The segment masterfully bridges the gap between complex fluid dynamics and public engagement by using pop culture to demystify atmospheric divergence. It proves that scientific rigor and accessible storytelling are not mutually exclusive.

I think the middle child thing really does apply at least to the Brady Bunch.
I remember all these shows in the Brady Bunch about Greg, Marsha, Cindy. Yeah. And who was the little guy?
Um Oh. But Peter. No, Peter was the middle child.
>> Peter was the middle one. So, there wasn't much >> Bobby. Bobby. Bobby, that's right. Thank you.
>> and Jan, it's like they're forgettable.
Nobody cares about Peter and Jan.
>> I have to be honest that in our family, there's definitely a middle child thing.
And who is it?
>> Celia. Yeah. What about in your family?
Is there middle child tendencies for your middle? I I think you I think you create them to fulfill the You kind of think they're there. So, I I I would say no, but maybe if I look for it. Yeah.
And I have an older brother.
I have an older sister. I was the baby until I was 15 and my older brother was 18 and my sister was 19, and then my parents had another one. Wow, are they crazy? I know. So, I don't know if that counts as middle. I don't think so. That's a big difference.
>> [laughter] >> No, you're more like the spoiled youngest, I think.
>> Yeah, there you go. But, my older brother, who was the middle, yeah, he shot. He's nuts. So, there it goes.
>> [laughter] >> It goes with the whole thing. All right, let me show you this. So, our temperature's now in the 50s. We're going to talk about Jan Brady, who is the middle kid. So, uh high temperatures today, there they are in the 60s. Could stay in the upper 50s when the rain arrives in our western counties, but you can see a lot of wave clouds over Dick Engling in Pottsville. So, number one is heading our way. You can actually see this what we call divergence when the upper atmosphere splits apart like that.
It pulls air in and that causes condensation and circulation, and that's what's coming our way. Number two is colder air, that's going to be sagging in after the rain. So, there was that one little shower. Look at how that thing is pretty much gone almost. If you have anything to do, because I know Mindy she loves to go and get Entenmann's buns at the local bakery and just eat them. She'll eat them in the parking lot so no one can see her. I see her cuz I know the security guy here and we look at her in the camera.
And she'll walk into the building eating the buns. So, she's wondering, can I walk to the building at noon without getting wet or the cinnamon What do you What do you like? The sticky buns the most? I just get the day-old ones that are on sale.
>> Okay, so you will be fine, I think, up till noon, 1:00, but those buns are going to get sticky and wet after about 2:00, 3:00, 4:00. That's when the rain is coming in later in the afternoon. So, you could probably get a lot done here, folks, and those yellows and reds indicate some downpours and maybe some thunderstorms. That'll be this evening, and then that whole thing is gone by tomorrow morning. That's the good news.
Then, we dry out a little bit tomorrow in the afternoon. I'm liking it. So, for today, we could see an inch of rain, but mainly late in the day, ending overnight tonight while you sleep. So, a dry morning and early afternoon, then the rain moves on in. Look at the dynamics here. Tell me you There's no way you could be alive and say that is not interesting. Look at all this upper atmospheric energy starting to sag southeastward. So, this is what's heading our way after we get rid of that. Think of this as Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. It's all about her. Everyone forgets about Jan.
So, her hair and this Marsha lobe swings in. This is going to be the dominant force that keeps it chilly here through Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, but also mainly dry.
The only thing that can happen in this is the sun comes out and you get these passing self-destruct showers. So, that's Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
She's still pretty much there, and that's going to be below average temperatures. But, we can handle 50s, right? So, let's go back to tomorrow.
Sun comes out, you might get a passing shower. Look at Friday, same thing.
Marsha's on top of us. Sun comes out, boom, maybe a passing shower. This looks worse than it's going to be.
These are 10-minute showers. So, you can handle that. The steady rain is this afternoon and this evening.
After that, we're done. So, you've got 6 to 10 more hours. What are you going to do with this dry weather?
Sticky buns, cinnamon buns?
Mindy, what are those big long slender ones I see you eating all the time?
So, I saw her come to work once. She had it wrapped around her neck. It was like a scarf. Wow. Yeah. Was it like a pretzel? Well, you tell me. You're the one that buys these [laughter] things.
Always day-old? Yes. Well, she'll come in and it'll be around her neck like this, and I saw her just go like this.
And then she has it dangle there. It's like a kielbasa. I don't know how she does it.
Anyway, rain and thunderstorms mid-afternoon right through the evening.
And then mainly dry Friday, Saturday, Sunday, there will be a few scattered showers, but you can handle that.
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha is in charge.
Let's talk about it.
This might sound weird, but you know what? I'm in for a I'm in for a tickle talent tickle. Here we go.
TICKLE, TICKLE, TICKLE, OH. And there it comes, the egg.
We're going to ask Carrie, who is in the control room, to answer this because she didn't see this yet. Carrie, >> [sighs and gasps] >> what has a greater value?
Our average high temperature this time of the year or Jan Brady's age in real life? What do you think is higher?
She thinks Jan Brady's age is higher.
So, Eve Plumb's birthday is today from The Brady Bunch. She played Jan, and our average high temperature is There she was then, and here she is today. She is now close to our average high. Average high now 67. She turned 68 today.
I wonder what she's celebrating today. I bet you she sits around and everyone ignores her.
They have a birthday cake for Cindy.
They have a birthday cake for Marsha, and then she just sits there and they're singing happy birthday to everybody else, and she's just there like this.
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. So, it's all about Marsha. There she is. How long will she stay there? Indications are now that one wing of her hair is going to swing through with a shower Monday, Tuesday. Hopefully, she backs up here and we can warm up a little bit by the middle of next week.
Until then, it's all about Marsha.
That's your cool period after the rain this evening.
And we'll keep it in the 50s right through Sunday, but I think the mid-60s will come back next week, and that's pretty much close to normal. How far do you have to travel for those Entenmann's buns? Is it bakery nearby or what?
It's only 45 minutes. It's not a big deal. Do you go to the outlet? Yeah.
Okay. Obviously. See you.
We're looking at some news headlines for you right after this.
