This video offers a sharp analysis of how sensory regulation can paradoxically impair executive function, turning a mundane ritual into a temporal trap. It effectively bridges the gap between lived experience and the complex reality of neurodivergent time blindness.

Shower struggles with adhd and what many people don’t realize when it comes to them #adhdAdded:
Shower struggles with ADHD. This is the worst part with ADHD and why are showers the worst? Well, one, ADHD people, guess what? Water is very calming to us. It's a sensory overload with water, the warmth, it just [music] touching our skin is a sensory overload which gives us the best object permanence. People, I can take a shower and you will lose track of time.
>> [music] >> That is one of the biggest struggles when it comes to ADHD and taking a shower. Is guess what? Well, one, we don't really want to take a shower.
Takes us a lot of motivation to get in here. But once we get in the water, time literally stops. The water feels good.
It's overwhelming us. Our brain kind of goes quiet for a while.
And next thing you know, well, because of our bad time management skills, I think I can take a shower in the matter of I'll I'll be in and out 5 minutes.
And next thing you know, 20-30 minutes has went by because we literally got paralyzed inside of the water feeling it and it felt so good that it totally calmed us and relaxed us and it gave us a break from our brain for a minute. And again, this is something that I wish I would have known is that when it comes to ADHD, we have some of the weirdest shower struggles that there is. And I will say setting an alarm, making sure that my my shower, like, "Hey, I'm going to be in here for like 15 minutes and my alarm gets out." Helps a ton so that I am conscious I don't lose myself to it.
And again, it's something I wish I would have known. I got diagnosed ADD at 13, rediagnosed ADHD at 17. No one ever tells you about shower struggles until you learn later on in life that you're constantly late everywhere because once you finally get into the shower, you don't want to get out of the shower. And it is something that can make a difference when you at least realize, be prepared.
