Dark clouds moved over the national capital as showers spread across several areas accompanied by gusty winds of around 30 to 40 km per hour. The India Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for the day, warning residents to remain prepared for thunderstorms, lightning, and stronger wind speeds that could even touch 50 kilometers per hour in some areas. The sudden weather shift was triggered by an active western disturbance which disrupted the hot and dry conditions prevailing over North India in recent days. Officials said the system reduced temperatures within hours. Delhi had remained under heatwave alerts earlier this week with daytime temperatures ranging between 42 and 45 degrees C in several pockets. The showers also bring relief from high humidity and stagnant warm air that had intensified discomfort across the capital in recent days.
