Social Media Influencer, Blessing CEO Arraigned, Remanded Over Alleged N36M Fraud

The Lagos Zonal Directorate one of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today arraigned a social media influencer and relationship therapist, Blessing Okoro, also known as Blessing CEO, before Justice Dande Idikwolo of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over alleged 36 million naira fraud. She was arraigned on a two-count charge for obtaining money by false pretense and stealing to the tune of 36 million naira. At the commencement of proceedings, the defense counsel, PI Wafo, informed the court that the defendant had refunded part of the money to the nominal complainant. But, the prosecution counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, said in response that the prosecution was not privy to any discussion between the defendant and the nominal complainant. In his ruling, Justice Idikwolo ordered the defendant to take her plea. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her. Now, counsel to the defendant requested that the defendant be remanded in the EFCC's custody pending the perfection of her bail conditions. He added that the defendant had only been served with the charge on Thursday, 14th of May, and that efforts were ongoing to file her bail application.

[00:01:14]Justice Idikwolo granted the application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in EFCC custody. The matter was adjourned till the 5th of June for the commencement of trial.
