The Nile provided water, food, and fertile land, helping the civilization grow and become one of the greatest in history. The rulers of Egypt were called pharaohs. They were considered both kings and religious [music] leaders. One of the most famous pharaohs was Tutankhamun, whose tomb was discovered almost completely untouched in 1922.
Another famous ruler was Ramesses II, often called Ramesses the Great.
