[00:00:00]Hello, thanks for joining me for today's earwax removal procedure. Now, this procedure was um let's say part two. Uh that's a polite way of putting it because this gentleman was seen by someone else not that long ago.

[00:00:15]And he said, "I didn't feel like it made any difference at all." And he said he said he was told that they got loads out.

[00:00:22]Um I really question how much they actually did get out cuz this looks old.

[00:00:28]And it was only a matter of a short matter of months ago that he saw somebody else. So, I don't know what they actually did get out if anything cuz this looks like it's been there a while to me.

[00:00:39]And it wasn't our favorite optical high street chain before anybody asks.

[00:00:45]>> [laughter] [gasps] >> Uh it was a some independent uh practitioner. What level of qualification they got?

[00:00:51]Who knows? Could be any any Tom, Dick, and Harry these days. Seemingly is having a go at doing this. So, who knows? So, didn't get very far with the suction on this one. I'm Nurse Richard, the Wax Wizard, by the way. Thanks for joining me.

[00:01:05]Uh if you've not seen the video, that's who I am. Um Didn't get very far with the suction, so we went in with um the hook to start with.

[00:01:13]And then when I brought it a bit further forward, I thought I'd try the uh curette.

[00:01:20]Which worked to some degree. Did manage to pull some forward. Bit of a clearer image now cuz it I'm I'm a I'm a bit further away from it and angling it coming at it from a different angle.

[00:01:31]Uh so, that's why it's a little clearer.

[00:01:33]There's none of the hairs are are in the way there.

[00:01:36]Quite a narrow entrance as well. He's done well to fill it up.

[00:01:40]There's the first chunk. Now, the second again, I could have gone in with the hook or the curette there, but this as you can see, I'm glad I didn't cuz it's really stuck to the canal wall. Um before I consider entry and it's a bit deeper in the ear as well. So, before I consider entry with another tool, I really want to peel that away because the deeper you go into the ear, the more risky it is to use tools.

[00:02:06]So, um I think this is a little cuz it's in the bony portion now and if you if you and there's no gaps around the edge of this.

[00:02:13]So, you've just got to peel it away.

[00:02:16]Um before I uh completely forget to do subscriber of the day, let's do that now, shall we?

[00:02:50]And uh Why is that? It's because um I want to know, have you ever seen Lorraine? There she is.

[00:03:02]>> [gasps] >> Uh old music old musician's joke that whenever we play that song, we ask if there's any uh any Lorraines in the audience. We say, "We've been looking for you."

[00:03:12]>> [gasps] >> Uh so, you can see I'm trying to peel this and it's now stuck to the left on side of the ear canal. Just one ear in this procedure.

[00:03:20]Um Peeling away quite nicely.

[00:03:23]But I think it didn't really start moving really well until the whole thing's bit more mobile now. However, it didn't really start moving well until we put some olive oil in there.

[00:03:34]As a perfect timing, there we go.

[00:03:36]Fair amount of loose hairs in this as well. So, I do wonder whether he'd been prodding about in there. I can't remember if he said he had or not.

[00:03:45]But it starts moving a lot more freely now since we uh get the oil in.

[00:03:52]Cuz all the way back as well. So, yeah, I I really don't know how much this other let's call them a practitioner who's actually got out a few months ago.

[00:04:04]Not much. I would hazard a guess at.

[00:04:08]Right, [snorts] time for today's who not who am I >> [laughter] >> although I do wonder that sometimes.

[00:04:15]As you can see, I've started putting different backgrounds on. This image you can see here is one that I took cuz I have been here about three or four years ago.

[00:04:27]Um the next image you're going to see is it by magic is what the is an image of the same place that the tourist board took.

[00:04:36]Much better than mine.

[00:04:37]>> [laughter] >> Um Now, this is a difficult one.

[00:04:41]I'll give you a few clues, but try not to Google it. See if someone can figure it out from the clues alone. So, this place is famous in Europe.

[00:04:51]Uh this is the Atlantic Ocean you can see.

[00:04:55]And this place is famous for it was the home of Christopher Columbus for a while. I believe it's he was married to the governor's daughter. And I know that cuz I've been to his house done the tour around there. And this is where he was planning his expeditions to um to the Americas.

[00:05:14]Um And this this side I think this is the north side of the island.

[00:05:19]They have these natural uh salt water pools which where lots of locals go because on the other side of the island there's the what I think is the best beach in Europe by a long way. And it's quite famously known as that and it's beautiful. So, all the locals actually come to the other side of the island.

[00:05:37]They come here instead to escape the tourists. It's only a really really tiny island it's.

[00:05:42]And speaking of tiny tiny islands, the one you can see above me.

[00:05:47]Um when you We can't zoom in on this. It actually looks like King Kong. King Kong's head. Uh they do have a name for it. I can't remember what it is.

[00:05:57]Uh but we have I think it was discovered by accident.

[00:06:01]Um this island as most islands are, I think in the 1400s something like that.

[00:06:07]And I think the coast that's facing Africa, I think that's where they discovered it.

[00:06:14]And whenever there was any pirates coming or anyone coming to pillage and all that, all the locals used to go and hide on the opposite side of the island which is here. So, when they come when the pirates would come in, they would think, "Ah, it's a deserted island here.

[00:06:28]There's not much here. Can't find anybody to pillage." So, um off on our way we went. So, they used to hide around here.

[00:06:37]Um Anyway, enough about that. But I I do like to talk about other stuff like I said.

[00:06:43]How much can you say about ears?

[00:06:46]>> [laughter] >> There's only so much, isn't there?

[00:06:49]So, we're just about to pull this out after a bit of a battle.

[00:06:57]A bit of a squash getting it around that tight bend there.

[00:07:02]And uh yeah, it made a huge difference to this gentleman.

[00:07:06]Like I mentioned before, he said he'd been somewhere else. Didn't really notice a difference cuz he he couldn't hear anything really uh in this ear before he went to see somebody else.

[00:07:17]And he said uh "Now I can tell the difference."

[00:07:21]And can see why.

[00:07:23]Now, there is just a a few little layers of uh skin a bit deeper down here.

[00:07:30]We'll get the majority of that.

[00:07:32]Just a a little bend in it. It's a it's a tight area to get into.

[00:07:39]I love these deep satisfying peels though. They are difficult, but they are so satisfying when they do come.

[00:07:46]>> [sighs] >> Um last little bit. I'm not going to get every speck of this. There's absolutely no need to do that. But I just want to get this layer of dead skin here cuz you can find some suspicious things rarely, but occasionally you can find some suspicious little uh nooks and crannies underneath dead skin this deep in the ear. So, I thought I best just lift it up just to check that that's not the case.

[00:08:10]And it wasn't.
