Tracking severe storms in Philadelphia region Tuesday

[00:00:00]Coming to you from the Hyundai virtual Next Weather Sphere. This is Next Weather >> and this is a look at the beautiful beach day that it was in Wildwood Crest today. CBS Philadelphia's Joel Holden sent us this video and he's not even working. Was my man rubbing it in a bit.

[00:00:17]Huh? Huh? This is the beach at Topeka Avenue. Lots of people and lots of sunshine, the water, the waves. Enjoy yourself, Joseph. Enjoy yourself. Hey, Drew. You get a text to come on down? I didn't. I did not see that at all. And I'm on my phone a lot.

[00:00:32]>> So, >> hey, did it not look like that water was so clear for the Jersey Shore?

[00:00:37]>> It did.

[00:00:38]>> Yeah, >> it did.

[00:00:38]>> That looks nice. Hopefully, everybody has a chance to enjoy it. In fact, take a look at another shore point. There's Higgby Beach right now. I love the way that they make the sand at Higgby Beach.

[00:00:47]Every time I look at the camera there, it just looks so nice and even. So, this is what we're left with tonight. Some very nice skies. Air quality is okay.

[00:00:55]It's not nearly as bad as it was last week and it's going to get a little bit better with the rain coming in. You can see a little bit of that haze. We talked about that the last couple of days that today will be mostly sunny, but a little bit of haze kind of sneaking in there, but a nice gorgeous shot of the skyline.

[00:01:08]Let's get right to business. Next weather alert for tomorrow, Tuesday through around 700 p.m. starting at around 3. That's the time frame that we're likely to have the most severe storms. Damaging wind, flash flooding not out of the question along with an isolated tornado. You know the drill.

[00:01:23]This has been a very busy season. So far, the setup tomorrow is more instability, a little bit more heat, and of course that humidity. And all of that could give us air and road delays as we head toward tomorrow afternoon. We'll have highs in the 80s, say for the Poconos, in the 70s, but showers and thunderstorms, that is something that we are going to see very uh briefly starting in the early afternoon and then kind of expanding and staying with us for most of the day. Let's talk about tomorrow afternoon and the chance for damaging winds. the color coding there, yellow, red means, yeah, gradually we may see it, but a much higher chance across much of middle Pennsylvania and then our entire area. And then what about the tornado threat? Well, again, it's not jumping off off the charts here, but the chance for any tornadoes that may spin up, it's a little higher.

[00:02:08]The green is a very small percent. The brown where we're standing on, that's also a small percent, but it's a little higher. And that slice is again right through our area from the shore to the city up toward Allentown, even as far down as DC. So, what does this mean for all of us? We just need to remain vigilant and once again, keep it here.

[00:02:25]We're going to keep you posted, not only on TV, but online as well. Let me take you through a futurecast. We know we're good now, but the clouds and even a few showers start coming in tomorrow morning. One thing though, if we could get a couple of us to get underneath a couple of showers tomorrow morning, that may stabilize things enough that we don't get the worst of it. But right now, let's prepare because a line of storms will come in in the early to midafter afternoon west of us, starting to move in our area between 5 6 and 700 p.m. And then by the time we get to about 9, 10:00, it should clear the Jersey Shore. Maybe some lingering stuff as we head toward the day on your Wednesday. But overall, Wednesday will not be severe. In fact, the only thing that we're looking at is the potential for severe weather for Tuesday over the course of the next seven days. So that's why that's the next weather alert is for tomorrow. Wednesday, we clear things out late in the day. And then after that, a nice sigh of relief. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, mostly sunny to partly cloudy. And for the first time in a while, we might have a quiet weekend. Stay with us. We'll be right back.
