Imagine spending 27 hours trapped inside a wooden box just to escape slavery.
In March 1849, Henry Box Brown escaped slavery by mailing himself inside a wooden crate.
The crate was only 3 ft long and during the journey it was flipped upside down several times.
After 27 terrifying hours, abolitionists opened the box in Philadelphia and Brown walked out alive.
Henry Box Brown later used his story to inspire others and fight against slavery across America.
But this is just one story.
The next one might change how you see history forever.
This Japanese soldier hid in the jungle for nearly 30 years because he refused to believe World War II was over.
In 1944, Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda was ordered to never surrender on Lubang Island in the Philippines.
After World War II ended in 1945, leaflets were dropped telling soldiers the war was over.
Onoda believed the leaflets were enemy lies, so he stayed hidden in the jungle for nearly 30 years.
In 1974, his former commander finally arrived on the island and personally ordered him to surrender.

His massive Caravan carried thousands of soldiers, servants, and camels loaded with gold.
When Mansa Musa arrived in Cairo, he gave away so much gold that its value reportedly dropped for years.
Instead of spending his wealth on luxury alone, Mansa Musa built schools, libraries, and centers of learning across West Africa.
