Kārlis Ulmanis watches Communist parties gain strength across Europe and decides to act first. He stages a bloodless coup, suspending [snorts] parliament and banning political parties. He builds roads, factories, and schools while preaching Latvian nationalism. For 6 years, he rules as the father of his nation, convinced he's the only thing standing between Latvia and Soviet tyranny. But Stalin has been watching, and in 1940, Red Army tanks roll across the border.
