Native American women face disproportionately high rates of sexual violence, with 80% of women on certain reservations reporting sexual assault. This crisis is compounded by systemic failures in law enforcement, including tribal police being restricted to minor crimes while major investigations are transferred to the FBI, which lacks sufficient resources and personnel to address these cases effectively. The widespread underreporting and lack of public discussion about these issues further perpetuates the problem, highlighting the need for increased awareness, improved law enforcement coordination, and dedicated resources to protect Indigenous women.

80% of women on reservation were assaultedHinzugefügt:
the tribe where I found um 80% of the women had been raped.
Uh there was a lot of different, you know, cases of of relatives who had gone missing, uh you know, women going missing.
Um I guess we're not talking about it enough. That's the problem. Uh to me is that, you know, this should be really uh a a national, you know, emergency that, you know, we have so many native women going missing and and there should be, you know, um a possibility for the local PD, you know, around the tribes to to really like help, you know, the local the tribal police, but also uh it it the way I see things is that the local the tribal police should be able to do their own investigation. And so the way it goes is, "Okay, you have a tribal police.
Uh that's great for, you know, petty crimes, but we're not allowing you uh to do the big investigations." And that's that's the problem. It goes to the FBI and the FBI is not doing it. They're not doing their jobs. They don't have the resources. They don't have, you know, the agents to do that. And so it goes on and on again. Wow.
>> Um what I wish is that we would talk about this matter all the time. Yeah. Uh and even more than today. Well, you are certainly bringing a voice to it and I have no doubt so many people are appreciative. What do you have? What do you think is the best way for our listeners to help support indigenous communities? Essentially, what can we do, Sabrina? Talk about it.
You know, talk about it. Talk about it on social media. Uh you know, talk about it all the time. Um you know, it it's it's it's it's a shocker that, you know, so many women go missing, you know, from the same, you know, population and nobody really like like talks about it.
