn't let it faze me. Check out this bizarre Mickey on all fours in a onesie. And I think it actually moved because it had like a battery. It's got like sticky pads on his knees and like hands. Very odd item. Very odd, but there you go. The op shop never ceases to amaze. I then checked out the very small VHS section that they did have a Stargate VHS. Um, it looks like The Power of One, Billy Elliot.
Um, what else did they have? The, uh, Defenders of the Earth on VHS.
And, uh, look at this. What, what on earth is this, babe? On VHS and Independence Day, but not the venticular cover that I have in my collection, so I let it sweat there on the shelves.
What else did they have? Not much else.
It didn't it didn't seem to me. So, I kept on trucking, kept on going to the next part of the store. They had these uh little model cars. I feel like they had some old Phantom comics, the Godfather on DVD, a mystery box, and this very cool old teddy bear. Look at that guy. Very cool. I then made my way to Watsonia or Mloud. No, I think it was Watsonia actually, where they have three op shops. all on the same street. I hit up this Selvos first and of course they had heaps of Lego, but this is what they do now, folks. They they find them, they put them in a box, and they charge you 70 bucks for a bunch of random Lego.
Okay? Yeah. Look, this is the state of op shopping in 2026.
You're going to have to put some money down if you want some Lego folks cuz they know it's worth a bit of coin and they just chuck it all in a tub. Whack a random price on it. Look, this one's worth 25 apparently for that tub of Lego. Okay. Uh, another tub here. This was a 20 buck tub of some Lego. Yep. All right. Some wheels in there. And then just a bunch of manuals for five bucks to go with the random Lego that you have. So yeah, if you need some of that action, there's a dinosaur. So many dinos on my hunt today. Look at that one. Giant T-Rex. I think that one was actually there the last time I went to this SOS, so they can't get rid of it.
What are you going to do, you know? Uh some other random toys at this location.
I did spy some clothes, obviously.
Some dollies. What else was here? This giant toy there. I don't know what this is. Lots of uh lots of stuff. Lots of eye candy. They did have a Beyond Again t-shirt, which if you don't know, Bunn Buters is a ABBA tribute band. I do actually have this Darth Vader cup. If you want to watch it, I have a Darth Vader collection on my channel, which you can go back and watch. So, I already own that. I actually keep my clothes pegs in that cup. I then went to the Australian Red Cross, the only one on this list on the same street here in Watsonia. Um, and uh, back in the day, I actually found three vintage wrestling t-shirts at that location. So, I always check it out. And they had these awesome special edition Lord of the Rings box sets, but for some reason, they only had the Two Towers and Return of the King.
They did not have uh the Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring. Uh, the first one, it's in a green box. it was gone. So, either they didn't donate the first one or someone already snapped it up. They did have these awesome uh window stickers of Pocahontas, which was really, really cool, vintage ones, and uh also some Winnie the Pooh versions as well. So, very, very cool on those. I then went to a another op shop on this street. It's not always open, but luckily it was open um this day. It's connected to Oh, it is a Brotherhood of St. Lawrence. I didn't notice that. So, there you go. This is the Brotherhood of St. Lawrence op shop in Watsonia. Lots of board games. Trivial Pursuit. You know, you're hardressed to not see a Trivial Pursuit board game at the Op shop buttoners. Um, look at this. They had a random Pokemon glasses case. I believe that was a teddy bear. Um, they had a Teen Titans um bag hangy thing. They had this little badge which I thought was kind of cool, but it really was. Oh, okay. They also had this Darth Vader lunchbox which was kind of cool as well.
Check that out. Amazing. Wow.
They had a bunch of children's books as well. This Iron Maiden t-shirt, which is just Iron Maiden branded, so it's probably just from, you know, cotton on what or whatever, but it's still kind of a cool print. And they had another two different shops, two different Beyond Again t-shirts. Who knew they had so much merchandise? They're not even Amber, bro. And a Back to the Future t-shirt, which was pretty cool. And they had this great quote on the back. The the perfect way to travel through time.
Okay. I don't remember that quote from the films, guys, but all right. I then made my way to another Brotherhood of St. Lawrence, and I had something to say about the Saba's there. However, I'm about to head up this little op shop first. Um, it's one of my favorite spots. It's actually where I bought this Ghostbusters hat like 5 years ago, probably even longer. Um, so yeah, let's see if it can uh produce some more treasure today. Let's do it. And uh, yeah. Okay, scissors finished talking.
Okay, I'll get back to the uh, the Sizz talking now. Brotherhood of St. Lawrence. Uh, they had this cool Force Awakens Star Wars shirt. Not too bad. I didn't pick it up, but uh pretty cool.
Then I had to make my way to Savers, which is literally in the same building.
Here I am walking up. And this is the outside of the store, just in case you're wondering what it actually looked like from the outside. And my my eye immediately went to this bootleg version of Austin Powers, the spy who shagged me. Blazingly funny. I don't remember that as a quote, but apparently it's blazingly funny. buttoners. Um, now salvos, the sorry, not salvos, savers do this weird thing where they put the toys that they think are valuable in these bags. So, they had these fake Leab boooos everywhere.
Okay. Kind of strange that they're already being donated. That fat is clearly already over. Uh, heaps of bagged up toys. This is how they display them. This is how they sell them. Um, yeah, kind of takes the fun fun out of it for me. But anyway, they have so many puzzles and board games and whenever I'm at any of any of these stores, op shops, savers, whatever it may be, I'm literally just scanning for the video board game nightmare. That is all I am after. I'm looking for that purple um and black cover art for it. If I don't see it, I keep moving, folks, cuz nothing else really interests me in the board game section. They had this little guitar, which I was like, "Hang on, what is that? real guitar, but I think it was just a gimmick like um toy guitar. Had a little bit of a strum of it and uh yeah, no, clearly not a real instrument at all. Um and they also had another gimmick instrument.
Couldn't get it to fire up. It looked pretty cool though. Had a little bit of a play, but uh yeah, no love from that piano keyboard. I even tried again. Is it going to work? Is it going to work, but yeah. No, it's not. All right, what else have we got? Keep with me, guys.
Guys, I know this is a long video, but hopefully you're enjoying the format.
I'm now at my next location, which was Vinnie's in Mloud, I want to say. I think this is up at the outskirts of Greensborough. Um, and they had a tub of VHS tapes. This was an interesting way to store the VHS tapes in this location, but none of them none of them really uh caught my eye. They had they had a tub of vinyl. Apparently, this is how you display vinyl in an op shop, folks. just chuck them in a tub and let the uh the vinyl hunters go through them at their leisure. Happy times. And look at this.
They had a signed copy of Child's uh of X Factor fame. And look at all these classic hits. Beautiful Day, Sex on Fire, Living on a Prayer, Summer of 69, Eye of the Tiger, Lady in Red. Oh my god. All the hits on one record, folks.
Pick it up at the op shop. I then went all the way to Thomas Town, folks, to my Vinnies in Thomas Town, right near where I work out at my close at my home gym.
Um, and I love this place. They always have a bargain. Tiana and Naveen. Uh, uh, Pop Vinyl, 100 years of Disney special edition, folks. Nothing else much in that cabinet. I did see this giant My Little Pony uh toy. I was thinking about getting it for my daughter because she loves My Little Pony, but she's kind of not playing with her My Little Ponies anymore. She's kind of more interested in Lego these days, so I armed an art about this. I even walked out and came back into the store. Um but I still I didn't pull the trigger on it. I'm sorry, Cy. They had Shrek on VHS. They had a Buffy on VHS, which was pretty cool. Mr. Bean on VHS. They always have great VHS at this store. And then Cruel Intentions on VHS. Man, I could have bought all of those, though, but I I uh I didn't pick them up, but they were so cool. Finally, a wrestling t-shirt, folks. Even though I'm not filming all the t-shirts that I'm hunting through, I searched through all of the t-shirts and it was a a Finn Balor shirt. I then went to Vinnie's in Eping. This was the last stop. My favorite alltime Vinny's cuz it is my hometown Vinnies. Had to make sure this was my last stop. And they've been getting in the VHS, too. And look at this. Oh my god. The crow on VHS, folks. I could not believe it. This was my last stop and I was so excited that finally the VHS gods were shining down on me. And then another classic title, Forest Gump on VHS. Dude, can you get any better than that? I don't think you can. And what kind of person or toy hunter am I if I don't stop off at Toy Mate on the way home, folks. So, that's exactly what I did. and they did disappoint unfortunately just to see an army of $10 Ultimate sorry elite Zoe Stark. So if you want to build a uh a Zoey Stark versus Tonti um match, you can do it. It'll cost you a couple hundred bucks, but you'll get so many figures of the same two chicks.
All right, I've made it home, but that was an epic day of op shopping. My eyes started to sting by the end of the day, but I felt like the start of the day and the end of the day was the best uh treasure hunting and the middle of the day there was there was not much coming up. There was some cool stuff, but nothing I really wanted to uh spend any money on. So, the first purchase I did pick up was this awesome Kickboxer five on DVD.
Uh Danielle and I love watching these um old action films that you've never heard of and they usually end up being really so bad that it's good. It's one of those things. So can't wait to sit down with a fancy steak and a margarita and enjoy kickboxer five. Uh that was at the South Merang Vinnies, I believe. One of my favorite op shops, South Merang Vinnies. All right, next stop was the Brotherhood of St. Florence in Mill Park at the Stables and I picked up this Taz frosted glass 1996.
Look at that. And it was only four bucks. What a bargain. So, as soon as I saw it, it was in the cabinet. I was like, "Yeah, um, can you open the cabinet, please, Champion?" Um, I also picked up this awesome t-shirt, Fruit of the Loom. So, that means it's vintage Fruit of the Loom. And I don't think it's even been worn. I have no idea what it is. I don't know what this pattern is, guys, but it's doublesided. It's like the earth and then the water side on the back or something. Or maybe day and night. I don't know. But it just it just hit it just hit in the right spot.
Hit my nostalgia button. Even though I don't know what it is, it's not I'm not nostalgic for this shirt. I just thought it was super cool. Um and that's the thing. Sometimes you just feel it in your bones. You feel it in your guts.
Um, this store just kept on giving buters the jackal on VHS. Jack Black gets his head blown off in this movie.
So, I couldn't pass this up. This was a blockbuster video um X rental and uh it's been previously viewed buttons buttoners, but it's got a 30day money back guarantee. So, Blockbuster, I'm looking at you. Uh, and there you go.
You can tell it's Blockbuster cuz it's got this gimmick inside it.
And that's not all from uh Brotherhood of St. Lawrence. I also picked up I'm going to cover the top the the top of this lady here, but I got this awesome LP, a Cheesecake Record to add to the Cheesecake Collection. I then went to numerous other ops and failed miserably.
There was nothing there I wanted to buy.
I was at so many. I know I went over 10 and my goal was to hit 10 op shops and I hit over 10. So, uh, when I very the very last, uh, stop finally made it back to Eping, uh, the Eping Vinnies. They had a great selection of VHS. First one that caught my eye was Forest Gump on VHS, so I had to pick that up for two bucks. The next one, uh, really hit my nostalgia button. The Crow on VHS. Now, I've got this on DVD probably somewhere, maybe even Blu-ray. And I wish I had this a month ago. I could have got Ernie Hudson to sign this instead of that figure. Or maybe both. Who knows if I could have been a bit cheeky, but I mean, he's not on the artwork anywhere, so maybe not the best idea, but so so cool. And then finally, I found a Harry Potter. It's not the first edition, but it is from 2001, and it's in pristine condition. So, that there is worth at least 20 to $30. So, I thought, you know what? I might flip that or I might give that to my daughter cuz I know she's reading the Harry Potters. There you go, but we've made it to the end. Now, please leave a comment and if you like this kind of content, I've never made an op video before, an op shop hunting video. It's always just toy hunts. Um, I know I've been to markets before, but I've never actually made an exclusive op video before. So, if this is the kind of stuff you'd like me to continue making, please reach out, leave a comment, let me know, and um I'll do it again, you know, maybe in a month or two when the stock has been uh restocked. Uh before we leave, let's uh make sure that you hit that >> like button, >> hit that >> subscribe button, >> and it'll hit your >> button.
>> Oh yeah, don't forget to do all those things, but I will see you on the next video. I can't wait to uh see you again.
Make sure you leave a comment and I'll catch you very soon. I'll be at the toy fair in June Reservoir, so if you're going to go to the toy fair, I'll see you there. Peace, but cheers.
What you buy this week?
Did you get some toys instead of the groceries? I wanted this since I was a kid. Now I live in a box. But at least I chase the dream. I got to intercept that package.
Only wife will leave me and I'll end up on the street.
Nostalgia.
Let's hit it hard.
