Chronic online living, particularly through social media and news consumption, creates a distorted perception of reality by constantly exposing individuals to negative headlines and doom-and-gloom narratives, which can lead to feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness; people who spend less time online and more time engaging with real-life experiences tend to be happier and more at peace, as they are not trapped in echo chambers that reinforce negative worldviews.

the world isn't horrible...you're just chronically onlineAdded:
I think reality is not as bad as we make it out to be. I think that we exasperate all of our problems and think, "Oh, it's just so over." Like, I'm not going to say we don't have problems. We do. We go through our own stuff. We have our own faults. And the government, society has put a lot of roadblocks, obstacles, you know, systems are kind of crumbling as we get there. But even though these problems do exist, I don't think it's as bad as we make it out to be. We make it out to be that it's like it's over. It's it's so over.
That's that's our generation's slogan.
It's so over, bro. It's just you can't do anything about it. It's it's we're doomed. We're so doomed. Don't even try.
And while a lot of people would say that's just reality, that if you have any sort of hope, you are just coping. I don't agree with that one bit.
If you go into real life, right, you get offline, you stop watching videos permanently all day and you go out into whatever a store, a grocery store, you go out and and you see people in real life and you talk to them, what you'll realize is a lot of people, especially that are older, and I'm going to get this out of the way right now. Some people are going to say, "Oh, it's cuz they had it so much easier and this and that. That's why they get to be happy."
It's like, okay, that might be a part of it. But these people that are so much less online, they're way happier. They're way more at peace. They're not thinking about, oh, is is the world going to end right now?
I'm so worried everything's so hor. No, they're they're just existing and living their life and enjoying the things that they enjoy.
And they're happier. They're so much happier than all of us that are permanently online in these communities in these echo chambers where we're just like, "Oh, it's over. It's over. It's over.
It's over." That type of energy, of course, it's going to get you to believe and feel like there's nothing you can do. You are powerless.
The world is in control. You are not.
And there's nothing you can do.
I think it really is social media and the online world. As much as, you know, we blame this and it's it really is the thing that people say, "Oh, it's social media. It's the damn." It's true. It is that damn phone. It is social media.
It's the reason why so many of us we live on this in this online reality. And in online reality, what do we what does it say? Oh, we get the worst headlines possible. We're constantly being being told the world is evil. The world is horrible. It's over for you. And so of course that's what you are going to that's what's going to be in your mind reality. That's the reality you are going to exist in and live out.
But then again even though I'll say I'll give into this too right and I I'll talk about negative things and I'll say even though yes these problems do exist I don't think they define you in any way.
I don't think that they do. When you meet someone that is your age or similar to your age that they just have this energy, you know, they don't really have socials, they're not online very much.
They are the most happy people that just give off this energy to you that you when you are around them, it just uplifts you. You're like, "Wow, look at this dude. This guy's real happy. He's doing things that he enjoys. He's he's working hard. He's he's [snorts] chasing his passions. Like, wow, look at him.
this I you just get that life, you feel that life energy from them and and it makes you happier, more at peace to be around these people. But then when you're around all these other people that are so doom, doom and gloom, it's just over.
When you're around those type of people and all they talk about is the problems of this world and oh my gosh, like did you hear about this and that, that brings you down and you start feeling like crap, you're like, oh, the world is kind of in a horrible place right now.
Well, there's there's not much hope, is there? It is very much the people that you surround yourself with, but also just the communities that you surround yourself in online, how much time you spend in these digital worlds. It's not real.
It's not reality.
But we convince ourselves that it is.
The more time that you spend online, the more that you will come to the conclusion that it is over. Because that's the sentiment and let me tell you that is what sells. Negativity sells.
That is what is profitable not only for content but for products, right? They want to make it seem like you need this thing. You need this piece of content.
You should watch this because there is some sort of comfort and and a crowd mentality of wanting to hate, wanting to think that the world is over, wanting to think that everything is so bad. There is a weird comfort in that. When everyone groups up and gangs up to hate on something, that gains way more attention than somebody making some video about how this product was really good or this video game was really great or something good just happened. Like they're they're covering a good deed.
That's why on the news you see it's all negative. There are no positive stories.
And even when there are, that's what people are less interested in. You know, you go like, "Oh, that's nice. That's sweet. Let me let me see the next thing about the war. Let me see the next horrible thing that this hospital got bombed.
Dude, you can tell how much they're trying to drain your energy in life.
They want you in a perpetual state of negativity because that makes you consume more. It gets you into this mindset of it is over. So, why not just indulge as much as you can? Why not just play the video games all day, scroll all day because there's no point, right? So, that's how they trap you. That's how they drain your energy in life.
And so many people, I've talked about this before, but I think politics are stupid. I think modern politics are so stupid. And [snorts] the real problems they never get talked about. The only things that get talked about are the most nonpro things that people get aggravated and angry over. It's like, oh, immigration, a this. It's like, dude, we have one in three people in the US are obese and we're talking about some of this this bro. Like, we we have to let's wake up. Come on.
This is modern politics nowadays and I think it is so stupid and that's why I think you shouldn't get into it. You shouldn't get into politics. You shouldn't be chronically online. This stuff is going to make you depressed.
I don't care how strong willed you are.
It's the same way with lust. If you see a bunch of hot chicks every single day on your feed, you're going to goon. In the same way that when you see the most horrible story every single day, like constantly, the most horrible story in the world, breaking news, breaking news, breaking news, someone just got shot, like it there was a mass shooting, there was a a school got bombed, and you're just like, "Oh my gosh, your brain wasn't meant to handle that. Your psyche cannot handle that." And so it goes into thinking it it's like this constant fight or flight. Like it's it's so over.
This world is horrible and evil. And I'm not saying evil doesn't exist. I'm not saying these horrible things don't happen. But your brain was not meant to constantly be infused. It's constantly being sold and marketed and pushed the most horrible stories, the most horrible content products, all negative, all about the evil in this world, all about, oh, this thing sucks.
Your brain was not meant to handle that.
And I know people will constantly say, you need to be updated. You need to be this, that, that. No, you don't. Every single person that is the most political and updated and they're all like, "Oh, I'm doing such a good." They're not doing anything. All they do is sit on their ass talking on Twitter all day twiddling their thumbs, not taking any sort of action in their own life or for the political causes they seem to care about. And so, let me tell you right now, do not indulge in any of this idiocy, in any of this content farming.
It is life farming. Everything is content nowadays and you have to be able to see through it. It is not for you. It is to make you negative. It is to make you think that there is no point in doing anything so that you stay in this cycle that makes everyone at the top the most money. Watch all their content, buy all their stupid products.
And that's how they control you.
You need to escape from this. Like we have to wake up.
Stop living online. That's really the answer. Being chronically online is what will get you to that point. You will take no action and you will have no hope. And you know this is true when you go out into real life. People that spend less time online, people that actually do things, enjoy stuff with their life, aren't constantly worried about nuclear threats and the wars going on in the world and actually care about themselves and what they're doing in their communities and their family around them. Those people are so extraordinarily happy compared to maybe you or or the the chronically online person people that you know. They are so much more happy and at peace. And that energy that they give to you, it makes you happier. And so why not be that person? Because it does not benefit you to be chronically online, to be constantly updated on news. It doesn't benefit you in any way. Your brain was not meant to handle that. And so you got to unplug, take a step back, get off the socials as much as you can, and live in reality and life as much as you can. And what you'll realize when you start living in reality more is that reality is not what it's made out to be online.
That this online world that you are in, it is the online reality. It's not real.
It's just this madeup place where people are saying this bad thing is happening.
The world is so evil, this that it's you can't make it. It's horrible. And then you go into real life and you and you think to yourself, "Oh, wow. Nature is quite beautiful. Oh, I I really do like this person here. I like talking to them. Oh, I I found out things I enjoy and I like spending my time on." And so when you start doing that more and you're more present and in the moment, you actually have this childlike joy again, you'll realize, oh, the world isn't as bad as it seems. My community isn't as bad as it seems. The people around me, they're not as bad as they seem. And yes, this might be ironic coming from me because I will talk about these problems. And these problems, yes, they do exist, but they just aren't as bad as as we like to exaggerate them to be. They aren't.
So live in real life more and you will see that. Reality will show you that there is more hope in this world than the online world makes it out to seem.
