Okay, let's talk beams. So, the P27iX is using new micro LEDs. So, instead of using one traditional LED inside, like you see here on the older P20i, the front of this light is split into 20 individual micro LEDs. So, quick history on why this matters. In the past, if you wanted a flood beam like this, you had to physically split the bezel into four like this. So, this is a flood beam, see? If you wanted a spot beam like the P20i here, you have to have one LED in a deeper reflect behind it. So, this one throws far, narrow beam. This one is a flood beam, wide, okay? So, the catch is you had to pick. You either bought a floodlight or you bought a spotlight.
You couldn't have both. The P27iX combines all of that into one head. You get a long throw spot beam like this, and you get a mixed beam like this, and you get a floodlight that looks like this. So, instead of best of two worlds, you get best of three. Another quiet benefit to having 20 micro LEDs instead of one, failure rate. If you got one LED like this, once that LED dies, your whole light is dead. With 20 micro LEDs, the chance of total failure is way, way lower. So, you have to lose a lot of them before the light actually becomes unusable.
