After the failed Beer Hall Putsch in 1923, Hitler served five years in Landsberg prison where he dictated Mein Kampf to Rudolf Hess; his early release in 1924, which he celebrated as a victory, marked a strategic shift from violent revolution to legal political maneuvering, as he concluded that to win the German people's support, he needed to operate strictly within the legal system.

Five years in Landsberg prison.
It was enough time to work out a new plan. He dictated his political satire to Rudolf Hess. Its title was My Struggle.
Or in German, Mein Kampf.
After 9 months, Hitler was released.
>> He was an old offender.
If the court had not been insane enough to release him, then he would have had to be in prison until at least 1929 or 30.
And then it would have made no difference.
>> His next attempt to come into power would succeed.
After all of this, Hitler celebrated this shameful event as a victory.
Though Hitler failed to achieve his immediate stated goal, the event gave the Nazis their first exposure to national attention and a propaganda victory. It was while serving his prison sentence at Landsberg that he and Rudolf Hess wrote Mein Kampf.
Also, the failed coup attempt changed Hitler's outlook on violent revolution to affect change. From then on, he thought that in order to win the German heart, he needed to do everything by the book, strictly legal.
