[00:00:03]The water gun, the waterproof bag, and the goggles that you bought 4 days ago can all go into the trash. But, wait.

[00:00:10]Isn't that a little bit wasteful?

[00:00:14]According to the Thai government, Khao San Road [music] produced 141 tons of rubbish during last year's Songkran.

[00:00:21]That is 31% of the total annual waste for the district. With a 6% increase in tourism this year, this could have easily skyrocketed. Fortunately, though, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, or BMA, has introduced a nifty environmental solution. Instead of being dumped in landfills, water pistols can be transformed into plastic pellets.

[00:00:42]These pellets can then be used as a raw material in the manufacture [music] of almost anything, from flower pots and chairs to even clothing. The BMA worked with regional waste management companies to install recycle bins on Silom and Khao San Road and in Benjakitti [music] Park. So, what was Songkran's waste?
