[00:00:00]Now, summer is really heating up this year, and I'm not mentioning about the ongoing weather, but with a major event set to kick off on the evening of May the 30th.

[00:00:10]>> I believe you're referring to the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, right? Because I actually attended last year, and it's hard to imagine a display that could top the scale and spectacle.

[00:00:22]>> And yet, the expectations are high again this year. And with the stage set and leading pyrotechnic teams from around the world ready to compete, Da Nang is preparing once more to light up the night sky and take the center stage.

[00:00:40]>> This year's event features a massive 40-m dome stage and advanced production technology. The multi-dimensional setup uses Sky AR and laser systems to transform the Han River skyline.

[00:00:59]>> This year's stage highlights five giant screens spanning 180 square meters with a 10-ton hydraulic system supporting the structure over the river.

[00:01:08]What makes it special is that the entire system and engineering team are fully Vietnamese.

[00:01:17]>> Hosting this international 2-month long festival with thousands of visitors demands cutting-edge technology that aligns with international standards.

[00:01:30]>> So, this is the program that it the shows are all designed in.

[00:01:33]>> Mhm.

[00:01:34]>> This is sort of like a worldwide standard now, this program, where they can overlay their fireworks with the music.

[00:01:51]>> [music] >> Download the the script into each controller and then we when we we synchronize the systems to the music with time code which comes from the stage.

[00:02:13]>> Opening night features a showdown between the pyrotechnic teams from Vietnam and China. Both teams are working around the clock to prepare pyrotechnics ensuring spectacular yet flawless and highly secure performances.

[00:04:28]>> DIFF is now a brand name. It's It's associated with Da Nang, you know, and uh it's it's It's an international level now. Every single country wants to be wants to take part every year. We have to reject so many. We only can select 10.

[00:04:49]>> Attracting around 1.5 million visitors each summer, the figures reflect the growth of the festival over the past 14 years and its growing role in Da Nang's tourism strategy.

[00:05:02]Building on this momentum, the city's has broadened its calendar of events to attract visitors year round.

[00:05:12]>> Beyond the fireworks festival, the city also hosts international sporting events, cultural programs, and major conferences. Together, these create year-round experiences that help position Da Nang as a vibrant events destination.

[00:05:33]>> As Da Nang International Fireworks Festival continues to grow, it is becoming part of a much larger story, one about how Da Nang hopes to strengthen its place among the world's leading events destination.

[00:05:50]>> And as Da Nang City ramps up efforts to attract visitors and world-class events, major festivals are helping to put the city on the global map. But beyond tourism, what opportunities do these events create for Da Nang City's long-term development? Our reporter of the spoke with Mr. Mario Mendez, chief delegate of EuroCham Central Vietnam, for his insights on the city's potential and its ambition to become a global events hub.

[00:06:24]>> So, in your opinion, how does events like the Da Nang International Fireworks Festivals elevate the city's profile in the eyes of global investors and visitors?

[00:06:35]>> Um as you know, international festivals bring such a great inbound tourism from around the world. Councils and cities put this together to drive tourism numbers, but also to drive investors, foreign appeal, and to showcase what the city has to offer. The Da Nang International Fire- Fireworks Festival has been going on for about nearly a decade now, and it's really well-established as one of the key festivals that happen in Central Vietnam and actually in the region. It has gained a lot of credibility because it has a lot of great international countries who compete against each other along the famous Han River there.

[00:07:09]>> What are the key factors that global investors, organizers are looking for in a global scale festivals, and do you think that Da Nang is moving towards that direction?

[00:07:21]>> As you can see, even just a couple of weeks ago, we had the Ironman edition, but it was the world edition. And the soon world pickleball championship is happening here in Da Nang. And for Da Nang to be hosting the world championships is another tick on the box of showcasing Da Nang as a destination where world-class sporting events can happen. The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival is a great example because it's spread out over 6 to 8 weeks. Where some festivals only happen 3 or 4 days of a weekend. Very smart planning by the Da Nang Tourism Department. Spread out over 6 to 8 weeks on different weekends creates a massive open summer season a longer summer season, which actually creates more opportunity of window for tourism to come in. Da Nang is definitely going to be a full year round destination now.

[00:08:07]>> What signals are events like this sending to global investors regarding Da Nang's infrastructure readiness and its potential to become a leading hub in Central Vietnam?

[00:08:18]>> Da Nang has come a long way in the past 10 years as we can see. So, it's moving away from being the old seaside getaway town to becoming a key luxury destination. We had recently the launch of the Vietnam International Financial Center in Da Nang. We have the brand new port along Chao Port happening. And so, it's really positioning itself as a world-class destination when it comes to infrastructure, investment, manufacture, IT with FPT City. Um with these policies opening up and especially with the uh Vietnam and EU free trade zone agreements, there is a lot of potential for more European countries to come this. About nearly about 20 to 30 companies in the past 2 to 3 years have been from EU have been setting up their operations here in Da Nang.
