Finding work.Added:
Well, hello folks off YouTube. My name's Ian. Welcome to me channel.
I'm the ongoing saga of the garden upgrade.
I'm sort of pretty much done in here of things today. I've got to mend the door.
I've got to paint the top.
I've got to got a lot of block paving to go all the way up there. Or I could just fill it in with sand and cement.
>> [sighs] >> As I know the video, I've got an idea about that. I've got to try make [music] something to make me life easier.
But this video, well when I put these lights up at uh Christmas I noticed I've got a bit of rotten wood up there.
Let's go over there.
Yeah. So all the way across here it's just some skirting board I found and uh it it it it's it's rotten.
And here where I pieced it totally rotted and disappeared.
And the underlying wood is also started to rot.
And that we cannot have.
So we need to uh sort this out.
For that, we need to go for a little walk.
Like I said, we don't have to walk far.
I just live around that corner there. Yeah, that that house.
So we was out here yesterday morning and we was taking the baby for a walk in the pram.
And I got to uh I got to where that white van is.
Where I saw these these lot They're building a a dormer on the house. Like a bedroom sticking out. To do that, they had to take all the fascia off the front.
And they threw it there.
It was there.
Safety crocs.
Yeah. So, what I said, it was there.
It's now here.
What does it look like?
It looks like this. Fascia board.
And I was thinking, I could use that.
That big lip.
I could fit over the edge of here, rip that off, put that in its place.
Like that.
And then, it won't rot.
Huh.
Damn.
Look at the size of this garage roof, which means the main garage is that big inside.
You wouldn't believe that, would you?
All right.
I'm going to get all this stuff off and uh figure out Unfortunately, that one got a big chunk out the middle, but I'm sure I can I can I can fix it.
I can.
Well, that top ripped off, we can see we've got a little bit more rot. A lot more rot, to be honest. And that's just That's just rotted off.
Uh what's this?
That's a big piece of 60 60 angle iron.
That was to make still is to make uh a bench folder.
Hm, one day when I'm retired when I've done every other job.
So hm I think I need to get these rotten bits off.
That don't seem too bad.
Oh, so that's screwed to this.
That was screwed to that with these hex head long screws.
Oh, that's heavy.
Like that.
So go on.
You can't make an omelette without breaking an egg.
Let's get breaking some eggs.
A feather.
That means that angel been nearby.
Right.
Stop procrastinating.
Look at all that space I've got under there.
All of it.
That's That's [snorts] amazing.
Huh.
Well, don't you just love how a little job gets turned.
So I've managed to extract all but one of these long bolts.
That's That's That's That's a I'll tell you what I'll do.
Get a pair of mole grips, clip it on the end, pull it out. You know what happened?
As you can see, uh snapped off.
So, I'll give it a little bit of pondering and I thought, really?
>> [snorts] >> I can get a angle grinder slitting disc in that in that slit there.
I can cut through that and uh take this board off.
What do you reckon?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
Give it a try, yeah?
Wouldn't like shark scrapper me picking me up.
Well, that worked there.
I'll work further along.
There we go.
Ah.
If you listen quietly, you can hear the birds tweeting.
Beautiful and peaceful.
You know, it's a Saturday night. It's uh uh 10 to 7.
Oh.
Peaceful.
Have now.
Just listen to that beautiful birdsong.
Beautiful.
Oh, I got to get this lot over there.
Well, that's uh got rid of the most of it.
As you can see, still quite a gap there.
I don't know why I didn't fill that in years ago.
Anyway, in the I've got some flashing, which I can uh put all the way along there and uh seal that gap up.
Then, probably put a another piece across the top.
Mhm.
And put that plastic over.
That's the plan. But, at the moment, got to tell you, I'm I'm I'm I'm running out of steam now.
You know, been at it for a for a while.
So, there's only one thing to do, isn't there? There's only one thing to do when you're running out of steam.
Put some steam back in you.
I'm going to call that tonight.
Half a day's work in front of me tomorrow.
We'll get it sorted. We've got a whole week of beautiful sunny weather going.
In fact, a mini heatwave.
Ideal for getting these outside jobs done before I go back in there.
Sort the shed out.
See you all in the next one.
