Probabilistic Computing: Faster Optimization with Novel Bits #shortsAdded:
I will briefly um, uh, present what what I mean by probabilistic computing and probabilistic bits, which are kind of the fundamental building blocks of of uh, probabilistic computing.
Uh, the first one, which is fairly established by now, uses devices uh, called stochastic magnetic tunnel junctions, which are designed to be unstable, to be very susceptible to thermal noise.
And uh, so they can act as sources of randomness uh, to execute probabilistic algorithms. And I will show some examples of how this can uh, uh, speed up the solution of um, of uh, combinatorial optimization problems and how it can allow us to create energy landscapes that are much easier and more efficient to explore.
