The Backrooms movie, directed by 20-year-old YouTuber Kane Parsons and produced by A24, adapts the viral internet horror concept of an endless maze of liminal spaces into a feature film, successfully capturing the unsettling atmosphere of the original YouTube videos while adding cinematic elements like entities and creatures, though some viewers felt it could have included more supernatural elements to fully capture the horror essence of the source material.

Backrooms Is... (Movie Review)Added:
Keep me as far away from the backrooms as possible. I just got done watching A24's newest film The Backrooms and genuinely what the [ __ ] Now, going into watching this movie, I kind of already knew the lore of the backrooms. I actually watched Kane Pixels YouTube videos on his YouTube channel where he originally made The Backrooms. Yes, Kane Pixels, also known as Kane Parsons, is a 20-year-old YouTuber that actually is the director of this movie, which is just insane. So, Kane Parsons was actually in college and A24 came to him to ask him to make this movie. So, I guess diving right in without spoiling anything, this movie is about the backrooms. Now, think of the backrooms as an alternate reality with an endless maze, doors that open to nowhere, and hallways that lead to dead ends.
Basically, if you go in the backrooms, you're [ __ ] Now, genuinely, I had a great time watching this movie. Was it the best? No, but I didn't expect it to be the best. I wanted to go into this feeling like I was watching one of Kane Pixels YouTube videos on his channel, and yeah, I felt that. The entire POV section of this movie is so intense and so disturbing and so distraught and awesome. I will say, when I think of the backrooms, I think of entities. I think of these disgusting creatures that chase after you, that scare the [ __ ] out of you, and I didn't actually feel that in this. Like, yes, there are a couple entities. Yes, there are a few things that chase you in this movie, but it's nothing like the actual YouTube videos.
I think they definitely could have benefited with adding more entities, more crazy creatures. Like, we know the backrooms has some insane creatures. I think they could have made some insane [ __ ] Now, nonetheless, this movie is going to make so much money, probably 60 to 80 million in the first weekend alone. Now, like I said before, going into this movie, I kind of knew what I was going to expect when watching this movie. I knew that we were going to get some Kane Pixels stuff. I knew that we were going to get some endless mazes. I knew that. We got that. The The entity stuff, that's fine. That's okay. Howdy doody dandy. I don't really care, but genuinely, I had a good time watching this. Like my Like I said before, my theater was absolutely stacked. There were so many people in my theater. I just This movie is going to make so much money. Like I hope you guys know that.
This movie is going to make so much money. I'm talking 60 to 80 million first weekend. Like it's going It's going to make a lot. And honestly, I liked everything in this movie. I really did. I think Kane Parsons did a fantastic job bringing the backrooms to life. And it's A24. Like we're not going to get a bad project, I feel like with A24. We always get some good [ __ ] And this was good. This was good. It's not perfect. It's probably not better than Obsession. I have not seen Obsession. I don't know why I'm comparing the two cuz they're totally different. But for what it is, it's good. I'm dead ass waiting for this to come out on digital because I will be reacting to this movie again.
I will be watching it again because I I just I loved it. I love the Kane Pixel YouTube videos. I watched I think a few of them on the channel. It's been a while. It's been a while. I'm sorry, that's a song.
It's been a while since I've watched them. But genuinely, I had a good time.
I I liked the movie. It It was fun. It was exciting. It was thrilling. It was disturbing. It was at points terrifying. If you're not a fan of claustrophobia and tight spaces, you're not going to like this movie because it's Oh my god. Jumping into my ranking system, I don't always rank stuff. I'm not a critic. I am a creator.
I'm an influencer. I just give my thoughts on the movie. I don't try to go into these reviews critiquing every single thing. I just want to talk about it because I enjoy talking about movies.
I think this movie deserves a solid four out of five stars. It's not perfect. I wish they would have had more entities.
I wish they would have added a few more things. But honestly, the endless maze, the doors that lead to nowhere, the endless mystery of the backrooms is just apparent in this movie, and they do such a good job. But there are my thoughts for the backrooms movie. If you guys enjoyed this movie, if you guys have seen this movie, let me know down in the comment section below because I would love to talk about this movie with you guys.
