GRINDING A CORVAIR FLYWHEEL

[00:00:12]Well, look who showed up. Hey, happy Sunday. How we doing? Hey, let's go see what I'm up to. Hey, I got a flywheel off of a Corvair here. I'm going to be grinding this surface, the outer surface, and then he wants me to hit the backside here.

[00:00:31]Let me get it bolted down and dialed in.

[00:00:34]So, here we go. I got it dialed in. I'm going to cut this surface first. I have to maintain this 125,000 step. So, I'll cut this and whatever I take off of this, I'll cut off of this outer ring.

[00:02:18]Now I got to change the setup to cut this.

[00:03:46]Now let me flip it over and cut the other side.

[00:03:50]All right, now I'm set up here on the backside.

[00:04:02]Now, listen to it hitting in three spots.

[00:04:06]Just like the other ring on the opposite side.

[00:05:13]Here's a look at that pressure plate.

[00:05:14]It's got the ring gear welded to it.

[00:05:21]All right, what a quirky design, huh?

[00:05:23]Um, so I didn't have all three of the pieces. Uh, here's an image of it. It's It's super weak and a horrible design.

[00:05:30]So, this is the piece that bolts to the crankshaft, and then it is connected to this piece, which is riveted to the flywheel at ground.

[00:05:38]Well, look who showed up. What do you need? Do you need something, mister?

[00:05:45]Get bully gear.

[00:05:49]What a stupid design, huh? Hey, the bolts that go into the flywheel from the end of the crankshaft are 11/32.
