[00:00:05]Long legs and weapons. These These are two movies that in a way are kind of about a like a parasite horror villain.

[00:00:12]Someone who's not directly doing anything but is causing all of the chaos to unfold. So what who's your favorite parasite?

[00:00:20]Bro, this is another really tough one cuz [laughter] I love both of these movies so freaking much. You know that.

[00:00:28]Oh yeah.

[00:00:29]>> Um you know, these are two movies that came out and just nailed it. They nailed it. They got critical acclaim. They did well in the theaters. You got some great actors in both of these films. Nicholas Cage, you got Josh Brolin, um Maika Monroe. I mean and I've been a fan of her since back in the day, you know, with It Follows.

[00:00:53]And she's done some wonderful stuff.

[00:00:56]Like there's a lot of stuff that is so under the radar people don't even really know. She's fantastic. Uh Weapons the the the marketing for Weapons was awesome.

[00:01:07]The fun of Weapons was awesome. Amy Madigan uh showing us the greatest aunt of all time and [laughter] Aunt Gladys.

[00:01:16]I love Julia Garner. I am a huge fan of her. She's amazing. Um this is tough, bro. And And also let me give a shout out to Alden Ehrenreich. He was really good in Weapons.

[00:01:30]>> He was really good and you know, you have that one I mean there's great scenes all throughout it but that one scene where she's in the car and she's looking across the street to the house and the door open It's so simple. Dude.

[00:01:44]It's so simple but it is amazing. So once again, you know, Zach Cregger you know, Mr. Barbarian himself he's just amazing. He's absolutely amazing.

[00:01:56]That being said, I'm going to go with Longlegs though.

[00:01:59]>> [laughter] >> Oh, what? See, you were talking up. You were just talking up weapons. That's crazy. I I love the twist though.

[00:02:11]I [laughter] had to do it and I'm and here's why.

[00:02:14]Because both films are great. Both films have great atmosphere and so and so forth.

[00:02:20]But the way that Oz Perkins presented Longlegs, like we saw it in the theater and it just felt like again, I I know I keep saying this about a lot of these films, but it's something that I hold very high with films I like.

[00:02:35]It was an experience. You know, even his choices for music, uh the way that the the title card comes, you know, the way Nicolas Cage was just so bonkers, you know? You know, you know? And I mean, Maika again was amazing in this film. I loved her performance. It was so odd and and distinct and fun. Um yeah, I got to go with Longlegs, but it's it's it's it's close cuz Weapons, bro, when those kids >> [laughter] >> when they go on the rampage, the all there was so many of us in the theater just yipping and yaying and roaring. It was it was it was amazing.

[00:03:19]So, Weapons is great, but I got to go with Longlegs.

[00:03:23]I I I've really come around to both to both of these films cuz Longlegs was one that I wasn't crazy about walking out of the theater, but the more I've watched it, I I've really I've really dug it.

[00:03:33]And and I think in both of these movies' cases, they have some god damn excellent like S-tier performances. Like without a doubt, dude. I mean, oh my god. I can't remember, is it Blair Underwood in Yes.

[00:03:45]Longlegs? Dude, like an unsung hero of that film. Like listen, Maika Monroe, amazing. Nicolas Cage, one of his most iconic roles, without a doubt. But man, Blair Underwood is kicking ass in that movie. And I don't know if he's gotten his flowers or not. Can I just say that?

[00:04:01]Come on now.

[00:04:02]>> Good point. Alicia Witt, too. Um I should should make that point as well.

[00:04:06]>> Oh my god. You know, final girl from back in the day, uh you know, urban legend style, you know, and of course it it didn't really exist according to our good friend Jared Leto, but still.

[00:04:18]>> [laughter] >> Alicia Witt. She was great. She was Dude, she was so creepy. Oh my gosh.

[00:04:24]Loved her. Like it's funny because she was able to tap into a very odd eccentric creepiness to her demeanor and her delivery, just like Maika was. And like that that would that's pretty amazing. It's just awesome.

[00:04:40]I love seeing an actress that you're just not expecting to give that kind of performance and then finding that, you know what I mean? I I love when you have an an actress like that who gets a big opportunity, gives us something different than what typically comes from their wheelhouse, and [ __ ] knocks it out of the park. And Alicia Witt, 100% another another person from that movie that I feel doesn't get their flowers.

[00:04:59]Um so yes, that that was it's an ex- a lot of excellent performances there. My my issue with Long Legs has always been just it was the devil. Like and I guess that, you know, I think maybe it's because of so many um religious horror movies kind of falling back on this lately that it almost like with how unique that flick was, um just for it to all to just to be the devil, it's just like, come on. Like we've seen that a million times before.

[00:05:23]This movie was so inventive and so felt so fresh the entire time and just to go down that direction, um I don't know, felt a little I don't want to I don't want to say lazy, but I just think for me I I've you know, after [ __ ] a million Conjuring flicks, >> [laughter] >> it's just like you can do something else besides just the devil, you know? I don't know. But um I wish there was more to the ending outside of of you know, Satan made me do it. Um so I think that's why I got to give it to Weapons. I just I love the idea of a of a modern-day witch more more than anything. Yeah.

[00:05:54]>> Yeah, that's fair. That is very fair.

[00:05:57]But I I both of these movies very very great entries in modern horror and I think we'll both be talked about for a very long time to come.

[00:06:06]One other point I'll make about Weapons cuz I'm seeing people talk about this in the comments. I think that Weapons does such a great and another thing that I just love about that movie it it's such a hard balancing act of doing like a little bit of comedy, a little bit of drama, a little bit of horror. It's it's everything. It is an everything bagel of a movie and it does it so well in in literally every piece of it.

[00:06:27]Um The Raising Arizona ending is outrageous, but at the same time it's [ __ ] brutal. I mean when those kids are ripping apart Aunt Gladys, that is that's so disturbing and bloody.

[00:06:39]And then dude, the ending of that movie [ __ ] chilling. Like I can't remember the last words exactly off the top of my head, but it's something like, you know, some of the kids started talking again last month or something. Like, what? Oh my god. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it lingered.

[00:06:54]It's like, oh no, that's bad. It's a it's a horrifying movie despite its silliness and I again, it's just something that I I that's so tough to do. That's so ambitious and that's not an easy thing to pull off and somehow Weapons did it. So, that's I think that's why that one's got to be be my vote. But again, both of these movies [ __ ] phenomenal and however however you feel about either of them, I think you got to admit this is a close match up. These are both pretty damn fantastic.

[00:07:19]>> Those kids walked out of those homes. No one pulled them out.

[00:07:22]So, I'm loving to see it. We are going to I think we're going to We've been We've been talking about this one for a while, so I think we are going to close the poll. Weapons is going to move forward with 67% of the audience vote and Longlegs with 33. Another one I wish was a little closer though, I will say.

[00:07:38]Some brutal stuff. This Blood is being shed tonight. That that's for sure.
