A tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been sighted or indicated by radar, requiring immediate shelter in an interior room away from windows, while a flash flood warning indicates rapidly worsening flooding conditions with potential for multiple inches of rain in a short period, requiring drivers to avoid flooded roads and seek higher ground.

Tornado WarningAdded:
This is a clouds weather alert.
Meteorologist Casey Cloud live with you here on this Memorial Day afternoon. We have a tornado warning in effect now for portions of Gadson and Decar counties.
Say we need to get folks into shelter immediately. I know you have a lot of outdoor activities. I know uh here on this holiday and we unfortunately have a potential circulation setting up right now. So, a dangerous scenario. Not really expecting tornatic activity today, but sometimes things here just come together in the wrong way atmospherically, you know, in terms of some of the overall setups here in terms of the parameters. So, let me go ahead and read you the information. I have it in thermal relative velocity. You see some green and red coming together. And then here's the reflectivity mode of radar. At 12:46, a severe thunderstorm capable producing a tornado was located near Greensboro, 10 miles west of Quincy, moving north at 15 miles an hour. Uh this is impacting mainly rural areas in northwestern Gadston and southwestern Decar counties including the following locations. Hardway, Jinx, Mount Pleasant, Rosedale, Recovery, Faceville, and Greta. So again, we have a tornado warning now in effect. This was not really anticipated today in terms of getting things to come together like this, but here we are. We need to get you guys to take those tornado precautions immediately. We do have a marginal risk for severe weather here.
Uh but the tornado threat was supposed to be off toward our west toward the western Florida panhandle, south and central Alabama, east, south and east Mississippi there. That area is a low threat anyway, but we do have a formal risk, but it's for wind damage here in the latest outlook that came out a little after 12 o'clock. So again, we're not anticipating some tornatic activity here in our local areas today, but here we are. We have that potential near and just really north of I 10. So again, I know the Teleahassator is down. It would really help us right now. But we had some of that spin come together. I'm scrubbing back. You can see it was kind of hitting around the interstate there for a little bit.
And we're just going to, you know, I scrubbed all the way out to 12:15. You can see how it just kept trying to get us together there, you know, around the interstate. And finally, we got the red box issue here. Went from a no warning straight to a tornado warning. So, a tricky setup here. I know people, including myself here on the holiday, you know, it's something where you're not looking at the radar every single minute. But, uh, you know, we've been on forever tornado warnings since late 2019 for our covered area. We're getting on no matter what here thankfully. I saw it here pretty quick and ran here into the studio to give you guys the very latest.
Again, we have a tornado warning for parts of Gadston and Decatur until about 1:30. We need you guys to take shelter and a tornado warning in effect right now. Things, you know, taking that unfortunate weather turn here on Memorial Day around Oak Grove. I know you see it's between Hardway and Oak Grove. It's moving north into South Georgia right now. It's a situation here where I know we had Memorial Day about a decade ago around Jacksonville where we had a hail storm set up. Uh maybe maybe a little bit more than a decade ago now, but uh you know, so we have had some weird stuff happen day and I guess he just added this one to the list right here. A random tornado warning pretty early in the afternoon. I mean, it's not even 1:00. We have a potential tornado here in our area. We need you guys to take shot. We're staying wallto- wall until this ends here. potential tornado in toward the uh Florida Big Ben moving into South Georgia here. Again, Gadston indicator, you need to take your tornado precautions. Again, take those tornado precautions. Interior room away from windows. If you hear, you know, that freight train noise, you know, you should already have your bicycle helmet ready to put on. You need to put that helmet on and, you know, try to take those precautions. Again, this is a dangerous situation here. Looking at debris tracker. I'm scrubbing between some things. I know it's a situation. It looks slightly weaker. that spin. But the problem is our Tallahassee radar is down, you know, and that might tell us, you know, maybe, okay, there's not a tornado here. Oh, there might be one and maybe we wouldn't even had to have this warning to begin with if that was working. But, uh, we're about 5,000 ft up. Normally, we don't have this poor radar coverage here. But, uh, let's look at some other radars out here right now.
Uh, we're going to look. That looks tight from the radar way out at Eggland.
It's about 5,000 ft up as well. Uh, so that's kind of intriguing to see. Uh, let me back this up a little bit. I mean, it wasn't as tight there around 12:34 p.m., but then you saw how it tightened up as it crossed I 10 there.
And then this a situation where uh we're just uh continuing to watch, continuing to track here again on this Memorial Day. We have a tornado warning, a potential tornado here in the Florida Big Ben region. It's about to be getting into the Oak Grove community there around US 90 and then up toward areas there on State Road 97. So again, we have a potential tornado here. Uh you need to take those precautions immediately. Again, uh we were not really anticipating this potential today, you know, but you just never know here. It's Florida weather. It's South Georgia weather. We have folks like Nicole watching on YouTube. I appreciate you tuning in. Again, this is a tornado warning that was issued there for parts of our area.
We didn't even have the marginal risk here uh for our area until just in this last hour. I mean, you know, things have escalated here a little bit in terms of that. You know, getting to the marginal for the wind, but the marginal for tornado is still to the west here. You know, maybe those uh let me just broaden this real quick here on the view. maybe those out there on some of the different beaches could have some water spout potential here later today as we're looking out there whether it's in our area even points west and you know so this is something to be mindful of but you a little cooler out there we're a little warmer here toward Tallahassee let me put up some of the parameters here the instabilities are quite a bit higher out to the east and you're on the edge of some supercell composite it's not high these values here you know I mean we're seeing some just to the north of this so it's in the vicinity of some spin at least we have a little bit of holicity sewing up in here, but not a whole bunch. You know, as I'm looking at some of these parameters, again, this is a surprise. Uh we try to be honest with you here. Uh we were, you know, not really anticipating tornatic potential.
Again, there's not even a marginal risk here until just in the last hour for wind damage. And now we have a tornado here potentially in our western areas.
We don't cover Seminal County anymore, but we covered Gats and we covered Decar and we need you guys to take shelter again. That didn't look like a lot from there. It was a lot more a few scans ago. So maybe it's weakening, you know, here. Again, we don't have the greatest radar coverage. Hopefully, it's this broad level rotation. But again, we're just continuing to watch. This is still showing up pretty tight from the Eggland, but that's a few minutes old now. Let me check it from the four Rucker radar. That looks pretty weak there again. So, that's good news.
That's about 5,000 feet up. But let's check the egg. It's a little behind, but it's about Io 5,500 or so feet up. And it was tighter. We'll see if the next scan's a little weaker. Okay, it's weaker now. So, they may drop this pretty soon. Uh, which would be some great news. But officially, it goes to 130. This is about to cross into Georgia east of Chattahuchi. Uh, there as we're looking but around the Oak Grove community get a tornado warning here on this Memorial Day. Again, a potential tornado impacting parts of our area. We need you guys until they dropped the warning. You know, the old saying goes in the meteorology community. I mean, I think team span was the one to say it years ago. You got to respect that polygon. So, again, we really need to be, you know, doing that here until they drop this warning. Again, we have a potential tornado here going from Gadston into the Kar County there in Georgia. Again, a potential tornado. So, you know, theoretically, again, I think the chances are dropping now some, but again, rotation tracker not really showing it now, but around I 10 when it started picking up and, you know, as it was around there, you know, from Greensboro and then we had a warning get issued right as it was getting past Greensboro into Hardway and moving up toward Oak Grove there. Again, a potential tornado on this Memorial Day.
Again, it's all about impacting, you know, unfortunately, this could be you, your friends, your family, and we want to protect you, your friends, your family. So again, a potential tornado here on this Memorial Day Monday. We're just trying to give you guys the very latest or folks traveling. You know, obviously this was setting up around I 10 a little bit and then getting a little bit further north. Definitely something to be cognizant of. So again, you just got to be mindful here of the situation. Remember, we go wall to wall for all tornado warn storms and we've done every single one. I don't know how you know it's it's a lot of you know lost sleep here over the years just not this afternoon but just over the years you know in terms of having to go live for these tornatic situations here you know just every single one but somehow done it here for our counties even here on Memorial Day when it's not really necessarily anticipated. So again, uh, you know, just got to be really mindful here of the situation. No matter what, we're on wall to wall for these tornado warn storms. Again, really, you know, just uh important to be keeping our eyes on here. You know, it's about protecting you, your friends, and your family. I know, you know, we've talked about it there toward the beaches, you know, with rip currents and things like that. Well, tornadoes can be a danger here. you know, very rarely in this, you know, you know, time of year, but we've had that.
But now it looks like they just dropped the warning, which is great news. Uh, let me go ahead and take off our information now. So, I think they have this dropped that tornado warning. I'm going back it up one scan and we'll see what it said here. So, at 10:02 p.m., the storm, which prompted a warning, has weakened below severe limits and no longer appears capable producing a tornado. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled. So, again, that's great news.
Again, the tornado warning for Gadston indicator. Now, if they go to the latest scan has been cancelled. So, no longer a tornado warning here in effect. Again, we had a tornado warning there for just a little bit around 15 minutes or so uh there this afternoon. Again, it was, you know, one of the more surprising ones we've had here probably since I've been doing cloud last half decade. There may be a couple that were leaving a little more surprising, but this is up there on that near the top of that list for, you know, it was 62 counties, now we're 38 counties here. Let me remind you guys, and I'll get it together here in just a second. I got a again, we, you know, weren't necessarily expecting to have to go live here like this, you know, unless it was for a severe thunderstorm situation. We having to just jump in as quick as we could, you know, with a tornado situation. So, I need to get through some of these here and I'll get it up in just a second. But again, let me go ahead and see what we have there in terms of cloud weather country, you know, in terms of that coverage map here. Just to remind you guys of we're always on, you know, for any tornado warn storm here moving through a 38 county area. Again, we just had a potential tornado there, Gats Decater on the Doppler radar. The greens, you know, that meant wind going toward the radar sites. that we were looking at red winds going away from the radar sites, but things have now broadened on out. Uh, which is great news. Obviously, great news here as we're looking and as we're tracking. That's what we like to see and no longer a tornado warning in effect.
But again, uh we're just here with you guys again giving you guys the very latest here. Uh, you know, as conditions do warrant.
Again, let me go ahead right now jump away from the graphics mode here. We'll get back on over to some of the other modes here that we have at our disposal in the weather center. Again, uh looking at things, you can see we have a significant other advisory still some thunderstorm activity around. Uh but nothing just too crazy here as we're looking in terms of anything, you know, with that tornatic potential at the moment. But that's why we're on the air.
A lot of you guys, you know, probably kind of seeing this pop up on your phone would be, you know, coming in or seeing the alert. You know, you probably just want to know what's going on. I see we have, you know, if you were there from Bainbridge watch and, you know, watches all the time here in Decar County. So, let me let me just kind of look at Bainbridge a little bit more carefully here as we look toward that area. So, we had that spin obviously that we were tracking, but that has really broadened out. Now, let me go to the other radar that's a little bit maybe closer. I mean about the same because again normally we use Tassie here. Looks like we're starting to get another spin and that last I mean the dominant spin's gone now but it looks like we're starting that last scan here right between Hardway and Greta seeing a little bit of green and red start to reevolve here. So again just got to be mindful of that here in case you know things start to uh you know spin back up on us. I know around Banebridge there right now it's not necessarily raining raining right in town. back things up.
You can see how earlier on it was and then we had, you know, some of that clearing, but more rain and storm action coming in from the south and yeah, we will be watching, you know, some of that. This is a little bit of wind enhancement there around Jameson, but I would call this rotation here, you know, between Horoway and Grant. I know we saw some wind enhancement to rotation last night in Elatchwood County. We were live with that. I thought it's the morning north central Florida. There was some damage around there, not necessarily from tornatic activity from what I've seen here, but we had some wind damage.
Let me look at some of those reports here. Uh, as we're looking as we're tracking, uh, we're just going to, you know, I haven't been in the weather center too much this morning. You know, I was out at the Veterans Park here in Stark for the Memorial Day ceremony. Uh, first one there at the new Veterans Park. So going out there and you know and and remembering those you know who lost their life there you know in the line of duty in terms of you know making that ultimate sacrifice here for our country in the military. So again uh just uh continuing to give you guys the very latest there. I know they had a road closure due to a tree down last night around Archer Road and 91st Street there intoward the Gainesville area and and looks like there was a water spout and moved on to the tornado there into Hillsboro County last night. So again, uh we've had a little bit of spin around and it started to unfortunately, you know, so up here a little bit with some uh things, you know, water spout potential probably a little more likely as we're looking at things. So, I just trying to give you guys the uh uh very latest here on the overall scenario as we're looking as we're tracking. So, again, just trying to uh update you guys here.
And uh I'm going to go ahead and zoom back out a little bit. Again, tornado warning no longer in effect, but we will watch to see if we get some more of this potential. You know, as we look up toward the Bainbridge area there, uh, we're just going to keep on watching things. You can see how I loop this.
This is headed up toward Bambridge. It didn't look really impressive, but you know, this is where we had a little bit more concern. There's quite a bit of rain in here. Let's see how much preip is fallen there in the last hour.
You can see here over two inches in some of these purple areas there as we're looking as we're tracking.
Now, let me go ahead and uh zoom back out a little bit again. You see, let me look at our messo overlay because you have a little bit of spin going on here and that's kind of, you know, we're seeing some things going on with the atmospheric setup, you know. So, they'll be watching out there off of, you know, the western Florida panhandle there. Not our area, but if you're like vacationing out there or something from our area, you know, you know, you just really want to be very mindful. you know, Gulf Shores and getting on in here, Orange Beach, Gulf Breeze, and some of these different areas, Fort Walden Beach, Destramor Beach, Seagrove Beach. I mean, just all these areas. If you're vacationing from our area, you know, there's a chance there might be a water spout even that evolves there later today. It would be something that's probably more localized to the coast, but we'll just have to wait and see here. Obviously, of course, we had this over land pretty far in. We have more heating to the east here. Let me go to some other modes here as we're looking as we're monitoring things here.
You can see how we had that clearing and we had that kind of combination there right on that delineation. We're just a little bit warmer to the east, a little bit cooler to the west and then you had some spin and that's why we had a tornado warning going to play there for a little bit again this afternoon for part of Gats indicator. just some different things because I'll back it up where you'll see that red box here and actually let me make sure we have this set up right because not sure why that red box there. I guess this is behind the visible so far behind it and it didn't even include the time where we had a red box but this about from 12:40 or so. But the point is uh you can kind of see here how we had some of these clear spots and it warmed up there. So more energy to you know go along with that spin here. So, we'll have to watch, make sure we don't get, it's not impossible, we'll get another, you know, couple tornado warnings in or, you know, more so probably more likely severe thunderstorm warnings here as we go throughout the rest of the afternoon here as we watch. So, let me take off Lightning Tracker. I'll keep the warnings up just in case something pops back up here. But, you know, we'll be watching our coast areas in the Gulf, too.
You know, those uh areas there. I mean, as we're looking, you know, some folks may be fishing out there at Cedar Key or you're not people don't really go to the beach there necessarily, but you know, on the Gulf Coast, you know, toward our covered area, unless you're like maybe maybe Wakulla County, you know, down there, but you're going more for fishing than for sand because there's not really a lot of sand in some of these areas.
But as we go ahead and look here and as we track again, uh we're just going to go ahead and uh look here at the model at 2:00. Uh you can kind of see what we're dealing with here. And then 3:00, you see how that wave of action is going more into Georgia. And then it says some development to the east, but that's like, you know, this is 6:00 p.m. there as we're kind of looking at the timeline. 700 p.m. 8:00 p.m. 900 pm. I know coming up pretty soon, we'll have a way to actually see the time, you know, the model on the screen here. Uh, you know, like it is on TV, you know, as we look ahead with some of our upgrades, you actually see the time here on, you know, the screen when I'm showing all this. And this is kind of interesting out here. I'm going back this up. I'm curious to see what this shows. It looks like, you know, something could be kind of interesting there. Maybe let's see.
This is central time. It's west of our area, but you know, that's like 8:00 Eastern, 7 o'clock central. Maybe they'll have some type of wind enhancement out there. Western Florida, panhandle again getting those vacation.
I mean, some folks, you know, maybe spending the week or some folks headed back because tomorrow may be a work day here as you're looking toward the east.
That's something to bear in mind. And as you watch here, as you track again, you see some stuff even in Swany County, Eckles County there. This is all the way out to like 11:00 p.m. And we got some pretty late rains here. He used to start two days, two nights in a row. So, we'll see if that repeats itself. We need the rain very badly. It's going to be a pretty wet pattern. And we got to stay on guard here in case weird stuff like what we just had happen kind of spins up on us. So again, that's why we were live. We've been doing this since 2019 here with coverage. We're taking a big step here soon with big enhancements on the way. Uh but we we've been here for all the tornado warnings no matter what here. I know it's tough. Not easiest thing to do here when you kind of have one to pop up. We didn't even have a severe thunderstorm warning. I'm trying my best here. One day I might miss one, but we're we're trying we're trying our best here in terms of, you know, what I do here at Cloud Weather to try to give you guys the very latest. So again, uh we're looking at the overall scenario, the instability values there.
Again, over 3,000 jewels per kilogram.
So, you know, on a summertime day, you can get that even higher. You can get purples on here. We had some of that here recently. And maybe, you know, as we look ahead, we'll get some of these numbers to going up. But you have west to the west, but then you get enough of that wind energy just to, you know, because the thing is, you know, in the winter time we have high shear and low cape. But today we have high cape and we have a little bit of wind shear just a little tiny bit. And that's causing, you know, to mix in here to cause that potential there, you know, as we're looking even though the threats, you know, supposed to be a little bit more so focused toward the west. Let me I want to get a map here up here of the SBC outlook. Give me just a moment here cuz I know some of you guys may be vacasing and out there to the west, you know, from our area and the like. Uh so let me go ahead and just kind of emphasize this here what I'm kind of going over.
Go ahead and show you this here. So, you see, we had a we didn't have a marginal risk here earlier on for our area. This got issued, I mean, at about 12:16 p.m.
We got put under a marginal risk here, and we had a tornado warning within, you know, about half an hour of that without a formal tornado risk, but further west, there is a formal tornado risk there.
You have some of these areas here with that 2% tornado risk. So again, something that's not a big risk at all, but you know, just got to watch a little bit of that wind, you know, parameter type of setting up here mixing with some energy. Could have some water spouts.
Could even have some tornadoes there overland. I mean, you're at the beach.
You're, you know, maybe you're around a Gulf Sword or Destin or somewhere. Maybe you have a water spout, but you know, this could go inland here. Could have some weaker tornatic activity and that still, you know, mobile homes, cars, people out and about for the weekend could have some issues here. You know, just got to be mindful. I'm going to scroll down here as we're on here, you know, with you fluidly, you know, in this fluid scenario. It's a weak MCV.
Uh, you know, as we're looking there, associated upper trough, they're moving inland over the central Gulf Coast states today. And we have modest flow enhancement and minor lowle photograph curvature, which may aid occasional strong to gusty winds and perhaps a brief tornado of convex spreading northward this afternoon. But poor lapse rate to loft noted on the 12Z you know information there whether it's from New Orleans or Jackson or Birmingham or Peach Tree City those soundings there on the likely temporary development a more robust instability and should limit the overall severe risk. So again uh that's kind of the story line there. You know it's a low low risk but it's a holiday.
We just got to stay on guard here. We don't want anything tragic to happen when way more people than normal are out and about. And now, you know, this is a a tricky comparison to make uh because it's nothing like this really. This is a very low risk, but you know, we had so many people out and about July 4th last year in Texas where we had that flooding tragedy. Again, not expecting anything like that around here today. But obviously certain, you know, people in terms of the geography in different places here for a holiday, you know, it could impact, you know, you know, the human element. Obviously, you know, the weather could in a different way than it would on an ordinary day. So we have to just be mindful here that you know got to be a little more of a focused here now that we have a formal risk as severe weather is a marginal we had some of that yesterday but now we've had actually a little bit of spin and obviously a tornado you know more concerning you know more noteworthy obviously than a severe thunderstorm situation in most cases here you know still got to remember whenever thunder roars go indoors but let's just kind of remind you guys the scale if we get anything to actually have confirmation from today probably z1 but still you We just got to be mindful of these type of situations here. We just got to be uh giving you guys the latest here when things do arise in terms of that meteorological danger. Again, the tornado warning was canceled. If you're just tuning in, Gats indicator no longer under that warning, but we had that spin come up on us here. We don't always have to be prepared here as we're looking as we're tracking things in terms of the overall meteorology. Again, you know, when there's a tornado warning in play, you do want to see such a sturdy building. Get as many walls between you and the outside as possible and protect yourself from flying debris by putting on a bicycle helmet, a football helmet, baseball helmet. Again, you know, it's a situation here where uh you know, probably not going to get a tornado watch today, but just have to be cognizant here of some of this potential in case we get more of these quick, you know, tornado warnings here to evolve.
Rotation tracker not showing a lot earlier on. We had that spin around the I 10 corridor as we were looking as we were tracking here.
uh you know, we're just going to go ahead and uh show here the latest on this in terms of some of the velocity mode. Again, this looks weaker and more broad right now. There's not even a special weather statement that I can see on this map right now, which is great news. But, you know, if things still, you know, uh kind of come back together here as we look ahead in the timeline, you know, we got another tornado warning, we'll be here for you for 38 counties. that commitment to you guys no matter what to be on the air to keep you guys safe and informed here Memorial Day afternoon. Again, no formal warnings anymore, which is great news. Uh but we still have to be watching I know around the Banebridge area. Let me look again here on the Doppler because you know you have some of this action coming in from the south. Uh not a whole bunch, you know, but maybe maybe gust to 40 I would say, you know, possible with some of this coming toward Bainbridge next little bit. But, you know, we got a gust of 32 in Tallahassee.
uh they're at about 107. So yeah, gust of 40, you know, definitely a possibility with this here. But again, the tornado warning no longer in play and we have folks like Topcow Watson as well, you know, you know, some of the different names there on like the YouTube platform. Again, I appreciate everybody tuning in. Appreciate everybody trusting me. But with no longer, you know, uh not having, you know, we don't have any tornado warning didn't play with us no longer having any in play. We're going to wrap things up.
I know. Uh but if we need to come back on the air, we will here. You know, we do it first severe warnings, but tornado warnings, which you know, we haven't had that many of here lately, you know, those are a big priority. And if we get more of those through the day, we'll be on the air for you, you know, as quick as we can get here in, you know, to that live mode here with everything. You just hitting the buttons and then popping in, you know, getting that mic going, things like that. Again, it's very important here. Again, it's full tornado watch, but we had a tornado warning there for Gaston Dec, but it's circulation weekend. The tornado warning has been cancelled and I think we're okay to just wrap things up for now. But if we need to come back with more coverage, we will again just thanks for trusting me. You can watch like on YouTube. Make sure you hit that subscribe button there on the YouTube platform at Cloud Weather. You have uh you have Twitter there at Cloud Casey. You have Facebook Casey Clay Reacts. Facebook Cloud Weather. Some of the different places to get that coverage there. uh you know it's just so important you know that you know something like this kind of pops up you have those notifications enabled like on YouTube even uh you know after you like hit that subscribe button you're able to know when I go live so that you know there's a potential danger here within our 30 county area of North Florida and South Georgia. So again, that's going to wrap it for now, but please stay safe this rest of Memorial Day, whether it's lightning, something like this, you know, which pops up a lowend tornado threat, you know, that wind damage threat, you know, rip currents to the base, the UV factor. You don't want to get that sunburn in spots that's not getting the rain. You got to watch out for the spots on the roads. But otherwise, I know I make it sound, you know, a little bit daing, but you know, most of you guys should be doing all right here on this Memorial Day. just try to enjoy things and uh try to, you know, make the most of this holiday here. This May 25th, 2026. Again, uh we'll be back here as needed. But for now, just try to stay safe.
Okay, wait a minute. We're going to stick with you for just a second because uh I almost said the button. We just had a flash flood warning issued. I noticed we had uh quite a bit of rain here.
quite a bit of rain setting on up here as we're looking as we're tracking. So, we're not we're not going to wrap it quite yet then. I'm happy I didn't hit that button. We just got a flash flood warning issue. I see one of our viewers talking about that as well. So, let me see what this is about here. It looks like it just included a little bit of our area here uh as we're tracking as we're monitoring.
Uh let me go and put the precautions up then. So, we have a flash flood warning now for parts of Gadston, western Gadston, and northeastern Liberty until about 4:30. We don't cover Liberty anymore, but we cover Gadston as we just were on with that tornado warning. So, at 1:20 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area there. Flash floods either ongoing or expected to begin shortly. So we have Greensboro, Chattahuchi, Greta, Juno, Sycamore, Hardaway, Rosedale, Sardust, Roy, Harden Heights, Rock Bluff, Mount Pleasant, River Junction, and Douglas City. So again, now we have flash flood warning, a potential, you know, around this I 10 corridor, a little bit of, you know, that water rise here coming on up, you know, in terms of some of that on the road, people traveling on this holiday.
And now, you know, as we're getting in there from Greensboro, you know, some of this on the road, you got to be careful about, you got to be very mindful. Let me go ahead and I'm going to get you guys a graphic up explaining about flash flood warnings here in a second. Uh, as we're looking, we'll also pull up some traffic cameras toward I 10. Then, uh, see how things are looking on the road to see if, you know, something maybe is starting to get a little bit a little bit trickier here with this commute on that day. be head at home from a long weekend. You know, as we're looking at things and as we're tracking things. So, let me go ahead and uh see what we're dealing with here in terms of that meteorology again, a flash flood warning. And I'm going to get our flood alerts graphic up here. I have the difference between a flash flood warning, a flood warning there.
Let me get this up here in our system because I think this helps, you know, tell a story pretty good.
So, we're going to go ahead and switch over to the graphics mode here.
Uh flash flood warning means a rapidly worsening flooding scenario is possible.
Not necessarily likely, but it's at least possible. Again, you know, something where we could get, you know, multiple inches here. I mean some spots already have but you know more spots get multiple inches but shouldn't be you know something that turns into like a flood emergency maybe we do get a considerable you know since things are trending like they are so much I would not completely rule that out uh you know in terms of that going off on the phones but you know flash foot warnings more than just a flood warning that means a higher potential to quickly bring danger to people and property through rapid water rise so you know we just have to be very mindful again uh sometimes you know as a situ situation in here where you really do have that more urgent concern, but if nothing else, it's more urgent than a regular aerial type flood warning. This does set off those weather radios here.
So again, uh we just have to be very mindful of the situation. Again, we do have a flash flood warning now in play for parts of the covered area. Uh we're just continuing to give you guys the very latest. Let's get back over to the map here and we'll try to go into some more details on this. Uh we'll try to pull up those 1 hour rainfall amounts again. Greensboro to Hardway are seeing about two and a half inches there in the last little bit in the last 60 minutes.
So again, something to be very mindful of as we're looking at things as we're tracking them. And uh let's get the storm total here. And this goes a little bit further back, but some of these areas getting over half a foot here. And I need to see that time stamp. Let me I'm going to go back to our is a radar scope product. It tells me when you know this time frame from that radar the Fort Nova Fort Rucker radar the KO X radar you know the time frame on that Southeast Alabama viewpoint again. U so it's I'm just going to see the timeline on this. This goes back since yesterday morning on some of what I'm looking at behind the scenes. And it says since yesterday morning at least is getting upward of 9 in now intoward part of Gats and south of Greensboro there as we zoom in a little bit. So that's you know starting to really add up now here in towards some of those western areas here of our 38 counties. So I promised you guys we're going to try to get some traffic camera views in here. So let's effort some of those. Give me just a moment. Again uh just continuing to give you guys the latest details here.
We'll try to pull up a viewpoint in that area. Looks like a lot of those are not live. They're just still images, but we do have one here, mile marker 173. So, let's go ahead and show you that here momentarily. We'll pull that in here to the system, and you'll be able to see what we're talking about. Again, you can see here, you can see the uh wetness there obviously on the camera lens with all those raindrops.
again, uh, folks having to take it easy here, you know, want to enjoy things, you know, after maybe went to remembrance ceremony this morning or something like that. Now, you do want to, you know, it's the unofficial start of summer and instead instead of soaking up that sun, you're in rain here on the interstate here. It's an unfortunate set of circumstances. You know, you're caught in these elements here and uh, it's a scenario where maybe you wanted to eat, you know, lunch, maybe you still get off. You just have to use that umbrella though, something like that. So again, I do have a flash flood warning now in play for parts of Gatsson County and our covered area. So again, I just trying to give you guys the very latest here on the situation. I know.
Let me pull up our other mode here.
Again, we're just looking back at the Doppler.
Now, if you're around Stark, you're probably wondering like, you know, how is, you know, the weather around here.
So let me get to a broad view of the situation. There is a meascale discussion now as well. Uh we're going to go ahead and show you that at a 5% chance there of the uh you know SBC issuing something in terms of a watch uh scattered and numerous thunderstorms this afternoon may you know just pose that sporadic risk for strong wind gusts. little on the way of storm organizations expected though and as of 115 I'm just reading some of this verbatim visible and radar imagery show a broad area thunderstorms on going over the central Gulf Coast I'm going move this over a little bit more uh you know the central Gulf Coast states associated with a remnant MCV widespread anvil debris remains apparent and should limit destabilization over much of Mississippi western Alabama and the western Florida panhandle and to the east of the MCV and clouds strong dal heating is rapidly destabilizing ing there in the air mass across eastern Alabama, northern Florida, much of Georgia. We're showing you some of that with the instability values in South Carolina there as well. I'll see you some of these higher red, you know, you know, type of colors here in terms of the color table. Uh, we're talking about despite the poor midle lapse rate 70 surface due points there. 70° surface due points are supporting about 2,000 jewels per kilogram there a mixed layer of cape and sufficient for periodic stronger updrafts scattered to numerous thunderstorms expected this afternoon and evening as convective temperatures in the mid to upper 80s are breached and why some low and mid-level flow enhancement is occurring closer to the MCV again I'm reading this verbatim from the storm prediction center here you know but as we're looking at you know some of that mid you know lowle flow enhancement occurring closer to the MCV uh farther west little in the way of vertical series is present over much of the southeast and this suggests storm organization will be quite limited with a predominant pulse/ multi-ell storm mode and high precipitable water value content there greater than 2 in may support a few stronger downdrafts capable of producing sporadic damage and gust we need to rain so bad because of the drought so we're taking this you know this rain is just doesn't necessarily go good with some outdoor plans but we do need this rain we don't want the severe weather though we don't want flash flooding obviously as we're looking and as we're tracking and things here with the overall situation. And so again, we got some storm coverage. You know, the you know topic here and discussing says that this increase this afternoon along the eastern edge of the remnant cloud shield and differential heating zone in Alabama and Georgia and association with seabbze convection in northern Florida and then a few stronger clusters may evolve as outflows consolidate. However, the lack of broader, you know, or actually, excuse me, border upper air support should limit a sustained uh severe threat in a watch does appear unlikely. So, just a 5% chance of a watch, you know, for convective activity, severe thunderstorm, some more tornado watches.
We have that tornado warning, you know, I'll throw that, you know, into discussion here, but we do have a flash flood warning. Now, last hour, some of these purple center over 2 in that's right there near Greensboro. And in the last 12 hours, you know, it's not swinging as much, you know, in terms of the calculation goes to 1:00. But then I was looking at the other mode. We had 8 in going back into yesterday. So it's really, you know, more on top what we had yesterday. Starting to really like make things a little bit more vulnerable there as we're looking. And as we're tracking with the overall scenario in terms of, you know, the water not really being able to go down. Now again, uh you can see a little over 2 in as we're looking at the overall situation. Uh we're just trying to give you guys the very latest here and we I was about to wrap it up again here and I'm starting to see some green and red. We you know the old saying is and now not quite to that level yet since we don't have a tornado warning but the old saying was green and red get under the bed here. Uh you know if you had those come together but we're almost there. It's not quite there. There were further away on the radar, but we're getting a little bit of that wind enhancement there just north of I 10 there around State Road 12.
Let's see if we can pull up a camera just east of Greensboro there on the Florida 511 perspective.
Bear with me here.
Okay, so we do have one just east of Greensboro that's working. I think that's the one we sewed. Let me see if we can get one. Yeah, showing just more of the road. Okay, this one might be able to help us. Well, at least look in the distance here at some of this rain.
I hate to wrap cupboard, you know, it's a flash flood warning. We just wouldn't really stay on for that continuous for a while, you know, because it's few hour warning, but if we get, you know, a tornado warning, we don't want to jump away and have to jump right back and, you know, within a few minutes things can happen with that that can be very, you know, significant. So, again, here's a Florida 51 view as we're looking and as we're tracking things here this afternoon. Again, I know we're just continuing to give you guys the very latest here on things in terms of that overall meteorology in terms of that overall meteorology.
You can see some of that visibility there in the distance there. Some of those darker skies on this Memorial Day Monday here. People maybe, you know, making those travel plans to head home and they're getting caught up in some of the storm ax. So, you know, we have the interactive veteranclutter.com when we're not on, but we do have, you know, live coverage right now here as we're watching the situation.
Again, let's go ahead and we'll move away from this view here right now, though. And again, we don't have and let me just double check here. I don't see it on this mode. We're still making upgrades. I don't have all my monitor I normally have here to double check all the information when I'm like talking. I have to go back to this one, you know, here and and just make sure we don't get a red box on us real quick or something.
It's sitting as tight as what we had earlier. But it's starting to be a little interesting there between Gratina and Quincy.
Again, uh we're just trying to look.
This doesn't look that, you know, significant on the Eggland radar, but there's a little bit of something. We'll check the uh Basta radar here as well.
That's a little too far away. So again, continuing to give you guys the very latest here.
Continuing to keep you guys informed.
Let's go ahead and go over the shear rate product.
So again, no for more tornado warnings right now. We did have one earlier on.
That's why we jumped in here. You know, we had a tornado warning, believe it or not. Popping on up. This is what caused this spin. You know, the Telacerator is down, so we're having to look a little higher up, you know, in some of these frames. Hopefully, nothing touched down, but you see we had some rotation from Greensburg to Hardway.
Currently, these numbers don't look as high on the scale. Pretty low, but again, we're pretty far away. Let me check power added numbers there. Gat County mainly is what I'm curious about.
Going to check the powered us number we have. So, zero out, but they're not they're only tracking 13 customers there. So, you not really sure then. And then Leon has 68 out. College baseball coming up this weekend. Might be pretty wet for some of those games.
Gainesville, Tallahassee, as we're looking a little more on that, you know, during the week. But four customers out in Decar County in terms of powerages right now according to powered us. But again, uh let's see what we have in terms of new comments. Uh yeah, we don't currently have any tornado warnings. We did have one here, you know, had a viewer asking about that, but yeah, no longer a tornado warning effect. We had one earlier on. We had one earlier on and that's why we had to jump in here as quick as we could on this tomorrow day to keep you guys safe and informed again. Uh let's just go ahead and kind of loop this around here. You can see we had the red earlier. You know, the tornado warning that went away. Now there's a green. I mean, you know, it's something where you can kind of get the idea if you really no radar. You can see why maybe we had that spin develop here.
Just it's almost like a tropical setup.
Uh, but it's something, you know, if you didn't really, if you weren't really kind of, you know, knowing what to look for, you'd be thinking like maybe, you know, well, was it really a tornado warning or am I just making things up?
No, we actually did have a torn I mean, there was rotation. I'm just saying the chance was not that high today. But we really did have we we never do that, by the way. We're not We don't issue your We do not do not do not issue tornado warnings here at Cloud Weather. Never ever doing anything like that. But my point is, you know, we actually did have a tornado warning. That's why we're on the air. So again, uh we're just trying to give you guys uh the very latest here on this uh in terms of the overall situation in terms of the overall meteorology. The weather service issues these we had to spin there. It was justif in Tallahassee there. They're on, you know, the top, you know, they're in the top of the love building on the FSE campus, the old meteorology building there. and they issued that there at about 12:46 PM with that latest information there. One of the longtime meteorologists here seeing that in fact as I'm looking at the statements. So again, you know, that was for rotation near Greensboro. It's been a busy afternoon around Greensboro. Now that flash flood warning on play until about you know Greensboro here in Florida until about 4:30 at 1:20 Doppler indicated thunderstorm producing heavy rain across the warned area and flash flooding either ongoing are expected to begin shortly. Greensboro, Terahooti, Gretna, Juniper, Sycamore, Hardaway, Rosedale, Sardust, Roy, Harden Heights, Rock Bluff, Mount Pleasant, River Junction and Douglas City. So again, uh flash flooding caused by thunderstorms here again northeastern Liberty just outside of our area now, but western Gatson's in our area. So a rapid water wise possible in a few spots. You not everybody's going to have that. But the old saying is and especially on a holiday like this, you just got to remember, you know, that you know when you encounter those flooded road, you got to turn around. The mantra is don't drown because you know the six ines of flowing water can knock you down. Most flood deaths do occur in vehicles. I know. Uh we're gonna go way back here, but you know uh let me just double check what storm it was. It's so far back. Uh I need to double check here. Yeah, it was Allison. I wanted to double check this. I haven't talked about this in a long time. We had a you know situation with a flood fatality toward the FSE campus about 25 years ago or so during Allison, you know, tropical system here.
So, uh just kind of coming to mind. And I remember reading about that and when I started at FSU was can't believe it's been almost 14 years since I started there. Uh you know but you know reading about how we had that fatality there around the FSU campus there from Allison and the flooding. So you you know the remnants of that. So you just got to be very mindful here you know of these flood situations. Things can take that ugly turn here even in our covered area as we're looking and as we're tracking.
So when I say Allison I mean tropical storm Allison by the way. You know, we've had so many storms used to. I mean, 10 years ago, everybody kind of knew what Allison was. All of a sudden, I feel like now some people aren't going to know what I'm talking about here when I say Allison. That was, you know, a really big storm that impacted Houston, but we did have some of the impacts in those western areas, too. I wasn't paying attention to weather. Didn't remember that back then. But my point is, you know, hearing about it after the fact, you know, it's kind of how we had it was, you know, the uh lesser version of Harvey really in terms of the flooding out west there. Still a very big deal. The name was retired. very unusual for tropical storm. It was, you know, kind of similar to what we had in 94 in southwest Georgia for Alberto, you know, with that flash flooding situation. That was a, you know, situation there. My late grandmother there, maternal grandmother, she had to go around like 50 miles out of the way around Albany there, uh, because of the, uh, flooding. It was just so rampant there, you know, but Alberto back in 1994, you know, just extensive flooding there as we were looking around the, you know, early part of July there about a month before I was born as we're looking up that way. In fact, we don't cover that area anymore, but while we're on the topic and, you know, this graphic I have in here, I haven't, you know, been using it, you know, as much lately and probably won't be using it as much here as we're, you know, enhancing our area as we've talked about. But let me just go ahead and say this to you guys here while we're on because as we're talking about, you know, this in a tropical system, but it's that time of year kind of with some tropical moisture here and it's reminiscent, you know, uh, you know, in terms of we're talking about Allison, Walberto kind of reminiscing.
It didn't get retired. It probably should have been retired. We had so many fatalities from that the tropical storm.
This is what I This is just, you know, you know, most of this is not opinion in meteorology, but this is pretty much opinion here. Just based on my judgment, based on all the different facts, the worst tropical cyclone by each county here in our area since 1950. I mean, you know, a lot of these are most of these are hurricanes except for Alberto.
Alberto, Alberto, however you want to pronounce that there. I know as you, you know, we have a big pronunciation guide we have to go through for this. And I got to look at all that for this. Your author would be our first name by the way, you know, in the basin as we look ahead. But nine counties in our area, the old area, uh, Alberto was the worst.
You know, now in our new area, none, you know, as as we've been handstained in terms of the geography, but you know, like in Decar County and Gatson County, Michael, you know, we still have Leyon.
Leon County got so lucky back with Helen. It was could have been a catastrophic blow there and it went just a little bit east there in 2024. So Kaden 85 still the worst one, you know, since 1950. I know it's a situation here as we're looking at that that wind event tornado event in 2024 before Helen the worst since 85 but lean would have been worse than all of it if it went a little west but instead was a catastrophic really for so much of our area there you know as we're looking now here in Bradford County Irma was probably the worst since I've been here Francis Jean right up there Helen was pretty bad but probably Francis and Jean you know in ' 04 but Irma was the worst so I've been here since 01 or 2000 Don't want in this place where I'm at this home but 2000 in the county and the worst here in Bradford since I've been here was Irma in 17 just the one we lost power from for about a day uh Francis Gene three or four hours and in the 04 season otherwise just flickering on and off here helen and some of the others but yeah Doris still that point of reference storm the late George Winterland he gave everybody a heads up about that here back in 1964 but he was looking at the pressure patterns he had been in the military you know and then he you know doing meteorology. Then he was at FSU there, graduated from there and and he was able to look at the patterns and gave the heads up that it was coming toward our area instead of other parts of the southeast here. And you know, it's a direct blow. The only hurricane to hit on the Atlantic coast in the uh 20, you know, 20th century here or the 21st century into northeast Florida directly. The only one to come in there into northeast Florida direct in the 1900s or the you know 2000s here was Dora back in ' 64. So, even though this year is supposed to be below average, you know, if we get a certain pattern to set up, you know, maybe, you know, high pressure to the north or something, there's a lot of different elements that go into play and things turn this to the west. I know it's more likely to get something from south to north. But if you get something from east to west there, we just got to be very vigilant here like what you know, we had happened with Dora back in 1964.
My mom here, she remembers that. She remembers watching George uh you know, back way back in ' 64 there. And then they went down to the old Hampton Elementary School to take refuge from that. So, you know, she was only, you know, about 10 years old or so. So, again, uh just, you know, that was the worst storm here that we've had going back, you know, since 1950 here where I'm at in Bradford County where, you know, we've gotten lucky. I mean, I was probably, you know, highend tropical storm to low in cat one impact. You know, Helen, some of these others pretty similar for Bradford County. Really haven't had a direct hurricane impact in Bradford. probably since Dor was one back in ' 64 when it was coming across here. So, you know, even though you've heard about Helen and here in Bradford County really haven't had anything, you know, you know, that's just been a real really, you know, overwhelming situation here in terms of, you know, you call it the reasonable worst case scenario. Uh, you know, we haven't had anything like that's in store, but you can actually get quite a bit worse than Dora. Dora was, you know, borderline two three when it hit. So, you know, Michael of course was a five off toward the west. Helen was a four. Adalia there. It was, you know, around that three mark there was coming on in. It would have been the point of reference storm if it wasn't for what happened there back, you know, back there earlier on in the timeline.
Uh, you know, uh, or excuse me, Adalia would have been that reference point earlier on for a year, but later on we had Helen one up, but unfortunately as we're looking as we're tracking. So again, we don't cover all these counties anymore. Just a graphic I came up with last year. want to use it just a little bit more here, you know, since I think it was kind of where we were going with the conversation. It made sense here in terms of referencing some things. So again, I just wanted to kind of touch on all that. We still have this flash flood warning though in effect right now until 4:30. The tornado warning was cancelled, which is great news here obviously as we're looking as we're tracking, but the flash flood warning still continues. Uh we're just going to keep on watching everything here with this that continues till 4:30 p.m. Uh let me go ahead and just to see what we have here in terms of the very latest here.
We're going to go ahead and let me just remind you guys in case we get another tornado warning. We'll go ahead and throw up some of those tornado safety tips here. Let me go ahead. I'll pull that up here momentarily. But I just want to remind you guys here of what we're talking about, what we're tracking, what we're monitoring with everything, you know, just in case we get something to evolve.
I'm not seeing a whole bunch of rotation on radar right now. So, I'll probably let this go here soon. I need to make sure they don't upgrade this to considerable on us here.
you know, in terms of the flood potential, but two inches last hour right there between Hardway and Greensboro on I 10.
You know, base one, if we get a considerable upgrade, I'll cut back in here, of course, for a flash flood situation. You know, of course, we get a tornado warning, sever thunderstorm warning, we'll be giving you guys the latest here as warranted here as well. I know uh what we'll do here, we'll have one more check on the radar here in 60 seconds. uh just make sure nothing else is happening. But we're going to take a quick break here and I'll just double check to make sure that we're good to wrap things up for the time being as we do watch the flash flood situation, but it's something, you know, it's not a major metric. I don't want to stick wall to wall with that here as I'm giving you the information you need on that. But we'll just go ahead real quick and run, you know, a quick break here and I'll be right back. In the last half decade or so, our area and the region have been through a lot. Stay safe. But it's going to be memorable. I was there around 400 p.m. to document them lifethreatening situation here. So again, that's the story line there. Oh, I think we just had another power blast. Another power blast. Sometimes Bradford County is a tough spot to see a spin- up tornado. So we just want you to go ahead and be inside and away from windows. Can't even completely run a quick spin-up tornado.
So things have started to escalate here.
Please take Selter. This is going to cause a lot of damage. Radar confirmed tornado in southeastern Georgia. We're seeing areas there around Perry bear the brunt of this coming into these communities and ravaging them. That's why we got to get you guys out. You got to run from that water. You got to evacuate. You got to follow these orders. This is a serious of a situation I've seen. This is the eyewall. This is where some of the worst the weather is.
When hazardous weather threatens, trust clouds weather.
Back here again, the flash flood warning continues until 4:30 for parts of Gadston County. Let's go to the other mode. A broader perspective as we watch the radar. Things around Stark here.
Look pretty good. A little bit of rain out there western part of the county near New River. You see a little bit there at award the rest area as well near the Keystone airport at Nani. They may drop their temperature just a little bit there.
As we go ahead and look, let me go ahead and take this one off.
We're going to take off Lightning Tracker. But I want to look here and I haven't had a chance to go through all the baseball times but I believe FC is playing at three scheduled to play at three on Friday against uh you know the St. John's squad there coming in you have I was watching that selection so and then you know had to get on here and things like that but I believe it's St. John's Coastal Carolina and then Northern Illinois is playing the other side. So again, it's a situation here that we're just trying to give you guys the very latest on uh in the weather center. So let me let me go ahead and we're going to throw up the GFS here.
Going to throw up the GFS modeling and today is the 25th. So the 27th is Wednesday. And let's just get all the way out here. You know, the 29th is Friday. And you see in the afternoon we have some convection. So, it's going to be something we're watching on the radar, you know, in the 30th as well, maybe even worse on that Saturday for the games where if Florida, if they win the bigger games in the regional round every Saturday in the baseball in terms of the higher seated teams playing each other, the ones versus twos in the brackets. I know Miami is coming to Gainesville there when I was looking as well. So, be kind of interested just to see how things set up with the weather.
Looks kind of active. I mean, there may even be some type of low pressure to the south here. Maybe something tropical.
We'll see. You know, we'll watch. We'll monitor that. You know, let me see if there's anything from the hurricane center regarding that because, you know, I've been pretty busy, you know, up until coming on here today. I haven't had a chance to look at that. Next seven days, they're still saying no development chances. So, that's good news. That's what we want to hear. So, probably not anything tropical, but some of the model guidance is trying to spin things up. So, we'll watch. You see flash flooding off toward Mississippi there. And got to be watching out in the western Florida panhandle. Might be a interesting afternoon if you're vacationing out there with some stuff going on, you know, in terms of some of that. Could be some flash flooding even.
Let's see where that'll set up. That's like, you know, Paradise Beach and Pensacola area, Gulf Breeze, maybe, you know, some trending convexing. Not, you know, exactly the best weather for that Memorial Day here. As we look as we track for some of you guys and north of our area, you know, into South Georgia, further past of our area there, see some heavy downpours. You see around Bambbridge there, again, there's some lightning. You're hearing some of those rumbles of thunder around there.
Whenever thunder, you want to go indoors, of course. And then rotation tracker not showing a whole bunch there.
We had it earlier though near I 10. Some of that rotation setting on up on the Doppler. So, it's always important to be mindful. We'll pop back in here as the conditions warrant. Uh, but we're going to go ahead and wrap things on up for now. Hope you guys enjoy. You know, I already tried to wrap once and we had the flash flood warning. I hope you guys enjoy the rest of that Memorial Day here. We'll pop back in here as those conditions warrant. But for now, just stay safe here. Stay informed. That tornado warning we had earlier on being dropped earlier into the timeline or early hour, you know, here in terms of this near the top of that 100 p.m. hour.
So, again, uh, right now though, we're seeing a flash flood warning. Now for parts of Gadston around the Greensboro community seeing some of that concern there in the western part of our Florida Big Ben zones. We're back here as needed. But for now, stay safe out there. Whenever thunder is going indoors, if you see water covering the road, you know, want to remember to turn around, don't drown. It's a mantra there. So, just be safe out there, but try to make the most of the rest of that holiday weekend.
