A police officer who went viral for dragging and handcuffing an elderly man in Taguig City has been immediately placed under restrictive custody.
[music] A heated exchange occurred during the confrontation between the police officer and National Police Commission [music] Chief Attorney Rafael Calinisan. The officer insisted he should not be used for media publicity or self-promotion, [music] saying he should not be made a prop for anyone seeking attention in the media.

>> The struggles of the 76-year-old barangay driver proved futile as he was being arrested by a police officer. The elderly man was already having difficulty breathing due to the physical struggle with the officer.
>> [laughter] >> He was eventually handcuffed against his will. He was then dragged and forcibly placed inside a private vehicle. The [clears throat] incident stemmed from a reported traffic accident in which the elderly man allegedly hit the police officer's vehicle.
The incident took place in Taguig City.
The police officer seen in the video holds the rank of Corporal and is assigned to the Rizal Police Provincial Office. The officer was immediately placed under restrictive custody. The National Police Commissioner Napolcom also summoned the officer for investigation and to explain his side.
However, during the press briefing, the accused officer pushed back against the allegations. He claimed that some of the statements made by Napolcom Chairman Attorney Rafael Calinisan were not true.
He also said he should not be used as a tool for media publicity.
Napolcom said the officer's treatment of the elderly man was unacceptable.
Napolcom also pointed out that the elderly man was allegedly not informed of his Miranda rights before the arrest.
It was also revealed that the officer had previously faced various administrative complaints and violations. The Rizal Police Provincial Office also condemned the officer's behavior. Ryan Lesigues from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
