The PAW 100 is a 1cc British diesel engine manufactured by Progress Arowworks in England, known for its reliability and dependability across a range of sizes from 0.55cc to 40cc; it features a simple design with a removable needle valve for carburetor installation, and during initial operation, it may produce some debris as it beds in, but runs smoothly and can achieve high RPM (over 10,000) after a few minutes of operation.

PAW 100 (1cc) British Diesel Engine - Run & ReviewAdded:
Hi there. Well, I've got a great engine to share with you today. No frrills, no fancy stuff, just a really good solid made and um a wellperforming really dependable engine. This is a P AW 100. So, it's a 1cc and I mean they all I've got quite a few different paw engines from a a 0.55cc right up to a 40cc and they are all to my mind fantastic. They start well, they run well. The ones that have got the RC carbs throttle really well as you know they're just really dependable. And as I said, this is a 1 C engine. So, we'll take a closer look now. So, this comes in the standard box that we're we're kind of all used to seeing the PAW engines in. And uh you can see made in England. And as I said, these are still made and they're made at the Makersfield address. Paw stands for Progress Arowworks.
And we can see on here diesel 100 M2.
So, it's one of the later uh diesel engines. And if we have a look at this, it is essentially a standard looking uh PAW that we're all used to seeing. And there's no frills, but they are reliable and dependable. And I've got the um the needle valve out. It just fits in the box a little bit better. Let me just zoom in slightly.
There we go. And I mean, this is not a brand new engine. You can see there's a little bit of tarnishing. I could soon clean that up if I want to, but I I'm not really that that bothered. When we fit the carb to these, you take out the needle valve. I think you put in a grub screw and the carb goes into the venturi with a needle valve slightly higher up.
It's a really good design that um allows for uh both eventualities.
Now paw engines are of a very similar kind of pattern design and they just uh get bigger or smaller if you like. This here which is essentially the same size is a paw80.
And with the later engines the way you can tell is they've got it stamped on the back plate. So if we look at this one um actually that's glaring a bit.
It's and it's upside down. But hopefully you can see in there if I bring that in.
Yeah, I think you can see that it's got a a 100 for 1 cc. And if we look at this one, we can see the 80. Hopefully that shows up. It's really glaring. I can see in the camera. But anyway, lovely engines. I can't speak uh highly enough of them.
Now, I've got a really um interesting model that I'd like to get this in. I still need to find an RC car for this.
Uh but I haven't built I haven't built the model yet, so I've got plenty of time. But anyway, dead excited to get this in the test stand and see how it runs.
Right. Well, we've got the uh the tank filled up. It feels a little bit uh little bit stiff or gummed up, but I think it'll be fine once we get a a little bit of fuel in it just to uh just to loosen it up. Oh yeah, that's loosened already. So, uh dead interesting to see how this uh PAW 100 runs. And we've got it on this Tornado 7x4 prop. So, if we open the fuel valve and we'll just give it a little bit of uh a port prime and that will certainly uh free it up a little bit as well.
Now, I have no idea where the compression should be on this.
See, let me uh Oh, no. Leave that.
Right.
It's uh sound like it wants to go.

Heat.
Well, that ran lovely. It was a little bit mucky at first. Um, but I don't know how long this engine's been stood and it's not necessarily cuz it's overco compressed cuz I don't think it was. Um, I think it's just muck that's been cleaning out the engine. But then it did run nice and clear. So, let's see how easy that starts a second time. And, uh, what is it? Still Yep. Still still hot.
So, right, let's see what we can do. Okay.
One, two, three, and Another lovely diesel.

[Laughter] And we're out of fuel. Well, that ran really nice. Um, I've had easier starting PAWs, but it wasn't hard to start. It just I think you just need to get to know your individual engines. And I think this engine, this was engine was given to me recently. And um it's it's a little bit tarnished. It looks like it's been sat around for a while, but I think this is a new engine. It chucked out a lot of muck at the at the beginning, which um I I'm not sure whether that was the oil that was stored in it, but it ran lovely and clean after that. It's it's running lovely and clean now.
But the thing is, I've run this uh probably for about eight minutes, 10 minutes in about three different slots, and each time I'm getting slightly higher RPM. This last run, which you saw, I went over 10,000 RPM. And um so that's about 600 more than on the very first run. And I'm not doing anything different. I think this engine is just bedding in. And uh I mean it feels lovely and free now. It did feel a little bit tight when I I first got it in the test stand and and turned it over, but I have got a model in mind for this. And um it it's going to be a while before I build it, but I've got the plans and I've I have got in mind that a a 1cc will be just the ticket. I will have to put a car in it, though, I think. But anyway, really enjoyed seeing this run and I hope you've enjoyed watching.
Thanks very much.
