Today's Miami Valley Forecast: 7/21/26

[00:00:07]>> Well, the forecast is not as cute as the baby fox there, but we are starting the day off with temperatures right around 72 degrees. So, it is uh on the uh milder side here as we start the day off and the dew point is at 68. Some areas in the 70s for the dew point, so it is a muggy start to the morning hours and uh not so great here as we go through the morning time because we have chances of storms starting to move into the uh northwest portion of the Miami Valley right now. There just showers at the moment, but we do have thunderstorms just on the doorstep here as we get into uh close to the 6:00 a.m. hour. But, looking at hour by hour, we'll see the chance of showers storms through the morning, midday, even into the afternoon. And by the evening, there's a lot of uncertainty about the evening storms, but there is another chance there for some storms in the evening hours. Some of these could be strong here today as well with damaging winds the main threat.

[00:00:54]High temperatures today up to about 83, 84 degrees up in our northern counties.

[00:00:58]You get further south, it may be a degree or two warmer, 85, 86 in Dayton, Springboro, and Oxford. You can see 83 there in Xenia. And as I mentioned, some rain into Mercer County. And as you can see, there's also some storms further off to the west that actually have some thunder and lightning in them. They will be moved in and you'll probably hear them here as you uh as you start your morning off, have a cup of coffee, and you'll probably uh hear that thunder in northwest portions of the Miami Valley.

[00:01:24]This is all part of a low pressure system up in Canada near the Great Lakes and that has brought relief to the wildfires there as well as they've had some rain, so there's some smoldering going on right now and the uh wildfires are starting to uh wind down a little bit. Could uh reignite though as we have some drier weather in the forecast. But, as we look at satellite radar, you can see that line developing in other parts of Indiana. That's going to uh dip southeast and into the Miami Valley here early in the daytime. 72 right now Dayton, 74 Fairborn, 70 up in Wapakoneta, 72 for Bellefontaine.

[00:01:54]Looking at the dew points right now are around 70 degrees in the upper 60s for some, lower 70s for others.

[00:02:01]Severe weather outlook here today is slight risk for most of the area.

[00:02:04]Damaging winds going to be the main threat, but can't rule out a tornado or two or even some large hail here as we go through the daytime. So, we have that slight risk mainly in the afternoon.

[00:02:13]Could see an isolated storm in the morning that could be severe, but for the most part the afternoon and evening hours is when we are watching for the severe weather. Here as we go through the morning hours, you can see those storms continuing to fire off as we head into the middle of the daytime and in the afternoon. This is where we could see that chance for some severe weather here.

[00:02:31]And with this model, it actually has single cell. So, that means that we could see some supercells here today as we go into the afternoon. And then as we get into the evening, this is what is a lot more uncertain as we get to about 8:00 9:00 p.m., but we do have a chance of more storms firing off and we could see some severe weather with that as well. Drying out overnight, you see some green here, but we are going to be dry tomorrow on Future Track as we go into your Wednesday. 86° here for the high.

[00:02:56]Thunderstorms with partly cloudy skies.

[00:02:58]Will be a humid one. Winds up to about 20 mph. Overnight, a cold front sweeps on through. It's pretty potent as well.

[00:03:04]So, temps down to 57° here tonight with those dew points in the 50s as well. 75 tomorrow, much cooler, mostly sunny, a beautiful day to get outside. Not usually you see a 70° reading in July, but we'll have multiple of them as we go through the next 7 days into the weekend. 79° on Friday, but warming up quickly over the weekend. 87 Sunday, Monday, 90°.
