Tonight's Forecast: Staying cool heading into the weekend
Added:[music] >> Tonight as we are getting a check of your weather ready forecast, we did see another cooler than average day today and that's going to lead to temperatures tonight dropping into the mid 50s for us in West Michigan as winds come in from the west at about 5 miles per hour.
Heading into the afternoon tomorrow, we do expect highs to get back into the 70s. There will be a lot of sunshine, but it is going to be a breezy day as well with winds coming in from the northwest. It's going to be very similar to what we saw out there today in terms of the wind. As we look ahead to our Father's Day weekend in West Michigan, we are tracking temperatures that will be into the low to maybe some mid 70s in the coming days, but I do want to point your attention to Sunday because I think there is a chance of seeing some rain, especially in our southern neighborhoods in the afternoon and evening hours of our Sunday. But overall, I think most of the weekend will actually end up being dry for us in West Michigan as we celebrate all of the dads around the area. Satellite radar across the Great Lakes state uh showing that we have that storm system from yesterday now lifting off to our north and east. There is a weak disturbance that's going to pass through the area overnight tonight. It's not out of the question that we see a sprinkle or two from this, but I think for the most part uh we will be dry overnight tonight uh with just a few clouds around. And I'll show you that here with your FOX 17 weather ready future track. It is showing that weak disturbance passing on through with a couple of drops of rain, maybe a few clouds, but that's about it. As we begin the day on Friday, we start off with plenty of sunshine and like I mentioned, I do expect temperatures to climb into the 70s, but I do want to point your attention to Friday night because we will have another weak disturbance passing through the area and this very likely will bring us a couple of showers as we get late Friday night and the early Saturday morning. I don't think this will be a huge deal for us and many of us won't even know it rained because this will be very quick to move out by morning and I do expect some dry weather for most of Saturday. And then once we get into Sunday, we have that next storm system move in that I kind of mentioned there. Uh but you'll see with our rain chances, I never put the percentages all that high for us as they move forward.
That 30% chance for tomorrow is because of the nighttime chance and maybe a stray shower early Saturday. And then a slightly better chance of seeing some rain and storms on Sunday, especially into the afternoon. I've been looking at some of our latest computer model data for that system. All over the place.
Some models have it north, bringing us quite a bit of rain. Other models have it south. The timing is up in the air.
So, I'm not putting a higher percentage than that at this point. Uh but we'll keep an eye on that for Sunday. I know a lot of people will have plans for the holiday. Uh but it's not looking all that likely that we're going to see a soaking rain for us in West Michigan. I do want to real quickly talk about some of our temperatures because a lot of people have been asking when will we see the return of some warmer temperatures?
I think this is when it's going to come, towards the end of the month into early July. There is a probability that we'll see above average temperatures during that time frame. And that could mean back in the 80s and maybe even 90s by the time we get towards early July.
Until then, the rest of the 7-day forecast shows high temperatures in the 70s with a few rain chances sprinkled in.
