AP Statistics 2026 FRQ Predictions + Tips

[00:00:00]The AP stat exam is tomorrow, so hopefully you guys have some studying.

[00:00:03]But if not, don't worry. I have a full 50 minutes stat video going through every single topic in the curriculum and everything you need to know for this exam. But anyways, in this video, my name is Dear Hiagi and I'll be going through the AP stat FQ predictions I have for tomorrow's exam and also going through my tips for the FRQ section for stats. So to start, right, the FQ section for the stats exam, it's 90 minutes, six questions that are worth 50% of your test score. There's six questions. the first five questions they're worth 15% each and the last question is worth 25%. So the first question these first five a little easier last one's obviously a little harder because it's worth a little more.

[00:00:39]So the first question it's exploring data right the idea is you basically have a data set either one variable two variable and you kind of just need to talk about that data set the second question is collecting data. Here you need to basically describe how you make an experiment or like a study to collect data. Third question is probability self-explanatory. Fourth question is inference. So units six to nine are inference units. And so this question basically asks you to make an inference um based on one of these types of inferences. Fifth question is multi focus which basically means it combines multiple units together. You can see here here are some old combinations they have from before. Usually some kind of inference question combined with some kind of um you know one to five topic.

[00:01:23]Okay. And the last question this is the kind of oddball question. Uh this is the investigative task question which basically means that they're going to provide you a situation which you haven't really studied in class before actually you haven't studied in class before and the idea is they'll tell you a little bit about the situation and you have to basically figure out you know what do I do in the situation that's new to me which is why it's called investigative okay so looking at the data right my predictions are for the first question right it's pretty solidly going to be either a one question right one variable data or two variable data right we can pretty safely say that because it's exploring data and they've all been one or two except for 2024 which was kind of an oddball year. So my prediction is it's going to be actually I think it's going to be unit two this year because they really haven't done unit two in a long time. So I feel like they might go back to doing two variable data or if it's not unit 2 then it's got to be unit one. One of those for the first question.

[00:02:16]The second question it has to be unit 3.

[00:02:18]Again 2024 was an odd year. I don't know what they were doing in 2024, but you know, unit three, right? It's going to ask you to design experiment for sure. I think it's going to ask you to identify variables and stuff, right? Variables, treatments, stuff like that. Question three, if you look at the table, right, it's probabilities, so it's got to be unit four. Not sure what they were doing in 2024, but it's got to be unit four.

[00:02:43]And I'm thinking that they might also add in, right? So, I think it's unit four. I think discrete var discrete random variables is going to be the probability topic because they really haven't done that before in a long time and it could also be a combination with plus five with with a normal distribution. I think they might like throw that in there as well but that's just my kind of prediction.

[00:03:06]Okay, four, five, and six are a little bit more of a um unexpected surprise I'd say. So question four could be any of these inferences, but unit 8 and 9 only two to 5%. Which is why I'm going to guess it's either unit six or unit 7. No joke. But I think here it's going to be unit 7. And the reason why is because they really haven't done unit 7 in a long time, right? It's been unit six mostly. So they might throw unit 7, which is a big part of the exam, right?

[00:03:31]10 to 18%. So I think unit seven question four is gonna be unit seven t test question. Or if it's not that, I really don't know if they're going to do unit six. I think they're going to save that for this one. I think they're going to do kai square maybe. So, unit 8.

[00:03:45]Then for question five, again, this is where it gets a little unsure. They might do a unit six proportions question and they might throw in like probability into that as well. Probability and proportions or I think they could also do maybe unit a kai squ and then maybe throw in something with two variable data, right? With kai squ. So that could be also a thing they do as well. But again, not really sure. Could be a lot of things, but those are my guesses.

[00:04:15]Okay. And finally for question six.

[00:04:17]Question six is hard to predict because this is kind of the question where they provide a new topic that's on the curriculum for you to kind of like predict and guess. So I'm guessing again this is a really big guess, but I think it's going to be unit five and I think it's going to be some kind of simulation.

[00:04:33]Again, this is kind of the oddball question. I really don't know. I'm saying unifi five because I didn't say unit five for the other ones. So I guess maybe unit five. So again just to read predictions unit two or unit one right one variable or two variable data for the first question. Second question it's got to be unit three some kind of experiment. Unit four for the third question with discrete random variables and maybe throw in unit five in there as well. Question four I think it's going to be either unit 7 p test or it'll be kai square unit A. Then question five if it's unit 7 I think it'll be unit six.

[00:05:02]Maybe throw in unit four is there as well. Or if it's not kai square for this one, it could also be kai square for this one I think and plus unit two. And then question six, I think it's going to be unit five simulation question.

[00:05:14]Again, last couple predictions aren't, you know, 100% sure, but those are just my ideas.

[00:05:21]Okay, so now let's go over some tips for the FRQ section.

[00:05:26]So the first tip, right, is for every question in stats, every FRQ question, you absolutely need context, right? The worst thing you can do is just to not provide context and lose points. So always provide context and add detail, right? You have plenty of time for this test. You have 90 minutes. 90 minutes is more than enough time for this test. So please, please, please add a ton of detail. Add a lot of, you know, words, right? You really want to make sure you get all the points, especially context.

[00:05:53]Context is really easy. Make sure you get those points. Okay. Next, you got to master the sentences. So, make sure you know how to analyze the data and how to actually put that in words. So, know the sentences. I'll have that in the description below. So, check those out.

[00:06:07]I have a whole PDF of the scripts and stuff. So, check that out. But, um, you know, master sentences and obviously know your conditions, right? When can you do the inferences and stuff and know how to describe the situations, right?

[00:06:20]That's kind of a given for Q.

[00:06:24]Okay. And again, know the inferences, right?

[00:06:28]Um, I think inferences are kind of sometimes like a little hard to remember because it's kind of a lot of them, but make sure you really do know them. You study those inferences well. And also with this, know the task verbs, right?

[00:06:40]Um, you can look up the task verbs on Google, AP stat task verbs. Study those.

[00:06:45]Make sure you know like how much you need to provide for each type of verb they ask you.

[00:06:50]Okay. Okay. And the last tip is to answer question six last. And the reason why I'm saying answer question six last even though it's worth the most amount of points is because it's the hardest question, right? It's something you've never seen before. And I don't want you guys getting like scared or anything. So answer the first five questions, which you should know how to do hopefully.
