Sweden had a bizarre law from the 1930s that required bars and clubs to obtain police permits for dancing, with violations resulting in fines or closures; this outdated regulation, originally intended to control nightlife, remained in effect for nearly a century until it was finally repealed in 2023.

Stockholm Once BANNED Dancing in Bars?本站添加:
I've been living in Sweden for ages, and I only recently found out that you're not allowed to dance in most Swedish bars. Did you know in Stockholm you actually needed permission to dance in a bar? For decades in Sweden, [music] there was a strange law from the 1930s.
Venues like pubs and clubs had to get a [music] police permit if they wanted people to dance. No permit, even casual dancing could get the place fined or shut down. It was originally meant to control nightlife, [music] but over time it just became outdated and honestly pretty ridiculous. By the 2000s, [music] people across the country were calling it absurd. Still, it took until 2016 [music] for lawmakers to vote it out.
And only in 2023 was it fully repealed.
So today, no permit's needed. Dance all you want. Does your country have the same weird law? [music] Share it in the comments section.
