Cooler temps for Chicago on Thursday

[00:00:00]Chief Meteorologist Albert Ramon is in the weather sphere and for all those in Rome and so many across Europe, they're dealing with some really record heat, Albert.

[00:00:08]>> Yeah, it's going to be steamy and hot tomorrow in Vatican City. Looking for a high temperature around 90. Enough instability and humidity that thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon in Rome and thunderstorms that do develop there could actually be strong or severe. Thunder, lightning, maybe some gusty winds upwards of 60 mph. Mainly dry as we head towards Friday, but still hot at 85. Sunshine and 88° in Vatican City and Rome on Saturday. We're going to be a lot cooler here, about 10° cooler tomorrow compared to today. Thanks to this, a front is sliding through the area right now. Had some showers and thunderstorms up in Wisconsin. Those are falling apart as we speak. Some scattered clouds that will be passing through over the next couple of hours. It's 57 at Waukegan. It's 20 to 20° cooler now than earlier this afternoon. In Chicago, it's 63. Still 79 though in Ottawa. The front quite hasn't made it out in the far southwest suburbs, but it's 58 right now in Uptown. 59 the current temperature in Gary and cooling temperatures continue to spread inland. The winds are starting to pick up and that will be the case as we roll through the remainder of the night through tomorrow. And with strong winds perpendicular to the lake shore, a rip current risk will be on the increase. So, dangerous swimming conditions, that's why a beach hazard is in place. And these gusty winds are going to build the waves tonight through tomorrow. 7-ft waves will be possible over Lake Michigan. That's why that beach hazard also included for dangerous boating conditions. All right, let's head into tomorrow morning. Upper 50s and low 60s, strong winds off the lake.

[00:01:28]Lots of sunshine as we head into tomorrow afternoon with the coolest readings lakeside staying in the 60s near the lake. It'll be about 71° at O'Hare Midway, but 82 in Morrison, 86 in Ottawa. But overall, the coolest temperatures from the north shore to the loop in the 60s. And we'll look for temperatures to be in the mid-60s here along the rim of the lake. Also northwest Indiana, but move inland just a few miles and you'll get back in the 70s. All right, let's fast forward to your Friday. 50s to start the day, some scattered clouds. We'll look for sunshine mixing in cloud cover in the afternoon on your Friday. The wind still off the lake, so still cooler lakeside, but back in the 70s it'll be 80s inland.

[00:02:04]And then overall cooler as we head towards this weekend, but still very comfortable. And actually these readings Saturday and Sunday average for this time of the year. 76 on Saturday, 77 on Sunday, but upper 60s and low 70s expected right along the lake shore if your plans take you to the beaches this weekend. Next week at 76° still cooler by the lake on Monday. Lots of sunshine and temperatures right around 80° as we get towards the middle part of next week, but still cooler by the lake.
