Weather forecasting involves analyzing precipitation patterns, atmospheric pressure systems, and historical data to predict future conditions; in this case, Columbus, Ohio experienced its fourth rainiest May on record with nearly 8.5 inches of rainfall, but high pressure systems moving in will bring drier conditions, comfortable temperatures, and lower humidity for the coming days.

Columbus, OH evening forecast | Light rain continues tonight, but drier weather aheadAdded:
Not a great day to fly today. It's getting It's getting a little better though. Our 10 weather impact forecast the alert for more rain lasting through the evening here. Spot on with what you called for for today. Yeah, I mean it came in. I mean it we got a walloping.
Oh, we did.
We did. And I heard there were like storms overnight really bad. I slept right through them but my husband said, "You didn't hear that?" We woke up to rivers. Yeah, you know I did too. I mean there's water everywhere in my yard. I mean there's just a Did you check your basement yet by the way? I'm afraid. I'm afraid to go down there. Put it off, ignore it. There's nothing wrong with it. Send the kids on the recon mission.
>> [laughter] >> Uh so weather wise do you think it'll come back? One last little area of rain to go and then we're out of this but we are at now the fourth rainiest May on record here in the Columbus area. I'm surprised it's not the first. My goodness it's been a long time.
>> It's not that far up the list I know.
Yeah, it's not that far up but we are sitting in the fourth position right now at almost 8 and 1/2 inches of rainfall.
Uh we can still pick up a little bit more tonight. You can see the uh we might be able to close that gap.
We'll see. I don't know if we'll pick up quite that much to move into third but up at the top of the list 1882 with 9 and 1/2 inches up there. Here's radar.
So one last little wave of rain to come through coming out of western Ohio now moving into central Ohio. This is going to be light rain compared to what we had this morning when we were got hit with that that downpour and that flash flood warning here in parts of Franklin County. That will not be the case tonight. In fact, once we get past 8:00 this will have all moved through and we'll see much drier conditions.
Here's the view outside across the Scioto Audubon Park camera here. Cloudy skies, some rain showers inbound coming in from the west. Rain chances over the next 12 hours they're high right now through about 6:00 p.m. and then they drop all the way down to 10% by 7:00 and then zero all the way through the night into the morning rush tomorrow. So it's just the next couple of hours. It'll be drier after 8:00 tonight. Then the entire pattern is is to change across Ohio. We have high pressure coming in, which means a lot of dry weather. We've got comfortable temperatures, lower relative humidity, and just overall a long dry stretch ahead of us. Now, once we get rid of the the rainfall tonight, skies will clear. We may see some fog pop up in a couple of areas into the morning hours tomorrow. Overnight lows 59-60° here across Central Ohio. Precip chances are zero all the way through Thursday into Wednesday of next week.
Again, it's just not often you see this play out in Central Ohio. Here's our forecast radar, the hour by hour. So, there's our little wave of rain coming through. There it is at 7:00 tonight.
Again, just light colors here. We aren't dealing with the big thunderstorms.
Those are all to the south across Southern Ohio into parts of West Virginia. And then by 11:00 tonight, it's all over. It's done. We'll start the drying trend. We'll have clear skies. Again, a little bit of fog in some areas into the morning hours tomorrow. This is Thursday at 5:00 a.m.
We're in good shape. At the lunch hour, a lot of sunshine, nice day to get outside, take a walk. And then by the end of the day, it is still dry on Thursday. Any additional rainfall tonight will be pretty light, 10th of an inch here, maybe 3/10 of an inch in a couple spots, heavier down in the southern counties. Low temperatures overnight tonight 59-60°, and high temps tomorrow with a lot of sunshine at 77°. Here's your 10 weather impact 7-day forecast. So, it is a dry stretch all the way through.
Lots of sunshine, dry into the weekend, Saturday, Sunday looking really good.
And then into next week, I don't have any rain. In fact, not a drop through Wednesday. High temperatures will stay pretty much the same every single day, 75-76-77°.
