Preparing for my last hurrah trip to England before brain surgery #craniotomy #mydailyvlog #englandAdded:
Pretty soon I won't be able to blame all my imperfections on my brain tumor.
My brain tumor will be removed as soon as I get back from England. I've been trying to act a little blasé about my craniotomy, but I really am scared.
My grandmother had brain surgery when she was my age, 54 years old, and she spent the next 15 years in the nursing home.
And I really don't want that to happen to me.
I'm planning on doing an afternoon tea while I'm in England, and I may do more than one. Here are some places I'm interested in checking out.
They serve something. I'm not going to say it. It's a bad word here. It's like I would not want to say it here in the United States.
But, they serve these meatball things there.
What you've heard about the UK not having good food is a a lie. It is a lie. Hey friends, good morning. I am getting ready for my trip to England. I can't just say London cuz I'm I'm going outside of London this time, so I'm really excited about that.
I'm trying to pack, and of course, when I checked the forecast because I'm coming from Arizona to England, you're going to have a heat wave over there. Yes, that is true. We are going to have a heat wave in England.
And the day after I arrive, it's supposed to be like 83° there. What am I going to do with 83° weather? I was hoping for some doom and gloom and rain, and it's clear skies at 83°, which is hot for London.
So, I don't know what to pack.
Um I think what I'm going to do is just pack what I always wear in Tucson.
T-shirts, jeans, and a jacket.
So, yeah, that's going to probably be my attire. I bought some really cute clothes and I'm not going to be able to wear them now.
They're more for like a cool spring day and I'm not going to get that this time.
I've been outside giving my trees a little bit of extra love before I leave and I noticed when I looked at my video, I had leaves all over my shirt.
>> [laughter] >> Probably in my hair, too.
Oh, well. What you see is what you get with me.
Pretty soon, I won't be able to blame all my imperfections on my brain tumor.
My brain tumor will be removed as soon as I get back from England. So, I'm I'm nervous. I'm really, really nervous about it, but I'm ready. I It needs to come out. Definitely.
I am going to have a Sunday dinner today. Basically, I am cleaning out my refrigerator before I leave.
So, I just looked to see what I had in there and that is what my Sunday dinner is going to consist of. I think I'm going to make some Well, I am going to make some carrots. I have those in the crock-pot because it's we've been hitting high temperatures for this time of year and um it's actually cooled down over the last couple of days. We hit I think it was 107 this week.
And I think today it's only supposed to be in the 90s. Alexa, what's the temperature?
It's 72° right now with a high of 94° and a low of 61° for today. Feels like 74, so it's a perfect Sunday morning.
94's really nice. I like 94.
So, anyway, I have carrots in the crock-pot because I don't want to heat up my house. I have some corn on the cob I'm going to make. I've got some cabbage. I've got some sausage and some shrimp and I'm just going to kind of throw it all together and that's going to be Sunday dinner.
And now I'm going to take you back in time.
That's me going back in time.
>> [laughter] >> And I'll show you what's been going on around here for the last few days.
My vitex are all in bloom and look absolutely stunning.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there, the grandmothers, the aunts who love their nieces and nephews just like their own, mothers of fur babies, mother types.
You don't have to give birth to enjoy Mother's Day because I know you have made a difference in someone's life.
So, happy Mother's Day.
We came up to Snooze and I had I had the right frame of mind to uh go ahead and put us on the waitlist. So, I called. I couldn't do it online because I think they had it turned off.
I called and had us put on the waitlist and I'm so glad we did.
Um when I got here it was an hour wait for anybody else. Like the people in front of us, there were I think three in their party, which is what we have, and it was an hour wait. So, I'm really, really glad that we got a table quickly.
There's a lot of really good looking stuff on the menu, but I'm just going to go with old faithful. I like Juan's tacos. That's what I always get usually.
I say usually because sometimes I do have the pancakes.
I ended up getting a chai latte. It is hot. And of course the incredible Juan's tacos.
We celebrated Mother's Day again later in the week and we shared a burrata and a pizza at Amore. It was delicious and we had such a nice time.
I want to do an afternoon tea when I'm in England, maybe a couple. And here are some places that I'm interested in. I would love to visit the Old York Tea Room. Everything looks so beautiful.
And the Chocolate Cocktail Club looks like a lot of fun. They also serve an afternoon tea, chocolate-based, and look at these drinks. They look so decadent.
Why yes, I am making a fried bologna sandwich for breakfast.
And I did take a bite out of it first.
I've been trying to act a little blasé about my craniotomy, but I really am scared.
My grandmother had brain surgery when she was my age, 54 years old.
And she spent the next 15 years in the nursing home.
And I really don't want that to happen to me.
Our surgeries are different.
She had an aneurysm.
I have a brain tumor.
Oopsie.
But it's still scary.
And now I've placed a slice of provolone on top cuz I'm going fancy it up.
I'm joking about the fancying it up part.
And there we have it. Breakfast is served.
So, I've been researching different things I'd like to try when I'm over in England.
And I guess there's a breakfast sandwich called a bap or a buddy.
So, I definitely want to try that. Of course, I'm going to have fish and chips again. You have to have fish and chips when you go to the UK.
And I don't know if I'm going to get to Whitby or not, but I would like to.
We'll see. We'll see what happens.
I hear that the best fish and chips are from Whitby. How true is that? Let me know.
What else? Um oh. Oh my goodness. So, I've been looking at menus online.
And I found this place in York. And I was looking at their menu.
And they serve something I'm not going to say it. It's a bad word here. It's like I would not want to say it here in the United States.
But, they serve these meatball things there that I will probably try. If you know what I'm talking about, you can say it if you want, but I'm not going to say what they are.
But, I do want to try those. And I found a bunch of places that serve steak and ale pie.
Love steak and ale pie.
I have yet to try bangers and mash, so I may try that.
Don't really know what I'm going to be eating, but I know I'm going to enjoy it because what you've heard about the UK not having good food is a a lie. It is a lie. I have enjoyed everything I've had in the UK.
Even blood pudding.
So.
And I can't wait to have sticky toffee pudding. I might have that every day.
And a Scotch egg. Oh, yeah, I have to have a Scotch egg.
Love Scotch eggs.
Yeah, I can't wait to eat.
I'm going to make me another one.
I don't typically eat fried bologna.
But I was in the grocery store the other day and it just sounded good.
My mom used to tell me stories about when she was a kid it was a treat to go to this little market.
They lived out in the country, but there was this little market out in the middle of nowhere.
And they would get a big slab of bologna and uh cut off a big chunk and just eat it.
And sometimes all you want is a fried bologna sandwich.
Well, thank you so much for being here today and listening to me rambling. I'm going to go ahead and end the video right now. I will put my Sunday dinner on the next video.
And um again, thank you so much for being here. It means a lot to me and I love reading your comments and talking to you. So, keep those comments coming.
Really, really do enjoy that very much.
I will be um probably making one more video before I leave for London.
And that's just in a few days. I can't wait. I'm so excited about this trip. I jokingly call it my last hurrah trip.
I'm hoping it's not my last hurrah. I hope I have a lot more hurrahs in my future. But, that's what this trip is going to be called, my last hurrah trip.
But, I say it in a joking manner.
All right, friends. You have a great rest of your weekend and um I'll see you again soon.
Bye.
