[00:00:17]There's a congressional candidate in New York endorsed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

[00:00:26]Her name is Darializa Avilia Chevalier Chevalier Chevalier.

[00:00:34]>> And she's because she gets closer to some probability of winning, she's had to delete a previous Twitter account that included >> Yep.

[00:00:46]>> thousands of posts and report and reposts expressing support for abolishing police, abolishing prisons, abolishing borders, as well as her her desire to seize private property and nationalize major industries and calling into question Israel's right to exist.

[00:01:09]Okay. She's a 32-year-old investigator at a public defender's office in New York. She's a doctoral student, of course, at the Field Academy.

[00:01:18]She has emerged as one of the most prominent left-wing challengers in the country after Mamdani endorsed her bid to unseat long-time Democratic Rep.

[00:01:29]Adriano Espaillat in New York's 13th Congressional District.

[00:01:35]But the posts from her since-deleted account from over the last decade have drawn scrutiny amid her high-profile challenge of Espaillat. was a five-term incumbent and chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The primary is June 23 and has become a closely watched battle between the Democratic Party's establishment and its it's ascending socialist wing with Mom Donny's endorsement last week elevating the races national profile.

[00:02:05]Well, this this is a woman who does not like the country and she has her reasons and she doesn't like cops, she doesn't like Israel, she doesn't like Democratic politicians, she doesn't like private property, she doesn't like borders, she doesn't want any deportations.

[00:02:25]Uh, she said those posts do not reflect who she is today. Well, yes, they do. Of course, they do.

[00:02:32]And it goes on to say, uh, she she'll take on corporate greed, bad landlords, DC's broken political system.

[00:02:41]I'm sure you will, honey. I mean, they all do, don't you?

[00:02:44]Uh, I don't want to read any more about her, but but that's an example of a politician. Could you see, in all seriousness, that she would obviously wish to give everything back, uh, much less a dog park?

[00:02:59]Uh, she wants to, uh, abolish the border.

[00:03:04]All deportation is wrong.

[00:03:07]Uh, her Twitter profile biography also at one point included the phrase, "How communist of you."

[00:03:14]Uh, I don't know what that means, but oh.

[00:03:18]She describes her location as occupied Lenape land, uh, uh, acknowledging indigenous claims to New York City.

[00:03:30]I You can't make this stuff up. Let's go from a dog park in Minneapolis to the entire city of New York.

[00:03:38]And here's a candidate, a Democratic Marxist socialist, who would be very comfortable with figuring out some way to give New York City back.

[00:03:53]>> She wants the government to take over sweeping parts of the economy. Well, Trump's done that. The repost advocating uh nationalizing utilities, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies, suspending rent and mortgage payments. You shouldn't have to pay.

[00:04:08]Dissolving private health and seizing all properties from landlords. Holy mackerel. Other deleted posts and reposts include references to communism and anti-capitalist politics.

[00:04:20]In one April of 2020 post, Avia Chevalier wrote that while most of the political theory she had read was communist, the pyromania associated with anachronism is very intriguing to me, she said. What?

[00:04:36]Seizing the means of production, she wrote, uh is a phrase commonly associated with Marxism. The deleted posts included repeated calls for abolishing the press. During nationwide protests in 2020 following the killing of George Floyd, Avia Chevalier responded to a user asking what a better slogan would be than defund the police by by posting F blank blank K U. Bleep you.

[00:06:07]Uh, the deleted posts also reflected hostility toward prominent Democrats couched in profane terms after Bernie Sanders ended his 2020 presidential campaign.

[00:06:49]She's facing now some backlash online after promoting I didn't think it would come to this in my lifetime that I'd actually be saying this.

Uh We got We got notes here that say uh uh Wu has denied reports in the past that city funds were used to support a program program offering LGBTQ migrants $500 in wellness perks after a local advocacy group advertised the benefits and later scaled back its description in backlash.

[00:10:05]Uh there's so many acronyms in this story that it's pointless to read it.

[00:10:09]So, they got the You know, they got the period thing going. So, you got that going for you.

[00:10:18]>> And if you don't think these are people who would who would uh give who would declare the United States unofficial and it must be torn asunder, you're crazy cuz that's what's happening.

[00:10:52]>> Well, I began thinking about this old uh moment of silence for Chauvin, which has backfired spectacularly.

[00:11:01]>> You know, it's not >> staying in the news the way I thought it would be.

[00:11:06]>> the Star Tribune is printing every letter it can find about it.

[00:11:09]>> Oh, I I stopped with the letters. I I'll admit I stopped with the letters.

[00:11:13]>> But I got to thinking uh the average GLer in Minnesota is not represented, which is tantamount to saying the average law-abiding tax-paying, employed human citizen of of of the of Minnesota is not represented at the endorsing conventions of either party. Now, that And and you have to you have to be fair here and say, well, you could be. You could go to the you could go to caucuses, try to get yourself elected as a delegate to the endorsing convention and go. And that and that's and the people who are there are there legitimately. They earned that right by giving up their Saturday in April or whatever it was, and they went to their caucuses, and they they got themselves a a delegate position at either the DFL or the Republican endorsing convention, and off they go.

[00:12:16]But, what we've learned most generally speaking, the people who advanced to the endorsing conventions are the most rabid of that particular party. And the most rabid of both parties now are extreme radicals. I don't think that's hyperbole. The the the most rabid attendees at the caucuses, and therefore the most rabid attendees who become endorsing convention delegates are the most radical wings of both parties.

[00:12:56]So, they And in the Republican case, they get up to Duluth and uh only a radical would come up with the idea that uh uh Chauvin was treated unfairly. He didn't murder anybody. He's just a white cop who was uh made a scapegoat of.

[00:13:14]That's a radical position. I don't care where you stand on the Chauvin George Floyd thing. That is a radical position.

[00:13:21]That person that person's voice is now important at the convention because it's probably similar to many voices at the convention. In the meantime, the candidates who realize they need the votes of GLers and average Minnesota citizens who are employed and law-abiding and pay their taxes and have a degree of common sense, they don't want to vote for that. And so now Kendall Qualls and Lisa Demuth, they have to walk on eggshells trying to figure this out. How do I parse this so I don't lose GLers and I don't lose the extreme wings of the party. I need them all to win. How do I do this? You know what? I don't think they can. I don't think they can.

[00:14:13]>> And and Klobuchar who is and been invited this show and we still anticipate still anticipate she'll be joining us. How is she going to do it? She encountered whack jobs at the convention in Rochester.

[00:14:37]Just the primary. No caucuses, no endorsing conventions.

[00:15:58]They're going to vote for the person the the person with the most familiar name, the person who has the most ad money, the most campaign money, correct? Isn't that how it's going to go? So it'd be Lisa and Kendall versus virtually everybody else who nobody's heard of anybody else, right?

[00:16:40]And in the Duluth case, the extremists were successful in in making a moment of silence for Chauvin a part of the convention.

[00:16:50]And if the peop if the politicians could ever be honest like Qualls and Demuth, they would say, "That's dreadful. We shouldn't have done it. It's a horrible optic. I want no part of it." But they're they're all gutless, all of them, both parties. They are not They're always afraid to be them trues their true selves.

[00:17:37]I did want to bring up the fact that the far right of the party, they were, according to some reports, were upset with her because she came to a budget deal during the last session. Believe it or not, there are members of the party that were pissed off at her because she had the gall to negotiate with the Democrats.
