A mother to be admired is characterized by three essential qualities: (1) Lifegiving - bringing children into the world through childbirth, (2) Lovegiving - nurturing and caring for the children she brings into the world, and (3) Lordgiving - passing on her faith to the next generation. This teaching uses the story of Moses' mother (Jochebed) from Exodus 2 as an example, who demonstrated all three qualities by giving birth to Moses in faith during a time of crisis, loving her child, and ensuring her faith was transmitted to him. The sermon emphasizes that parents should train their children in the way they should go, and that God's providence will work through them to fulfill His promises.

5/10/2026 8am Worship Service at The Fellowship Of Excitement | #TheEbenezerChurchAdded:
We are Ebenezer Church.
We serve the Christ, the church, the community, and the culture.
Worship will begin shortly.
Here are a few tidbits to look forward to in the upcoming days and weeks.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.
Hey, Ebenezer. Emry Laughing House here.
And man, did we have an awesome time at the children's retreat. Check out these pigs.
Now, if you miss a children's retreat.
Don't worry, our quarterly gathering is coming on May 31st. Here's Miss Ryan with the details.
>> Hey, Ebenezer. Ryan Young here. For fifth Sunday, May 31st, we're going to have a free fun day at Topgolf in Main Event in Greensboro.
So, here's how it's going to work. You must attend Super Sunday service May 31st at 9:00 a.m. After church, we will meet up at 603 Guilford College Road at 12:30. Main Event and Top Golf are located side by side. Nursery and elementary students will go to main event, while our middle and high schoolers will go to Topgolf. We will also provide transportation from church to the location and back for our middle school and high schoolers whose parents will not be joining us. But for all nursery and elementary kids, parents must be in attendance and provide transportation. Now, did I mention that this is a free outing? That's right, completely free. So go ahead and register you and a friend for our gathering at Topgolf and main event so that our youth can enjoy themselves.
Grow closer together as we continue to grow in Christ.
>> Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119 verse 105.
These words of the psalmist are indeed a guiding principle here at Ebene. Pastor Coington expects for us to grow spiritually. That's why there are a number of learning opportunities here at the Fellowship of Excitement. As you likely know, in addition to Sunday school, which meets every week, iLearn University meets every first, second, third, and fourth Sundays at 9:45 a.m. We currently have a exciting class on Genesis, the story of beginnings. Our own executive pastor, the Reverend Michael Lawrence Gentry, has been captivating his class with his wonderful teaching. However, we will be adding a class. The able Reverend Brian Schaer will lead a class on the Gospel of Mark.
Mark is a very intense book because it focuses on Jesus and the miraculous things that he does. Both of these classes will run through the end of June. Plan to be with us.
Speaking of June, the 23rd through the 26th, we will feature our vacation Bible school. We will have classes, fun, and food for all ages. We will start dinner at 6:00 p.m. If you've never been to VBS here at Ebenea, take my word for it. It is an exciting way to expand your spiritual knowledge base. Teaching arts and crafts, food, music, and fun. Block this time out. Put it on your calendar.
June 23rd through 26.
As a pastor of lifelong learning here at the Fellowship of Excitement, I encourage you to learn all that you can.
We are excited about your future in Christ. Blessings.
Hello fellow worshippers. My name is Clement Emmael and I want to give you a few security and emergency tips before worship begins.
First, please exit and enter through the sanctuary lobby or the echo welcome center lobby. All side doors and emergency exits are closed and locked during worship service and Sunday school. We have trustees and deacons positioned at those two locations for your safety and security.
Secondly, in case of a fire, everyone should exit the building as fast as possible and go to one of our four designated assembly areas. Parking lot number five near the eBay center.
Parking lot number four behind the Echo building. Parking lot number two near Elizabeth Street. And the fourth area is by the couch house at the corner of Apple and Richmond. These four areas are designated as our safe areas until we can confirm that all is clear. Those who are in the Echo building have doors to exit from in case of emergency. They will walk to their assembly area which is parking lot number four behind the Echo building. Thank you for listening and have a safe worship experience here at the Ebeneia Church.
We welcome our firsttime guests in person or by way of our social sanctuary. We pray that you will be encouraged today and that you will not leave the same way you came. Our wonderful ushers are stationed throughout the sanctuary to assist you.
If you have any needs during service, just look around for our ushers. They'll be right there to help. Our youth church and nursery are open at 10:45 a.m. on 1st, 2nd, and fourth Sundays. Bring your kids on over to the Echo Building to have fun while learning about the Lord.
Sunday school is 1st through 4th Sundays at 9:45 a.m. in the Echo Building and Small Chapel. The general adult class, the women's class, and I learn institute are available for adults. The youth life leadership institute is available for the youth.
Bible study is each Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Come learn with us and please take advantage of the other disciplehip and fellowship opportunities here at the Ebenezer Church.
Excel Christian Academy PreK and ECA Day School are open for enrollment. Contact Pastor Larry Coington at 3362268526.

One of the things that makes growing up at Ebenezer so special is that we are a family.
And on a day like today, I can look out and see all the moms and mother figures who make this place so special.
As kids, we watch everything you do. We see how you serve, sing, preach, and lead.
>> We learn from watching you. And believe me, you are all great teachers.
So on a special day like today, we are honored to tell you how much we love, value, and cherish all of you. Happy Mother's Day to the women of Ebeneia Church. Enjoy your special day.

>> God did not have to allow us to be here today, but through his grace and mercy which never fails, we are here once again to give him praise and the honor that is due. God has been wonderful to us >> throughout this week, throughout this month, throughout this year. And for all of us who are able to celebrate Mother's Day, that means God has blessed us full cateions.
Why the Lord is able Our father say God.
drive somebody.
Father God, God show yourself to God being God. Show yourself to be God.
>> And Lord God, use us. Use us, your people, Lord God, to bring healing to the world. Bring peace to the world, Lord God.
>> Lord God, help us to be what you called us to be, Lord God. And we need you to be God.
We need you to be a miracle worker, Lord God. We need you to exercise your authority and power over the kings of this earth, Lord God. You said the heart of the king is in your hands, Lord God.
And so we pray, Lord God, that you move and have your will be done, Lord, that you bring God. And in our own lives, God, we trust that you care for us for you told us to cast our cares on you, Lord God.
>> So, we're bringing those cares to you, Lord God.
>> The burdens that we feel, Lord God, the pains that we are enduring, Lord God, the trials that we face, Father God, >> even the joys of our lives, Lord, we know it comes from you. And so, we're asking you as you give us joy, Lord God, we're asking We know you can and we trust you can because every good and perfect thing comes from above. It comes from you, God.
>> You are the giver of all that is good, Lord God. And you oversee and overrule even those things that we don't like.
Even those things that are painful, even those those things that we see as burdens, you are still the one who allows and manages and decides what happens in our lives.
>> Father, we say as Job said, though he still will I trust him.
>> Whatever you allow us to go through, we still trust you, Lord God.
Whatever difficulties come our way, we still trust you because you're the one who will take us over and around and through God >> and we'll be stronger after Lord God >> you will give us the strength >> and the power to >> so Lord God as we go through the things that we go through help us to keep in mind that if you allow it then you will use it and you will work it to our good >> because all things work together for the good of those who love you and are the called >> according to your purpose.
>> So we thank you God >> for calling us.
>> We thank you God for loving us. We thank you God for saving us >> and we thank you God that you have kept us all the way even to this moment right here.
>> So the fact that we stand in this moment means you are worthy of all of our praise.
>> We glorify you this day. Let us >> bring glory to you in everything we do.
Even as we leave this place, let us bring glory to you, Lord God, so that people can see us and know surely there is a God in heaven, Lord God.
>> Not just by all that you give us, but all that you help us to endure and overcome, Lord God, and how you bless us to excel even in the most difficult circumstances. That is the power of God.
So we love you and we trust you, Lord God, and we bring these concerns to you, Lord God, knowing that you care for us.
And we thank you in advance for what you're going to do because we are so grateful for what you've already done.
>> And it is in Jesus's mighty name that we pray.
>> Amen.
I love you.
I worship and adore you.
Just want to tell you, Lord, I love you more than anything.
I love you, Jesus.
I worship and adore you.

And we have several others who are graduating college and will be graduating high school uh later on this month. So certainly if you have a high schooler or a college student who is graduating or if you are receiving a degree of any kind, we want to celebrate you. That is precious to us because that shows that Eene is putting out quality in the world. Amen.
And that the Lord is using folks to do good work. So please, you see the uh slide on the screen, the QR code is there. Access that QR code and sign up to be a part of our graduation banquet on June 6th and our graduation ceremony on June 7th after church service. We are excited to be able to celebrate with you. Amen.
Amen. Now, at this time, do we have any first time guests? Are there any guests?
This is your first time worshiping with us here at the Ebenezer Church?
Anyone in the building? All right, we're all home. Amen.
But to all of our online guests, first of all, we thank you for joining us here in worship at Ebenezer. And if this is your first time, You see connect cards on the screen. Amen. Amen. Because Ebeneza, you are so easy to love. Amen.
Now on second Sunday we uh have our health awareness moment because second Sunday is health awareness Sunday. So at this time, please turn your attention to the screen for our Ebenezer news and our health moment.
World, people walk an average of 3.73 miles each day to find water that's often dirty and makes them sick. So, to help communities have easier access to clean drink and water, Ebenezer is co-hosting the World Vision Global 6K Walk Saturday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m. at Fairchild Park. Participation is free, but you can pay a registration fee of $50 to receive a Global 6K t-shirt and other World Vision gear. You can also make a donation by accessing the QR code on the screen. Let's do our part and let's make sure we have a big turnout Saturday, May 16th at 9:00 a.m. And then on that same day at 11:00 a.m., Cone Health will be returning to Ebenezer to host the Build a Better You Community Wellness event. There will be lots of vendors as well as entertainment and opportunities for various health screenings, Saturday, May 16th at 11:00 a.m. Then on Sunday, May 17th, we will celebrate our 144th church anniversary.
The Reverend Dale Powell from Miami, Florida will return to give us another stirring word as we commemorate the Lord's rich blessings. And in celebration of our 144th anniversary, the pastor's assistance ministry is excited to introduce the Ebenezer Store on Sunday, May 17th, following the 8:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services. A variety of new items will be available for purchase along with select merchandise available for pre-order. Please plan to bring cash or checks to shop the Ebenezer collection Sunday, May 17th following both services.
Hello church family. My name is Jessica Blocker and I'm here with Mia Curry. We represent Girl Scout Troop 41353.
And while we are preparing for our Girl Scout lockin, we also want to bring you this month's health moment. Today's health moment will focus on first aid training.
>> In Luke chapter 10, we read about the good Samaritan, a man who saw a stranger who was badly injured and applied first aid and care to meet the stranger's needs. As Girl Scouts, we understand this is service in action. Just as the scout uses first aid to stabilize a physical injury, Christians are called to meet the immediate practical needs of their neighbors. First aid gives those who are injured the best opportunity for a positive outcome. It gives you the opportunity to change someone's life for the better. First aid training equips you to act with compassion rather than fear when a crisis occurs. Administering first aid care reflects the character of Christ who prioritizes the physical and spiritual restoration of others.
Ebenezer, many of you have taken advantage of the opportunity to become CPR certified. But if you have not, there's another opportunity coming soon.
On June 13th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, we will have CPR and AED training right here at Ebenezer. This is a chance to learn how to administer AIDS with confidence and compassion. So, contact Reverend Wanda Mays to sign up and thank you for allowing us to share this health moment with you.

We are who we are because God blessed us with you.
Amen. Now, I'm going to do one more thing as we settle ourselves.
If you're here today and the Lord has taken your mother from time into eternity, I would like for you to stand.
Precious memories, how they linger, how they overflood our souls in the stillness of the midnight. Precious memories, take control.
Let's bow our heads.
Gracious God, we thank you for the influence, the imprint of a mother who has been taken from us and deposited in the land of eternity.
We pray, Father, that we will continue to rise and even call her blessed as a blessed memory.
Now we thank you and we praise you for the love and the labor of our dear mother in Jesus name. Amen.

As you know, here at Ebenezer, there are five ways to give. You can give online through our website, www.thebenezerurch.com.
You can give through the ServantKeeper app. Of course, give in service as well as through the Giveify app and by mail or drop off. Now, let us go to the Lord in prayer.
Father God, we thank you for the opportunity to give you back a portion of what you have given to us. Thank you for all your rich and many blessings, Lord God. That which we can count in our bank account, but that Lord God, that we just receive on a daily basis that we can't even account for, God. All that you've given to us, Lord God, we praise your name for, God. And so at this time we worship you by giving you back a portion of what you've given us so that there may be meat in your house. In other words, Lord God, we want to see the work that can be done through this church for the kingdom, Lord God. So bless what we give to be for the upbuilding of your kingdom. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
Oh Lord, we praise You, oh Lord, we praise you, oh Lord. We praise you, oh Lord. We praise you, oh Lord. We praise you, oh Lord, we praise you, oh Lord, we praise you, oh Lord, we praise you. I was thinking the other day about the joy you brought my way. You took away my crown and all the things that can be found. I thought about all those times that I was walking around in a day. Oh Lord, we praise you >> that only you praise you.
>> I was thinking the other day about you brought my way my ground and all the sad me. I thought about all the time that I was walking around in the days. But today I stand before you is nothing but great. Oh Lord, I praise we praise you. Oh Lord, I praise you.

Oh, we praise you for glory.
You only praise you.
Amen. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
At this time, let us stand to our feet and receive our scripture for this morning.
The scripture for this morning will come from the book of Exodus chapter 2 verses 1-8.
Exodus 2:es 1-8.
And it reads, "And a man of the house of Levi went and took as wife a daughter of Levi. So the woman conceived and bore a son. And when she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him three months. But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bull rushes for him, dobbed it with asshalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river's bank. And his sister stood a far off to know what would be done to him.
Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, and her maidens walked along the riverside. And when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it. And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, "This is one of the Hebrews children." Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, "Shall I go and call a nurse for you from the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?"
And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, "Go." So the maiden went and called the child's mother. Thus far, the word of the Lord. You may be seated.
Let us now receive another song of praise from our wonderful choir, followed by our pastor, Dr. Larry C.
She ain't coming out. She not coming out.

Today, in honor of Mother's Day, I want to talk about the kind of mother to be admired.
Which means there are some mothers the way they portray motherhood cannot be admired.
Today I want to look at a familiar piece of divine real estate and talk about the kind of mother to be admired.
Most of you have had the opportunity to watch a televised athletic event in particular football, but almost any event.
And when they stick the mic to the face of a person in particular from the winning team, there are two things that they normally say. One, we're going to go to Disney World. But two, they show all the teeth they have and say, "Hi, Mom."
Very few of them say, "Hi, Dad."
That's because of the impact and the influence of a mother.
It is said that the man has been ordained by God to be the head of the household, but the woman has been ordained by God to be the heart of the household.
The man has influence in the house, but the woman makes the imprint in the house.
And so I want to talk from a familiar piece of divine real estate. There in the book of the Exodus, the Torah, chapter number two, there is a story, a narrative, a presentation of a man married to a woman by the name of Jacobette.
And she is the mother of we know three children, Miriam, Aaron, and Moses. Am I right so far? Come on, Bible.
And I wonder if Moses, Miriam, and or Aaron had the mic this morning, they can give testament testimony that they had a mother that they admired.
And God was so impressed with this mother until in the book of Hebrews chapter 11, the unknown writer gives a short snippet of Moses's life.
And he could not mention Moses' life without mention mentioning his mother.
>> Amen. Somebody, you see, my brothers and sisters, Moses was born. In fact, I'll go on and give you the to give you give give you the backdrop, give you the outline in case I don't finish.
This story happens between three big Ps.
Providence, preparation, and promise.
>> Can you say those with me? What?
This mother to be admired, Jacob had her name was number number one a lifegiving mother.
She by the help of God and through the participation of her husband brought to us Moses, Miriam and Aaron. She she was a lifegiving mother.
But not only was she a lifegiving mother, she was a lovegiving mother.
Which means that some that God Amen.
enables to bring life do not love the life that they bring into the world.
>> But not only was she a lifegiving mother, she was a lovegiving mother. And and thirdly, she was a lordgiving mother. In other words, she she made sure that her faith >> was transported or translated into the next generation.
>> WHATEVER GOD GIVES YOU SHOULD NOT stop with you.
>> D everybody under the sound of my voice.
Amen. You are the recipient of something that somebody else deposited into your life. And since today is Mother's Day, can we just thank God for the teaching, the wisdom, the words, come on somebody, the modeling that a mother, amen, gave.
AND WE ARE STILL WHO WE ARE BECAUSE THEY MADE DEPOSITS IN OUR LIVES. AND THOSE DEPOSITS ARE still giving out dividends and gaining interest.
>> Look at somebody and tell them, I know I'm I know that's right.
Go on and tell them, I know I I am who I am.
>> I am >> because I had a mother who >> that I admired.
>> Now, my mama, like me, not perfect.
>> An imperfect mother would make imperfect children.
>> Come on, somebody. But that's my mama.
>> Yeah. Yeah. She She was a lifegiving mother. She was a lovegiving mother. She was a lordgiving mother. She passed on the faith to her children. All three of them.
We praise God for such a mother. Now notice this couple of points. one. She gave birth to Moses in faith.
She gave birth to Moses in faith.
There was a crisis going on at the time of Moses's birth.
children of Israel were in bondage to the empire of Egypt.
They were enslaved.
They were oppressed.
They were uh cast castigated. They they they they they were enslaved.
And in the midst of this crisis, in the midst of of of of this situation, Jacob had gave birth to Moses.
Brothers and sisters, we are living right now in 2026 in a time of crisis.
>> It is a peculiar time to give birth to a child.
I wish you had somebody in here.
>> If you're giving birth, Amen. And this week, next week, week after next, uh my sister, wherever you are, you are bringing forth a child in a peculiar time, >> time, a time, time, a time, a time, especially in this country, a time where depends on who you are, what you look like, your child may not be uh important as somebody else's child.
a time when a time when a time when time and especially even even in the context of this scripture amen uh uh Jacobet would would have been categorized as not only a child bringing forth a child amen that's that's in a time of bondage but also she was a person in poverty >> there were no rich Israelites during that time they were all in poverty Look at it. Look at it. Look at it. If you bring forth a child in a time of poverty, there's not much to help you these days. In those days, they did not have welfare and SNAP benefits and this and that and the other. And also in these days, those benefits are being cut.
>> Are y'all hearing me?
>> Tough time to have a child.
But she brought forth this child in faith in the midst of a crisis.
>> Can you see it?
Children children, especially male children, were being killed because Amen. the the these these Hebrew women were were were were bringing forth children in abundance and they wanted to kill especially Hebrew boys.
Somebody say, "Lord, help save our boys."
Even in this 20 26 year we are dealing with losing a lot of our boys >> don't grow up to become men or shot down and and and relegated to being nobody before they can reach maturity. BUT BUT BUT BUT IF YOU BRING FORTH A child in faith that means you are covering that child in faith.
Somebody ought to pause right now and thank God that your mother and or your father prayed for you, covered you. In fact, the text says that when Jacob had Moses, watch this, she hid him for three months.
>> Are y'all listening to me? Is in this text also in the Hebrews 11 text, she she hid him for three months. And brothers and sisters, we need to know how to cover our children.
I wish there somebody in here. We need to cover them as best we can financially as best we can materially, but make sure you cover them spiritually.
>> Amen, somebody. Every time you walk by your child, I don't care if they're five or 55, call their name in prayer.
Somebody ought to give God praise that that that your mama prayed for you.
And you ought to be praying for your child or your children.
It's great to go and see them graduate, but it's even better to pray for them as they are walking the halls of education.
She covered she she covered she she hid him.
She hid I said she hid it so that the ICE officers would not come and I mean she hid him >> so that he would not be killed. He hid him.
>> We need to learn how to hide our children. Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen. Stop exposing your children to everything.
>> You learn how to hide some stuff. Come on, somebody.
But she hid she she she hid. She hid.
And when she could not hide her child any longer, Bible says that she came up with a great idea. Somebody say providence.
>> Providence.
>> What you don't understand sometime, what you cannot put your finger ON IS THAT GOD IS ALWAYS IN the picture. God is always a part of your story behind the SCENES OF YOUR CRISIS.
THERE'S A GOD WHO STANDS. THERE'S A GOD WHO is who is at work. You may be going through A CRISIS RIGHT NOW, my child of God, BUT KNOW THAT GOD SEES YOU. GOD WILL NEVER NEGLECT YOU. GOD WILL NEVER FORSAKE YOU. GOD IS ALWAYS IN the picture.
>> So, so, so, so, so what kind of woman does God admire? Well, first of all, this mother, this mother, this mother, this mother, this mother is a caring mother.
But secondly, she is a creative mother.
She comes up with this plan.
She says that what I'm going to do is that uh keep in mind while we are in the book of Exodus, so I'm sure I'm sure that Jacob had knew something about what happened in the book of Genesis around chapter 6 that God prepared an ark. Help me somebody.
>> And and and and by way of giving uh instructions to Moses, God God prepared that ark through through through through through through Noah. Sorry. and and and NOAH BUILT THAT ARK and and that ark lasted and ended up on Mount Archac. And and and Jacob said, "Well, if God can uh instruct a big ark >> to save a family, >> come on, somebody. I can construct a little ark >> to save my baby."
>> Amen, somebody. And so and so she along with her husband probably constructed this ark and they and and they sealed it with with tar and pitch and they it became watch this a life raft and and watch this she she launched it.
>> So not only not only not only she give birth by faith but but but but but there's a second thing here. She she she she she believed that God would save her child.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A and she launched him in the midst of danger. The Nile River was believed to have crocodiles and all sorts of stuff in it.
The Nile River, she she launched him and watch this. The Nile River was also sacred to the local population.
So what she was really doing was she was testing her God against the God of the enemy.
ANYTIME OUR GOD GOES AGAINST THE GOD OF THE ENEMY, y'all know who going to win.
I said, "Y'all know who's going to win."
And so she, watch this. She hid the child, then she launched the child.
Let Let me talk to somebody here now.
Stop holding on to what God want you to launch.
>> There's a time for hiding and there's a time for releasing.
>> I said there's a time for releasing.
>> I said there's a time for releasing. She she launched him right in the midst of danger. A and and and I thought about it. I thought about it. I thought about it, Tatum. Thought about Quinc and others who graduated. thought about for for 18, 19, 20 years, whatever, your parents, Amen, hid you and covered you, but then they have to release you.
>> And just like MOSES WAS RELEASED, WATCH THIS. Every mo every morning, every morning, we're releasing our children.
Watch this. In the midst of danger, >> even going to the public schools, danger. Even, come on, somebody. Even coming here to ECA, danger. We're living in a terrible world.
>> But you GOT TO TRUST GOD AND RELEASE THEM. AND SO THE GOD THAT THAT THAT THAT that I that I THAT THAT COVERED THEM WHEN I WAS HIDING THEM IS THE SAME GOD THAT COULD COVER THEM AS I RELEASE THEM.
>> Go tell somebody. Tell somebody. Release the child. Release the child >> in the midst of danger.
Now I rub a danger.
Living living creatures danger.
Help me somebody. But watch this. Watch what you release.
Watch who you release. Text says text says text says that that she she she released him. But but she told HER DAUGHTER MIRIAM, "GO STAND behind the re."
>> Some grow up 16 feet OR SO. STAND STAND THERE AND WATCH.
>> Come on, somebody.
>> Tell your neighbor said, "Don't don't just launch them, >> but watch."
>> Yeah. Yeah. Keep in contact. Keep an eye on. And text says that God navigated >> that ark.
>> Somebody holler providence.
>> Providence.
>> Somebody holler preparation.
>> Preparation.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Because Jacob had prepared that thing. She she she prepared that thing. She she made sure it was solid.
She made sure that it would not leak before she placed her child in it.
Then she placed her child and she she she released it and and and Miriam watching it and guess what?
Providence.
The little ark is singing float, float on.
And do you not know that Romans 8:28 was in action?
>> Boat in the Nile. Ark in the Nile. now floating down the river. Come on, somebody. Miriam got her eyes on it.
>> Are y'all here? And would you not know that the timing was providential >> because Pharaoh's daughter >> just so happened >> to be taking her bath >> and she has an entourage with her?
And do you not know that that's the same time that the little ark made its way into her vision?
Help me somebody a a and and she looks into the ark and there is a Hebrew baby boy.
>> Are y'all with me here?
>> Amen, somebody. And and and would you not know that that that that that as the story moves on that that that uh Jacob is called the mama of the child is called to take care of the child the first five years of THE CHILD'S LIFE IN Pharaoh's house.
>> High five somebody and tell them providence is working on my behalf. Now you talking about favor. Come on somebody. If you have FAITH WITH GOD THEN you have favor with God. I said if you have FAITH WITH GOD, THEN YOU HAVE FAVOR WITH GOD. AND GOD admires a woman.
And we admires a mother. Admire a mother WHO HAS FAITH WITH GOD.
>> And have favor with God. Look at yourself and say, "Self, >> I may not have the finances.
>> But if I got the favor, >> I'm going to make it.
>> I'm going to make it."
>> Help me, somebody.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And watch the story.
So for the first five years and psychologists say that the first three to five years sets the course for a child's total life.
>> So so so guess who is taking care of Mo and mama >> and where is she taking care of Mo in Pharaoh's house?
>> Who's footing the bill?
I tell you, if you live right >> AND YOU DO RIGHT, >> GOD EVEN make your enemy take care of you.
>> I wish I had about 15 of y'all to give God praise RIGHT NOW BECAUSE PROVIDENCE is working IN YOUR FAVOR. GOD IS WORKING IN YOUR FAVOR.
>> She was a caring mother. She was creative, but she was a courageous mother. I said she was a courageous mother. Now, the thing I like about uh Jacob Ed was that she did not suffer from what I call the scenario sickness.
Y'all know what that is? What if?
Some of y'all scared to step on faith because you live in the what if.
>> What if I put him in there and a crocodile eat it?
What? What?
What?
What if it sinks? What? What? No, she just trust God >> and released it.
>> I need about six of y'all just said trust God.
>> Trust God >> and release.
>> You see, you see because because the ICE agents were going to come and kill the boy.
>> They were searching the hood. Come on, somebody. But she said, "I might as well trust God."
>> Watch this. If my boy have to die, he going to die because I trust God.
>> And I need about eight of y'all right now to determine that whatever you have, you going to trust God with it.
>> You better learn to trust God with your daughter. Trust God with your son. Trust God with your money. Trust God with your health. Trust God. I SAID TRUST GOD. I said trust God. I said trust God.
>> WON'T GOD WORK it out?
>> Now watch this. Watch this. I'm I'm almost finished. This thing, this thing, this thing, this thing, this thing rocks me. Because what happens, Reverend Jayla, is that he he he Moses ends up with two mamas.
>> And each mama >> taught him or gave him what he needed >> to be who he become. He became his Hebrew mama gave him a relationship, but his Egyptian mama gave him resources.
Y'all going to help me.
what his adopted mama, his Egyptian mama couldn't do.
>> God made sure >> that his real mama >> wouldn't do.
>> Look at somebody tell her, "Will you trust God?
>> Providence will work for you."
He >> his his his his Egyptian mama gave him education, >> but his Hebrew mama made sure he got salvation.
>> Y'all y'all going to help me here?
His his his his Egyptian mama gave him what was temporal, >> but my God, his Hebrew mama gave him what was timeless.
>> Tell somebody, providence is working for you.
>> He his his his his Egyptian mama gave him influence.
>> Help me somebody. YEAH. YEAH. BUT BUT HIS HIS his Hebrew mother gave him inspiration.
>> You see, my brothers and sisters, God will make sure that you are taken care of. Watch this. Because God made your mama a promise.
>> I'm almost finished. I said, I'm almost finished. God uh Okay, let's go back to the book of Genesis. The book of Genesis closes by Joseph dying and Joseph is saying, "Take my bones because God is gonna deliver my people."
Help me somebody. It's the same thing that that that that God told Abraham and Isaac AND JACOB. SO GOD MADE A PROMISE.
TELL SOMEBODY, God made a promise.
>> And sometime this promise was made generations before you came along.
>> Are y'all with me here? And so God is going to make sure that that promise come to fruition.
>> Are y'all with me here? So, so, so, so, so God navigated Moses's life so that everything he needed was supplied.
>> Now, you may go through life not getting everything you want, but God promised to meet every need you have.
>> Help me somebody.
And then, and then and then and then I close. And then and then Moses uh uh killed a man.
>> Y'all don't y'all don't see this in the story, but it's there. It's there. It's there. Mo Moses observed Amen. an Egyptian. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Being mean to one of his fellow brothers.
>> And Moses kills the fellow.
>> But watch this. Even though Moses killed the fellow, Moses did not abort the promise.
Because providence was watching over you.
>> Because God was watching over.
>> Oh, close the sermon, Larry. Close the sermon so these folk can go to take their mommy to breakfast or take their mommy down to Sunday school. Here it is.
God is a God of providence.
>> God moves time and moves with time at the same time.
God is outside of time, but God steps into time. Come on, somebody. At the same time. And so God is all over this story. Amen. With this mother to be admired. And God, Amen, says to this family, Amen, through consequences and circumstances that I am with you and I am for you and I made a promise to you.
And I don't care what happened, that promise will come to fulfillment.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, so, so, so, so providence, preparation, promise.
God's providence is always at work.
>> Even when I'M NOT AT WORK, God's providence is always AT WORK. BECAUSE GOD EVEN WORKS THE NIGHT SHIFT when I am sleeping.
>> So this mother to be admired is a caring mother. She's a creative mother. She's a courageous mother.
Moses ends up being who God has called him to be only because he has a mother who loves him, who gave life to him, who gave the Lord to him by way of passing on her faith tradition.
And guess what? because mother was with him for the first five years of his life, he he never lost his faith.
>> Now those of you who are nervous about whether your child is going to walk away, no, train up a child >> in the way that child should go.
>> And when that child is old, They will not depart from the way.
>> The way may depart from them, but they will not depart from the way. Look at your neighbor and say, "They coming back."
>> Tell somebody else on the other side, "They coming back."
>> Say, "I don't know. I don't know." And you don't know who you talking to. You don't know what what the story is in that life, but they may have a child that's acting crazy now.
But if there's a promise over that child's head, sooner or later, >> they coming back.
>> Can somebody give God praise for the future that God has in store? BECAUSE YOU'RE GOING TO HOLD ON TO the promise.
They are coming back.
Well, let me close.
We send our children to Egypt.
It's called the world.
Egypt is a symbol of the world.
But we send our children covered. We send our children insulated.
We send our children forth into the world that's dangerous. There's no friend of grace.
But we send them with the confidence knowing that providence is on our side.
So I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I didn't make Tatum's graduation or Quinc's graduation, but but uh Caroline and I and some of the other family members made our way down to Fedville State. My great nephew's graduation that was the largest graduation at Fedville State.
It I don't know was I guess it was about four hours too.
Got so cold under I left.
Amen.
But April, his mother, released them and send him forth.
And when you send them forth, you can't control their lives. I know some of us still try to hold on to them like they three years old.
Stop trying to wipe a 21 year old's nose. Let him do something.
And there are people waiting to do him evil and do him wrong.
There are people waiting to take advantage of him and to call him all kinds of names and not give him a start in life. But if you have covered them with the right stuff, >> if you place the right stuff in them >> and in him, even if he lose some steps, he'll come back.
>> And so I praise God for a mother to be admired.
And some of you are like As I shared on this past Wednesday night, I did not grow in a home where I heard I love you, love you, love you. We didn't do a lot of kisses and hugging and all that kind of stuff.
But I knew that my mother loved me.
Everybody's love language is not the same because she sacrificed.
Even though I was not in her midst, she would brag about her little Larry.
I wasn't as blessed as some of you were doing my undergrad studies. Everybody else getting big checks or whatever. I'd get $5, a $5 bill and an envelope with my name on it covered up by a blank piece of paper.
I was able to take that $5. You could do a lot of $5 in the 70s and do what I had to do because I had a mother that I admired.
poor no dog like Jacob is but did their best and raised five boys almost single-handedly.
>> So don't you tell me what cannot be done.
>> Let me talk to you single mothers.
Don't. I know. I know it may be rough, but listen, you can't tell me if you trust God >> what God I wish some single mothers in here what God cannot do.
>> You single mothers, jump up and give God praise right now. I know it might be rough, but you ought to give God praise.
You ought to give God praise. You ought to give God praise. You're still in your right mind. And you ought to give God praise.
Some of you have retired from your jobs.
You ought to give God praise. Some of you send children to college. DON'T KNOW HOW you did it. But God made a way.
God made a way. God made way.
Because like Jacob said, you were lifegiving, lovegiving, Lord giving.
hid your child for a period of time.
You release them to the Lord in the midst of dangerous waters.
But then you watch providence kick in.
And you even watch your enemy help bless you and your child.
>> Stand to your feet. That's it.
Lord, we thank you for the creativity, the courage, the care of a lifegiving, lovegiving, Lordgiving mother.
Lord, we thank you for faith of our mothers living still.
Lord, we thank you, Lord, that this mother birthed her child in faith in the midst of a crisis.
She consecrated him, set him apart, released him, and she watched you, God, take care of him.
She launched him in the midst of danger, but she launched him into the deliverance of your hand.
Lord, I thank you for your timing.
Lord, I thank you for your timing that you did not let a crocodile, you did not let an alligator, you did not let an accident happened on the water.
You navigated him where he need to be.
>> So Lord, we thank you.
And Lord, we pray God that as we push our children downstream as we release them into your life.
And Lord, I thought about digging Gatis spent a number of years faith painting, putting marks on children's faces.
And I think about the role of a mother.
Lord, not face painting but faith painting.
And Lord, the question in this prayer is what kind of marks are we putting on our children?
Not on their faces, but in their faith.
Marks of trust.
marks of affirmation.
So Lord, I thank you as heads are bowed, eyes are closed, and as ministers make their way on this Mother's Day.
There are adult children, young adult children here, honor their mother by their presence. But maybe that's why You thought you came, but maybe the real reason why you came is so that your mother can see you receive Jesus Christ.
>> Because in truth, Mother's Day should be every day.
We should honor and respect and edify our mothers every day of our life through our living.
So now there's one in this building needs to know Jesus Christ in a real and personal way. Will you come right now? Will you come right now? Will you come right now?
Don't make the preacher work hard this morning. Just come on. Give your life to Christ.
Maybe here today and you said, "Pastor Cington, I want to join this church."
Where you go? You're already saved. You know Jesus, but you just need a church home. Come on. Come on. Come on.
Come on. Come on.
Here's the last call. Maybe here you said, "Pastor Cington, listen, I know Jesus. I I'm a member of a church, even if it not ever needs it. But I just want to come and pray. In fact, maybe mother needs to bring a child, an adult child, young child, and say, "Listen, let's pray that God bring us closer as family.
We're living in dangerous waters now.
And there are things a foot to tear your family apart.
Here's a mother and daughter coming.
just for prayer. Let's give God praise.
Someone else. Come on. Come on. Come on.
And And maybe you're not a mother. Maybe you're a grandmother. Listen to me.
There are so many grandmothers raising grandchildren.
You already raised your children, but for whatever reason, you find yourself raising grandchildren.
65, 70 years old, you should be kicking back in the shade with lemonade. But here you go with a two or three, four, five year old child. And you say, "Lord, give me strength.
This little booger about to run me to death. Give me strength."
And you just need God to give you strength.
Bless you.
Bless you.
Somebody else.
It was a rough time to be having children when Jacob bedhead Moses.
And guess what? It's a tough time to have children right now.
My heart was touched. I'm pretty sure yours was also when you watched on the news what of those eight caskets laid out in that church in Louisiana.
Youngest child was what three or four years old up to I think the oldest around 10. The father killed terrible time to have children. That's so much mental illness and so much demonic stuff going on.
evil.
I said evil.
>> Pedophiles and perverse. You don't know what you releasing your child into.
>> It's not just in schools. It's on college campuses also.
And the real deal is it in churches too.
>> So you said, "Who am I talking to?
the Holy Spirit talking to on this Mother's Day.
You don't know where your child at, but but you but you're leaving them in the arms of the Lord.
Some parents, you've called and you've text, but you have not received a call back. Have not received a text back.
Don't know what they doing. Don't know where they at.
But guess what? God's eyes on the sparrow.
Somebody better help me here.
>> God's eyes on the sparrow. He's watching your child.
>> And somebody, some parent, if not here, there's some parent somewhere with all these young children going missing. Almost every day there's one or two kids on social media, their picture, they're missing. Can you imagine how those parents are feeling?
Somebody else need to come and pray.
I'll wait another minute or two while you lose your pride.
And I know we rejoice. I I I get excited when I dedicate babies, but then I think about the world they're growing up in world they're growing up in.
You can't hide them forever.
One day you got to release them.
But as I move this invitation to a close, how many of you can thank God that you had a mother that prayed for you?
How many of you can thank God that you you had a mother that was patient with you? Even while you were doing your mess, your mother was still at her best.
Everybody.
Amen.
Let's give God praise for this word.
As we prepare to close our time together, from Sister Coington and myself to all of you mothers, happy Mother's Day. I pray that you enjoy the rest of your day.
>> Amen.
And if your mother is not only still alive but is an aged mother. How many of your mothers still alive and they're 80 and above?
My Lord. Beautiful. Beautiful. You are rich. You all are rich.
You all are.
Go to that well and drink of that water.
That water of wit, wisdom, that unique way.
I close with this just just a little fun fact.
Desiree has an aunt comes on our prayer time and very seldom she has a prayer request but she's always full of wisdom.
How many of y'all know she's all if you're on the prayer line at 6:15, Mondays and Fridays. I don't know what she say on Wednesdays, but Mondays and Fridays, Miss Ruth, I didn't even know who she was. So, one day she was sitting by, I think it was Tatum's installation service, I mean, license service. She didn't sitting there. She looked at me. I think I'd seen it before because she was here when you hit your book signing etsonated voice. This is Ruth and she opens up with I I look forward to it. She's open she gives about a minute or two of wisdom and it's one of these drop the mic moments.
If you're blessed to have someone I assume she's over 80 also 89 years of age still driving still driving.
>> But uh you have someone in your life that's 80 and over. What about 75 and over? Any you got mothers or something?
All right. Amen.
Tap into that wisdom.
Don't be scared to push them. Set them up so they can tell you stuff. You did what? When? And once they get on a roll, they'll just you walked far to school.
Get a mile longer every year. But love your mothers.
They are national treasures.
Amen.
>> Let's bow together in prayer.
Gracious God, we thank you for the deep reservoir that you have placed in the heart of mothers.
And Lord, I just wanted to teach really didn't do a lot of hollering today just to pull on some principles from a familiar narrative.
to encourage not just mothers but all of us that if we are children of God, providence is working.
God is hooking some stuff up.
>> And even Lord, as I close this prayer, I give you praise because you're hooking some stuff up.
>> I don't know how you're going to work it out, but you're going to do it.
>> And when you fix it, it's going to be fixed.
And then Lord, we thank you for preparation. That mother prepared that child for the dangerous awaiting waters because she sent him out on a promise.
So now, Lord, we thank you.
Send us forth Our I learn class on Genesis, our I learn class on Mark, our regular Sunday school classes all around this campus so that we can be more like you in Jesus name. Amen. Can y'all be seated for just one second? Let me give the rest of these announcements right quick. Right quick. Right quick. I promise I won't be long. Let's continue to pray for Digganist Doris Maxwell, Digan Dwey Maxwell, Brother Mike Gentry, Senior, Brother Michael Graves, Sister Alma Penn, Brother Rodney Tate.
Don't forget about the funeral that I announced earlier. Keep Cam in your prayers. Amen.
Amen. And amen and amen. All right, let's see. Wednesday night, Bible study and prayer meeting as usual.
Next Sunday, Dr. Del Power will be with us for our church anniversary.
Amen. All right. All right. All right. I won't go over anything else. All right.
Let's stand one more time. Some of you ought to get your steps in. You haven't exercised.
Let the church say, "Amen. God has spoken."
Then we give the benediction.
Let the church say, Let the church say amen.
Let the church say God has spoken.
May God's grace be made visible to you as you exit this sanctuary.
May his peace follow you along with goodness and mercy.
May his richest benediction be upon you in Jesus name. Amen. God bless you.
Sunday school starts in seven or eight minutes.
