Now, here's why that happens. If you stroll slowly for an hour, your heart rate barely rises. Your arteries feel very little mechanical stress, and you're just not getting any intensity. Your metabolism barely shifts. You're moving, which is better than sitting, but your body is not adapting to anything at all. There's nothing to adapt to. However, the way you walk matters far more than how far you walk.
The one thing that changes everything, intensity. Your breathing should increase. Talking should become a little bit harder. That's when your arteries and your metabolism start to respond.
