DCP in final tallying as Ol Kalou primaries draw tight contest ahead of July 16 race

[00:00:00]Officials of the democracy for the citizens party DCP are locked in a last minute vote tiling exercise in the all constituency party primaries. The closely watched primaries attracted large crowds across the constituency. The eventual nominee is to face Samuel Mushina Nyaga of the United Democratic Alliance UDA and yet to be declared Jubilee candidate among others. And that is in the fourth coming July 16th contest. Citizen TV's Ben Kiri has more from Walko.

[00:00:34]They streamed into polling stations early Saturday morning across the five wards of constituency as nine aspirants battled it out in the democracy for the citizens party DCP party primaries young and elderly voters alike turned out in large numbers with participation notably higher than what was with nest on Friday. and the young man should know these are the ones with the words behind us we are the people we promote but the young man should know and the young man should know those the person will know that this one will manage us this one will add us good senior DCP officials express satisfaction with the voter turnout saying residents had responded positively to the party's called to participate in choosing the candidate who will carry the party's ticket in the upcoming by election there is a certain procedure which is more mature than the procedure of the multi-party system here in Kenya. So I have been here and what made me so happy since morning is the fact that so many young people showed up and the fact that they have believed that the future belongs to them.

[00:02:17]You can count on DCP that if you are an aspirant or if you are a voter that there shall be no rigging, no corruption, no mal practice and everything shall be done according to what is required in law.

[00:02:29]Several aspirants said the high turnout was an indication that all color voters were eager to shape the outcome of the race. vowing to mount vigorous campaigns ahead of the fiercely contested election. We have all agreed that whoever wins today's election, we will all support him.
