Added:Good evening everyone. Welcome back here to a Sunday night. It is the Earthmaster out here, July 19th, 2026, 10:58 p.m.
California time. Latest activity here on the earthquake 3D globe. Looks like a 1.7 across the uh Texas area out there in the oil fields of Texas.
Starting real quick first though with the trimmer counts out here. Look at this. Slow slip events are getting on the uh elevated side once again across the southern end of the Cascadia subduction zone. Uh looking at a uh a decent number there, 483 tremor counts and that's down south here across the southern end a little bit underneath Oregon up here in between Eugene and Salem around Corbalis that uh is some elevated activity and I think I called that this morning. Uh last night we did have some activity out here in the Gorda Ridges. There was a little bit of earthquake activity out here yesterday that came in late last night, but the trimmer counts update around 6:00 p.m. every day, West Coast time. So, um the activity that stirred up here last night, 9:40 in the morning or in the evening, excuse me, um is a sign that this is spreading further.
It's a spreading seafloor center out here and it creates uh these gorta ridges and ultimately it does strain the area down south here at the southern end. So it looks like this gorda plate is being further shoved underneath this region as noted here by the 483 epicenters of slow slips today. So this got totaled tallied up there from about 6 pm yesterday till 6 pm today. Things are uh stressing out here across the southern end of the Cascadia. Uh far as earthquake activity goes, there's uh been a couple here this morning and just before noon. I don't see anything else showing up, but I do have um one station up here that I'm watching, the Petroleia station. I'm watching that pretty closely to see if anything pops up that maybe is not being reported.
Uh but for now, we'll keep an eye on that. the southern end of the Cascadia, San Francisco region, quiet once again.
Not a whole lot going on out there. I I don't think that's normal. I mean, normal would be at least some smaller quake activity out here on any given day. And it's just been absolutely quiet. Um, same for the area down south here along the Parkfield section. Pretty quiet. Go back to the terrain model so we can see these quakes. Uh, Southern California, a little spotty down here.
Not a whole lot happening today. Nothing above 2.5 across the southern portion of the state. Uh a little quiet, but these quiet spells, they come and go.
Yellowstone National Park, nothing showing up there, but we will verify that and see if that is indeed the case out here.
Uh there was a little swarm here last week. Let's check out this seismograph station. See if there's anything. Not a whole lot. This looks like wind or thunderstorms earlier. uh which shows up on the seismograph stations when they're exposed to the elements like that.
Oil fields of Texas still rocking and rolling. So, let's see what we got here far as uh newer activity uh since this morning's update. We're watching a decent swarm of well, it's aftershock activity, but it's been quite elevated there across the uh southern Mexico and Guatemala area where that 7.3 struck here last week. lot of aftershock activity. Also, the South America area starting to stir up with quite a few threes and fours. Looks like all the subduction zones out here are starting to ramp up a little bit. If you look over here across Iran, they're seeing some activity stirring up as well. Let's go see what we got here.
Um, right along the plate boundary here, we got a 4.9 and a 5.2 earthquake earlier this evening.
Now, last 30 days, a little quiet here within this region, but it looks like some activity working its way north. Um, outside of Baghdad, this area historically can get some very large damaging earthquakes. If you look here at the historical model um where the uh activity is today and go back and look at the seismic activity historically, they they get some big earthquakes up there in the seven range.
uh around where the activity is occurring today. So, just kind of keep an eye on that. Nothing big going on for now, but a little bit of interesting activity north here uh near this area in Iran.
Um the rest of the region out here, the Atlantic Ocean looks pretty quiet. Not a whole lot going on out there for now.
Japan got a couple earthquakes down south. Same for the Curl Cam Chaka area.
Philippines a little light. I think that's good news, right? considering they've been bombarded with a whole bunch of earthquake activity recently.
So, those folks definitely need a little break from all that shaking they've had.
But doesn't mean that, you know, don't get complacent out there because there's still a lot of potential out there for large earthquake activity. We have yet to see. Uh watching the Manila trench there closely.
Java Trench pretty active.
But uh that's uh about uh any given day there that we see that type of activity down across New Zealand 4.4 and a 3.2 earlier today. This area has been uh kind of acting up as well. I've seen an increase in the earthquake activity. But little quakes it may seem like they're doing us a favor. You know, thinking that they may be relieving stress, but they really don't. Okay? These little four-pointers don't relieve stress whatsoever.
So, you got to have to got to think about that. So, the Alpine fault there uh capable of producing, I believe, about a 7.5, maybe an upper 7.
You know, how many 4.4 earthquakes it would take? Hold on.
How many 4.4 earthquakes would it take to be the equivalent of a 7.5 earthquake?
How many 4.4 and four earthquakes would it take to be the equivalent of a 7.5 earthquake?
I know there's a mathematical equation there to figure that out, but I don't want to go in and do that. So, technically, it would take 44,668 earthquakes of magnitude 4.5 to be the equivalent of a 7.5. Just one single 7.5. So, you know, when we see these fours and fives pop up, they're not doing anything. It's just a sign here of increasing pressure in the region. It's only the big ones that can relieve the strain out here. We have not seen one yet.
Alaska, some activity stirring up.
Nothing big. Uh let's take a look here at the aftershock sequence again. Once again. Once once again. Once again. All right. I'm ready for bed.
Yeah, it's been kicking uh pretty good out here. Quite a few fours, quite a few fives. um still only had one sixpointer and that was just about uh 25 or 30 minutes or so following the 7.3 here last week.
So, but there's quite a few fours in there, man. Bunch of fours, bunch of fives, and some smaller quake activity as well noted here on the earthquake 3D globe. Some deeper activity here across uh looks like Colombia. Let's see.
Underneath the Jordan, Colombia area, 94 miles deep, associated with the Well, there's a couple different subduction zones here.
Um, Hawaii. Anything going on out there?
A little bit of activity up around Monaloa. Some activity underneath the big island. Let's go see what we got here for the latest Kilaway volcano inflation charge here. Let's take a look at that.
See if it's working tonight.
Oh, it's been a long weekend.
We're going up going up here. There's the uh last eruption here back on the 15th or so. Uh we're on our way up to see another eruption soon. This one here though, it's shooting up pretty quickly.
So, we'll have to watch for any deflationary events that would offset the time, but this one's shooting up really quick here. Let's see if they got any type of uh window here as far as the next eruption goes. This was put out Sunday uh early in the Hawaii time at 9:06.
Um, looks like they're thinking around July 24th to the 30th for the next eruption. So, that's that Kilawea volcano on the Big Island in Hawaii.
Uh, let's see here what we got.
Man, look at that. Look at the speed of the solar wind down there at 275. That's pretty low. nothing coming in. Um, we are starting to kick up a little bit here. Let's go to the last 24 hours up into the seafler category. So, we're starting to raise up on the X-ray flux chart and that's thanks to a couple sunspots coming around the eastern limb here. Notice these bright features there indicating some flaring. Uh, now I think the main area that we're going to watch here that we need to watch is still on the far side. Uh, did this update? This is somewhat recent. Not really too concerned with this region anymore. I'm looking at this area back down here. And I think let's see if we can see any signs of that. Just barely, maybe just barely right here. Um, but I don't want to jump to conclusions and say it's dead or or if it's going to stir up, you know, some flaring activity until we see the magnetogram image. But this one here, it's decayed a lot um before coming back into the earth directed view. This was out here a couple weeks ago uh throwing off bunch of M and X flare activity. Uh but this one looks like it's no longer a threat for solar flares. The area of interest is going to be back over here. We'll get a little bit better glimpse of that tomorrow morning. Also, it looks like here we got a got this sunspot popping up out of the out of the uh blue. so to speak. This was this morning here. And if you look at the most recent update, we're noticing some defining colors here indicating magnetic complexity within that sunspot. This is a a weird looking one.
So, I'm going to have to watch that. It looks like it wants to pop up and maybe uh turn into a rapidly growing sunspot.
I mean, right now it's definitely growing. We'll see how much it grows here overnight. We'll check back on that in the morning.
uh that is currently uh facing the planet. This other one not really too concerned about, but we'll watch this one for sure. Uh overall flare threat right now is still pretty low. 55% chance for C flare. M flare 15% chance.
X flare at 1% chance there. So there's not uh a whole lot of flaring potential, but that could change.
Uh the aurora forecast looks like potentially here on the 22nd the UTC time they got a KP index up around a five or so. That's a G1 class storm. Oh, that's got to be from the chronal hole.
That's the only thing I can think of.
This chronal hole um right here 79 is currently facing the planet. Uh and it's a lengthy one. It's got a little bit of width to it, but not all that impressive.
Um, but yeah, that's definitely the high-speed solar wind stream coming in.
And we can double check that and verify that from the uh, uh, space weather prediction center. We go down here and check out the solar wind prediction. Uh, sun in the yellow, earth in the green, stereo a in the red. Let's take a look.
This is plasma density up here. This is a radial velocity and speed.
Uh, there's that high-speed solar wind stream there. Look at that. just a really thick band of of um solar wind. And that does appear like it will elevate and reach the planet here about 700 kms or so on the um 22nd or so. So, we'll have to check back on that as we get a little bit closer there to the uh to that time period.
All right. So to start the work week here for Monday, this is the forecast out here from the storm prediction center in enhanced zone uh indicating a potential for some strong tornado activity there across those regions listed on the map. Madison, Wisconsin, Cedar Rapids, those areas also some big time wind potential and some very large hail potential as well. So, it's going to be one of those uh one of those starts to the work week there where well, make sure if you're at work, find a find an awning or something to keep your vehicle under if you like your vehicle like me. I don't want any hell dents in my vehicle, so I would do what I can to uh protect it. Yes, insurance covers it, but you know, it's a headache. Just avoid it. Um, as far as uh any tropical systems, yes, there's this area down there off the coast of Florida. We'll double check that and see if there's been any updates. Uh, it's looking like it will stay as a tropical storm. Um, doesn't have a lot of g uh gain ground out here. No, uh, ground to really gain any momentum.
So, it's looking like this will stay as a tropical storm. um as it makes its way westward here, bringing with it quite a bit of rain. Uh that's for certain. Uh but looking at the intensity guidance here, lowgrade tropical storm, you know, peak winds there, 40, 50 knots, not all that impressive, but h you know, could stir up some waves out there for sure. Uh but really not expecting much of anything.
And if you go over here and look at the um uh look at this. When was the last time you seen California with the spaghetti models from a hurricane? Well, it's going to be a very weak, very weak system. It's going to dissipate before it reaches land. But this is the path of the area of circulation. Looks like it's going to head over my neck of the woods here over on around Chico. Um but by then it's going to be just completely, you know, kapuned. It's going to be a depression here come Wednesday morning.
And there's just not a whole lot of uh potential with that. It's just going to bring up the humidity and probably the due point a little bit. But as you can see, it dissipates completely before reaching San Francisco.
Um and then after that uh another system there is just a train of systems out there in the eastern Pacific and that's due to the El Nino. Uh just storm after storm. I'm it would be nice, you know, if we could get one up here to drop some moisture. You know, any kind of moisture out here this time of year would be beneficial for us. We just don't get rain in the summertime. That's that's not what happens here in California. So, it would be um it would be nice. I don't see anything yet though long term.
Uh we can check out the assembles here as far as pressure differences. See if there's any massive ridges forming out here. Uh I hope there's not. Oh man, look at that. I think they call that the death ridge out here. Completely eliminates severe weather south. Uh but up north here in Canada, you end up with a lot of severe weather. Uh hot. Looks like this is going to be a hot July, end of July. After that, uh man, it just wants to sit over the west coast, doesn't it? Not good.
So, it's just it's going to be a hot one. It's going to be a scorcher out here for sure. Let's see what the Climate Prediction Center's forecasting.
There's that massive high pressure ridge there. 8 to 14 day forecast increasing the temperature outlook. Uh near normal for us means nothing. we just don't get rain uh above normal for the desert southwest there for monsunal moisture and also across the east. That's for the 8 to 14 day forecast there that's stretching into the 2nd of August. Now the 6 to 10 day forecast looks roughly about the same there. Got that massive high pressure uh ridge building dominating across the center portion of the country.

And it's I put a lot of work into this already and I haven't decided what I want to do with it as far as I don't want to give it away. I just don't want to give it away. It is something that I'm working really hard on and I'm again I'm only a fraction of the way done. Uh but I've had a lot of interest in this and I want to put it out there but I don't want to give it away for free. So, I don't know exactly what my price is going to be on this and then I have to add it on to a um you know an app store of some sort. So, there's a lot to it. I have to think about that one. I like it, but I'm thinking there might be a little bit better name for that.

Seismograph stations out there look pretty quiet. I don't see any big activity at the moment. In fact, if you look here at the largest event today, it's been probably those earthquakes in um uh the Mexico area, the aftershocks, one in Iran, so we only had two five pointers today. Bunch of fours there. Um but it's it's been kind of a quiet day in terms of large activity.
