In competitive world building for games like Growtopia, creators must balance adding decorative details with maintaining track clarity to avoid confusing players during high-traffic events; while detailed builds can enhance visual appeal, excessive decoration may hinder player navigation and reduce competitive viability.

Check the description for the link. Hey guys, welcome back to another video. So, in this video what I'm going to be doing is I'm going to be participating in Derby this year. [cheering] For those who don't know, Derby is in May, but the official world building for Derby is in April. So, now it's like as I'm recording this, it's like a month ahead, but I'm actually going to go for it this year, and I'm going to be documenting everything I'm doing. So, I'm going to be trying to go for the world by building the world, and I'm going to be trying to get the world by doing parkour. And I'm going to try to do both, but let's see which one will work out for me at the end. And yeah, let's just see how it will go for me this year. So, yeah, everything that's going to happen to me, I will show you guys. So, let's get into the video. So, first things first, for those who don't know, I built already a Derby render, and I'm going to show you on the screen right now what is my render that I built for this year's [music] Derby. You can't really know track unless you try track in game. So, now I have officially built the track in game, and it's already been like a few weeks, and I think this is the final track design for my Derby, and I'm going to do a test run for you guys, so you guys can see how like would it be running my track. Let me just do a test try, and I'm going to do my best as a professional like Let's say I'm a professional derby player, and I'm going to see if I can be one while doing the design. So, yeah, let me do a test run.
>> [music] [music] >> The world name is Realm Shift Derby, so feel free to come and try to track yourself and see if you can beat my high score, which is 44.66.
So, this is my final world design for specifically just the track. And the next part when you'll see me is probably while I'm building the design for the world or when it's the final finished design for the world. All right, so update. Um I was planning to do an update, and I didn't. So, now I'm here to explain everything. So, first thing's first, I'm going to show you guys like the design first. Like I have the render ready. So, I'm going to show you I have a few pictures already ready. So, here's like some pictures right on the screen right now showing like my progress on the world cuz I took a bunch of basically screenshots while making this world. And I made the the final world design.
Um the main thing you guys will notice from the first screenshot that I showed in the video is that the road is purple and not stone. So, I'm going to explain a bit more about the derby itself while I'll I'll guess I'll do a bit of derby while running around. But, um if you haven't noticed, the design itself is Minecraft. As I was doing the derby, I was in my Minecraft phase. Like And yeah, and I'm and I was like I felt so like inspired by Minecraft that I'm like, "Okay, let me do a Minecraft derby." And that's exactly what I did.
So, basically, this everything is Minecraft related. So, the total left side is supposed to be a village related to like villagers in Minecraft. As you can see right now, what I'm doing is supposed to be the nether. So, idea is that this whole track is like a nether portal. So, here you can see this is a literally the nether portal. And if you do the whole track and how in Minecraft it's like 2 seconds to get to the other dimension. So, I decided to just have the whole track as like a dimension itself. So, the whole track you're racing is the dimension, okay?
And yeah, right now, as you can see, the background is the village. And while you're going through the track, you're slowly entering the nether as well, which is like on the right side. So, this was my vision for the [music] nether, basically. And I finished building. It took me so long, honestly.
Like this world took me like 2 weeks to perfect it to everything I wanted to.
But finally, I did hand it in. And I submitted on forums. And as you can see, I did [cheering] win world of the day.
And I'm so so so so so grateful. If anybody else is watching this video, I want to say I'm very grateful on winning world of the day because my goal was to win something. So, I did win world of the day. So, thank you so much. And I'm so grateful that I did win.
But for those who probably, since it's already been Derby, [music] you will also know that I wasn't in the top 20 of the winners for the Mint Julep. So, about that, um I'm not surprised. I'm not surprised. Um if we compare my world from last year to this year's Derby, it's a huge improvement on just building-wise. It's the fact I don't like I'll take this as a win because I tried. I tried to make a top 20 world.
But unfortunately, I just didn't have the world like good enough to be top 20.
And that is okay. Like we all try, we live, we learn. Some worlds are just better, and that is completely okay.
But, um as of recording of this video, um we are actually, like every year they give like a rating back on your build, why like why your world wasn't a top 20 basically, like what was the things that they didn't like. From what I do know, um the only thing that I really noticed in this build [music] is um my track, like this whole track that I'm building right now. You could see it's very, very, I mean, you could say empty in other people's perspectives [music] because I had didn't add any wallpapers. I didn't add any more blocks. I kept it very clear because the idea was I used [music] the background, which is the nebula weather, to give the galaxy background, which is like, "Oh, you're in the nether, and you're doing track." I kept it pretty clear because as you guys know in the years of doing derby, your world gets so full of people, and I think it would be very confusing if you had more like decoration in the middle of the track. I wouldn't want to confuse the players since there would [music] be like 60 players doing the track at the same time. And that was one of the things that was pointed out to me, which I'm going to guess is something is like one of those reasons why I didn't pip my build, you could say. I think they will say that my track is pretty bland, not to their standards.
Um I've learned that, and um I know next year I would add more details to the track. But again, it's very hard to know because you don't know what they think.
But um you can't overdo the track itself because the track can be confusing. And if you don't add enough details, then it's just bland and [music] empty, and it's not enough details. So, that's what I was going through, and I was thinking a lot while building this build, which was, "Do I add more details, or do I stick with what I have?" And I asked many builders advice, and generally it was like 50/50. Do I add more details or do I not?
And I decided to go with the fact that I don't add more details. I keep it as it is because I didn't want to make it confusing. I wanted to keep it clear, which was my goal and I kept [music] it like this. But I think since I didn't win, I probably should have added more details and that's that's a lesson I'm going to take for next year. I love building and like I don't expect to ever win them. So that's why I'm so grateful that I did win builder of the day. So thank you so much for the trophy.
I wasn't expecting it at all since my other builder of the days never did win. So thank you so much and that's pretty much on the building part I wanted to say. And [music] yeah, the next clip I'm going to show you guys is the actual derby day that did come and yeah, let's go to that clip now.
>> [music] >> Am I first?
What the [ __ ] Am I first?
What?
What?
Bro, I stopped stressing in the middle of it. I'm like, wait, am I really first?
Wait, I need confirmation.
Oh my god, I'm shaking.
How I How did I get first? I was literally so bad at this.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. I'm literally shaking right now.
