And after Neville is saved by humans who haven't yet turned, he manages to cure them with his own blood as he is immune because of a vaccine that he both made and used. A selfish act to save himself is now turned into a selfless one. His blood is now the only way to save mankind, and in the end he dies trying to save everyone, and most importantly, the woman he loved.
