Weather impact alert daysHinzugefügt:
Today is Monday, May 18th. I'm meteorologist Lindsay Monroe. A couple of weather impact alert days to let you know about as we are tracking multiple rounds of some potentially strong to severe storms. One this afternoon, secondary round comes in for Tuesday afternoon. So, just a heads-up for today, we're looking approximately after about 2:00 p.m. running through 10:00 tonight, and that encompasses the entire state of Indiana. Primary threats today will be damaging wind gusts as well as isolated large hail. Not going to rule out the potential of an embedded rotating storm within this whole line.
Tornado threat will be low end though for today. We're also keeping an eye on the potential of localized flooding. So, want you to be weather aware, know your safety plan, and have a way to receive alerts. Latest from the Storm Prediction Center has still most of the state in that yellow highlight. That's a level two of five for that risk of scattered strong to severe storms. Timeline going to set up this afternoon, approximately 2:00 p.m. becomes more widespread across central Indiana. This is 4:00 today, and then eventually into the evening tonight. We'll see the risk of some strong storms still throughout southern Indiana. Believe by the time we lose that daytime heating, the sun goes down, our severe threat's going to wrap up by about 10:00, 11:00 tonight. Little later for the southern half of the state. Now, we have to talk about round two. This is for your Tuesday. Look how widespread this area of potentially severe weather will exist. It's going to be a long cold front, and it ranges from Vermont down to Texas. This level two of five already being issued for tomorrow. That does include basically the entire state of Indiana. Overnight showers going to wrap up. We are watching that window of dry time though. That's going to potentially allow that atmosphere to recover during the first part of the day on Tuesday as we await the arrival of this frontal boundary. Timing will be pretty similar to today as we get into Tuesday for that severe threat ramping up after 1:00 p.m.
Do believe severe weather will come to an end as the sun goes down on Tuesday.
So, a couple pretty active weather days for you. We'll keep you posted. Weather impact alert both Monday and Tuesday.
