Brett's Wednesday Morning Daybreak ForecastAdded:
Your most accurate local forecast starts now with meteorologist Brett Thackara.
Hi everybody. Well, the clouds moving in here. A nice sunrise over the airport, but they will fade. The sun will fade, I should say, as the clouds take over. And we do get some rain today, especially this morning. A breezy day again, too.
You can see the cameras already shaking out there. Cooling down Thursday and Friday. And then looking ahead, more showers this weekend, unfortunately, for Mother's Day weekend. Although I do think Sunday is trending warm and fairly pleasant. Here is Willow Hill. Cloudy skies waiting on the rain in Franklin County. And it is coming in as we speak.
In fact, it should be raining soon in Franklin County. This is a quick hitter, though. It's going to move through. It just take a few hours. It's generally going to be light rain. And then as it exits, you know, the rest of the day looks okay. Probably about a quarter inch of rain, but less than that, I think, in most spots. Temperatures locally are in the 60s. 68 in Harrisburg. Hasn't fallen much.
I mean, we were sitting at 70 when I came in in just after 3:00 a.m. So, temperatures remained mild here. And a little bit cooler where it's raining in the west. Cooling down by about 5° there. And we've got warmer warmer temperatures here than yesterday by about 5°. Lancaster, the exception.
About 12° warmer. So, again, it's a mild start, but temperatures are not going to climb that much. 68 this afternoon with some rain. Maybe a lingering shower this afternoon, but I think after lunchtime, most of the rest of the day will be dry and breezy. Mostly cloudy tonight. Stray showers could linger overnight with temperatures in the 40s. I think, though, this evening looks dry. If you have plans, it's going to be cloudy.
It's going to be cooler. You might want the light jacket.
But if you're trying to fit in some outside things, you should be able to do it, even though it may still be damp from this morning's rain. But it's all about this morning. This is coming in from a front. It's almost like a clipper system. That's why it doesn't have a lot of moisture with it. More moisture down into the south. But you can clearly see where this front is. It's already through Chicago. And when we look at the temperature chart, too, yeah.
Notice Chicago only at 42°. That's over 20° cooler than us. Denver. Look at Denver. 30°.
So, it is cold in some parts of the country this morning. Warm in the east.
We're going to kind of hover in the 60s today and then drop into the 40s tonight. So, a cooler start to the day tomorrow and then a cooler day.
Excuse me, with highs only in the 60s.
So, it really is going to feel like it has tomorrow and Friday.
A bit of that chill in the air. Unlike yesterday, when it felt really nice and we got to 81. So, the rain moving on through by lunchtime, it's out of here.
Could there be another shower this afternoon? There could be in spots. Even into the overnight, there could be a couple of showers lingering around. Not a big deal. And then tomorrow, again, we clear things out. It looks like a decent afternoon.
Pop-up showers possible on Friday with some instability, but very weak forcing.
So, again, I think for the most part, after this morning, we're done with the rain until the weekend. And you can see pretty fiddly amounts. This is not going to end the drought for us by any stretch here this morning. Breezy conditions today will help to dry us out later. I think a light breeze again tomorrow at around 10 mph. Same deal on Friday, but a little bit cooler because the winds will be coming from the northwest.
So, the extended outlook shows if you do have weekend plans Saturday, that's going to be the day where we see some light showers on and off throughout the day. And then Sunday looks dry until Sunday night now into Monday morning.
That's our next chance of rain until next Wednesday. So, every few days, we're getting some rain, but it's light rain. And I don't think it's really going to make that big of a difference. It's also going to cool down. Low to mid-60s Thursday and Friday. Light showers on Saturday.
Mother's Day will warm up.
76. That's a nice day for Mom. And I think the rain holds off until Sunday night into next Monday with temperatures cooling down again into the low 60s. So, we're going to be riding about 10° below average here for the next week.
So, I hope you got outside to enjoy yesterday.
>> Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. All right.
It was great.
>> [laughter] >> Let's take a
