Sonic boom confirmed in SC: What we know

[00:00:00]Oh, we do have information on just how far this was felt across parts of South Carolina. This orange here is a rough estimate of the sound reports and reports of people who have felt the shockwave of that sonic boom and again, it extends as far west as Augusta up through parts of the PD including Florence Darlington counties. The original report came in from near St. Andrews close to Columbia and it was around 5:24 p.m. Now, the official magnitude is zero because this wasn't an earthquake. This was a sound wave through the air and those aren't measured through the classic Richter scale phenomena there. So, that's why you have a zero. Once we get to the bottom of the overall source, we'll obviously have more information.

[00:00:40]There are of course rumors out and about, but regardless, yes, it was very loud and as you could see it was felt and heard from very far away. You're talking several counties of that kind of phenomena. Yeah, that's for sure. And again, still unclear what ultimately it was, but again, hopefully we'll get more information on that coming up shortly.
