CHINA Is NOT What We Excepted 🇨🇳 FIRST DAY 瑞士一家人游历中国Ajouté :
Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
Bye-bye. Bye-bye. So, we're staying here a few days here in Laok Kai. We're still in Vietnam, but that's about to change.
>> So, guys, uh this is the train station in Laokai. By the way, Laokai is like right at the border to to China. Chungo and we're trying to get there is mostly used as a you know starting point or as a transport hub for people to go to a sappa but also people to go to China.
But mo most of the time you see foreigners here is like in the afternoon because they're taking the the train down to Hanoi. We don't have a visa. We don't need a visa because we're Swiss citizens and we don't have any booking, no no reservations. So, we're just trying to, you know, hopefully get let in by the authorities. Let's see how that goes. I did download a VPN. I've been paying for it. Uh, so I can use YouTube there so I can show you our Chinese adventure.
All righty. So now we have to walk down there 1 1 kilometer and then we're at the immigration post. Now it's actually quite a nice place. I mean it's not much going on but still it's it's not as bad as other border towns are.
And some border towns are bad. This is the the Red River that comes down from China and we have to cross that river and then we're in China.
Bye-bye, Vietnam. Bye-bye.
Ready to go to China?
>> Yes.
>> Yes, you are. All right. But they might not have a carnival beer there. Oh, I'm like about to piss myself. I have no idea what to expect. You know, like the media tells you like how bad and evil China is, but I don't think that's true.
I think the media is lying all the time.
But we're about to find out if they let us in 30 in the morning. I think in China it's an hour later or is it earlier? See, I have no idea. To cross I I won't be able to film, of course, but let's see. This is the immigration. We have to go out here. And then over there, you see the Chinese letters? That would be the immigration of China. And these buildings there are Chinese.
>> No, thank you.
Um, yeah, we're not changing money.
Hopefully, that was a good idea. I did download Alip Pay. I don't know if it works. I do have to get a SIM card anyway. But anyways, I'm going to be shutting down the camera right now. Oh, the dark china.
Let's see.
Stamped out of the country. Out of Vietnam. Check it out. First Chinese temple? I'm not sure. And this is the next stepping stone. You see there's Chinese signs everywhere. So whatever you see there on the other side is China and yeah we're crossing here actually the arm of the Red River and I'm kind of excited.
Are you guys ready to go to >> I'm >> China? I'm quite uh yeah excited.
>> I am too. Everybody ready to be maybe rejected? Let's see. It's cool, guys. It's called the Red River because it's a red of the blood of the capitalist.
>> All right, guys.
>> Welcome to China, actually.
>> Is it cool? It's made into it, right?
>> Uh we actually made it uh well uh through the fault of our own. the the arrival card was a little bit of a problem with filling out, but it's not not really their fault fault. I mean, it sucks to fill out that form, but anyway.
So, there was no questions asked really.
They did ask us, you know, where we're going, what city, and and and if we have a flight out or like onward ticket, which I declined and made just accepted it. And wow, it's pretty pretty damn cool. And you're you're here in China. You see all the Chinese. But still there you can see lots of Vietnamese riding because Huh. It's cool, huh? Yeah.
>> But because it's, you know, to the border of Vietnam.
>> Wow. So, China.
And actually, everybody was very, very friendly.
>> Oh, man.
I assume that lots of these people are Vietnamese people, but I suppose lots of these people also are Chinese people and there's another actually family. Well, a woman with her her son who's a Russian lady. I talked to her inside. There was no filming inside, of course. But hey, guys, we're in China.
Isn't that cool?
Pretty cool. And then check out with these lanterns there. I'm sure that's cool at night. But anyway guys, I I do want to show you more and yeah, this is not at all how I imagined it and it went so smooth and like the people working immigration officers which usually are not nice. Well, depends really. And here they're very nice, very friendly, very um yeah, so first it my arrival form it declined because it had somehow took me for a Puerto Rican and there was only like a visa number or an emergency entry for 24 hours or something. And I said, "Dude, I I I'm here for 30 days." And then we we figured that out. And you know, but it's cool to be in China.
That's all I can say right now. My wife just mentioned that we're the only whiteies here except for that Russian lady with her son. But yeah, I've not seen a single one where I think this is not like the most common way to enter China.
Right. We're in Yunan Province where are which actually has offers lots of things I I think but it's not like Yeah.
Apparently there's lots of tourists in Vietnam. Apparently, not many people take this border into China. China.
>> I'm not sure.
>> The lady just gave him some stuff.
>> Look what it is.
>> Look.
>> Anyway, guys, so we we have to organize a few things. We have to get some money.
We have to find a hotel because we're spending a night here, of course. And then tomorrow, we'll probably travel on.
>> It is cool here, you know. I mean, I must say I I think I mentioned that before.
Vincy took it out >> prawn thingy. Wait, but I think this is spicy.
>> Yes, it is spicy.
>> M.
It's right here.
>> It's spicy.
>> It's spicy. You're not going to like it.
>> You don't like >> You like it?
>> Yeah.
>> It's actually It's good, but it's it's quite chewy. Our first Chinese food in China.
>> You like it? Smells a bit like but >> spicy. It's spicy.
>> It's a bit like tuna.
actually good proteins.
Our first meal of the day 11:00 Chinese.
>> Go.
>> All right. That's a very different dog.
They don't have a room here, but I asked her where I can find a an affordable hotel here. So, my Chinese is not not really very existing.
>> The flags have changed from Vietnamese into Chinese.
>> Oh, this is like a like a Chinese fast food restaurant.
>> A This is cool. We don't understand the word.
>> Ah, wow. I want to see >> burger kung fu.
>> Wow.
>> That's cool.
>> All of these except for this one. It's from Vietnamese.
>> All of those vehicles, cars, schoolers, they're all super quiet because it's all electric.
See, you can hardly hear anything.
Well, there's a kid screaming. That's the loudest. Or my kids are are loud.
And of also there's lots of cameras, you know, as I predicted everybody was not as scary. It actually is not scary at all.
Yes, he's got um like a regular motor.
So, not everything not everything here at the border uh or to the in the in the at the border to Vietnam. Not everything is electric. But you notice lot of electric vehicle. Wow. Meow.
Julian.
It's okay. I tried.
And you? No. Me working here.
No. No. Well, nobody's there. Oh, but Jang Jang.
Well, there's nobody here, but I suppose we would find a room here.
a hotel and I mispronounced it. He was like did not understand a word and then he pronounced it differently but obviously very similar and then is like all melted.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Ah >> do you have a hotel a room with two big beds?
Okay. He's not working here.
only a standard room with a bed of 1.2 m. The single room is a bed of 1.5 m with only one bed and there are two or two rooms of 1.2 m bed a single standard room and a bed of 1 m 2 is 70 yuan a room. It's a bit the communication thing, but it's working out just fantastic translator. I have to get one of these.
>> Pay this with Alipe, >> which is one of the online I I don't know what to do.
>> Actually, it works. That's my first Alip pay me. I mean, you could have paid cash here. I mean, see, there's another thing that they tell you in the media, they say in the Western media that there's no uh no cash, but it's not true. There's still I mean, of course, well, let me use the word uh convenient, but of course, it's not. It's a I do not support this, but I'm visiting China, so I'm doing it. Anyway, let's go up to the room and then after get something. This is the bathroom. There's no bung on here. I hope. Well, there's a shower was actually okay. It's an okay room. It's there's like a cupboard here, which is not it's not like it's not the best of.
It's a bit dirty. And we have this room here, which you can do some exercise here. And then I can look outside to the nice hotels. Anyway, so see this it's like it's not not super clean, but we have two beds like two queen beds, but actually very small. Oh, there's Peppa Pig. But it's in Chinese.
>> It's in Chinese.
Anyway, so we have some water, we have a kettle, we still have Vietnamese coffee.
And yeah. Well, let's um miss after get some rub, baby.
All right. This this um is like is what's this? 71 yuan, which is like Well, it's like eight Franks. Uh call it $9 between $9 and $10. So that's uh US.
It's quite cheap. It's not like Yeah, it's actually quite cheap. I mean, it's not that great, but you know, our own internet here. Uh, and yeah, we there's no YouTube. It's just surprise surprise, there's no YouTube in China, and I'm a YouTuber. It's kind of sucks, right?
Now, of course, if you have a VPN, >> you can.
>> It's not 100% illegal, but it's not like super legal either. I don't want to get into it, but I do what I do, right? So anyway, yeah, just wanted to mention that they're cleaning our AC for some reason. That's the master master helper of the hotel. Well, the AC is not very good. I didn't complain. They just came here, knocked on the door, and said, I don't know what a little coffee here. Vietnamese coffee.
What I'm doing, I'm watching Chinese TV.
But basically, I'm watching TV.
I I did ask that guy before if I can change. I mean, they also have like like movie channels and all or like like a Chinese version of um YouTube, but it's all in Chinese. I mean, maybe I could translate it or change the language setting, but he doesn't know about that.
So, we're learning Chinese now.
And now, ouch. And what we need now is a bank. And we need to get a SIM card.
And we're getting stuck in this road here, which is kind of weird.
H. Let's see. There is a money changer here. So, I'll change our our Vietnamese dong into Y. Give me my money. They they do not ch change my 5,000 dong. So, I have to keep them as a souvenir. Maybe if we go back to Vietnam, we'll have a big party on these $20,000.
>> That's not even $1.
>> No, it's not a dollar.
>> Ah, she they like counting your money. I get 481 yan, which is, you know, 50 bucks or so. They have actual coins.
We got the ma money. And just like in in Vietnam, there was a poin on everything.
And here is Maong on everything. Huh?
You want some money?
>> Yeah.
>> Officially in China now. China, baby.
Yeah.
This mouse is a little Didn't he like Well, let's not talk politics. Okay.
Loaded. Not really, but a little bit. I just saw some whiteies. They ignored me.
What you going to do? Anyway, check out this beautiful Chinese street. And probably most people are probably Vietnamese.
>> Yeah. Yeah. You see lots of them here.
Get some food.
Don't matter what. Just something. Ah, dumplings. What's it called? What are they called in in in >> um at his works? Really? They they had some dumplings there. No idea. This is a strange strange place. Oh, what is this?
I think this is not running really yet.
This is all empty.
These guys are drinking beer maybe.
Yeah, this is not This is like a I think this evening evening a dinner party.
Guys, this is cool here. Check out there's a tree in the middle of the street and all the Chinese riding everywhere. So, now we're in like proper China.
Ah, got some dumplings here. And think is here. Ah, here our food.
>> Yeah. Ah, >> hello.
Very good.
Very good. I got some sauce with that.
Some soy sauce, maybe. Mhm.
Oh. Oh, cool.
How do it is? Yes. Check it out. Guess it's very hot.
>> Is it good?
>> It is very hot. Don't >> take a big bread.
>> Okay. It's very good.
>> I was filming and I did not um press.
>> Anyway, so let's let's take some sauce.
I see soy sauce with some very good first food. No, second food, you know, actually. But Oh, there.
>> Yeah. So this is with chu with pork.
I asked if it's nuru but it's not busha.
It's chu pork not beef.
That's my the extent of my Chinese.
Very good.
>> Very good. A cat. Chinese cat. Hello, Niha.
Check out what a be. This is very odd.
What? We just went to one of these convenience stores after that great meal.
>> Mhm.
A Chinese cat. Very nice. Anyway, so uh still haven't figured out what we've eaten. Well, we have to bring something to the kids. They didn't want to come along. And yeah, well, there's more like garbage like well even nuts here. Some kind of cool drinks. I don't know. It looks like there's a tank here in the street.
Is that really possible?
Not sure if I'm supposed to film this.
There's an army guy walking.
That's kind of weird. dog going to get the groceries.
That's actually weird.
Weird. This is like an alpaka.
>> Is that alpaka?
Hello.
Oh, hello.
sugar.
That is that is the weirdest the weirdest first impression you can ever get of any country except for if it's Peru.
This a alpaka is this is just a >> a sushi restaurant. Are they not confusing something?
This is weird. This is a Japanese restaurant and they have an alpaka.
Maybe they think alpaka are native to Japan. Or maybe you you know you can you can eat a cat here. Maybe you can eat an alpaka here.
This is an alpaka, right? I think so.
Well, guys. Wow. So, we have to find some edible for the kids and maybe then later we'll go and have a Chinese dinner. H. This is the first day for us here. It has been a bit much, but we do like it. And we do also realize that uh yeah, whatever we knew about China from the media, not really true.
>> I don't know. This is like some kind of a convenience store.
It's a bit weird the things they have here.
Yeah, we don't get any of that. We we don't understand how China works yet, but that's actually something we we approve of. We like that. But this is all like strange sweet stuff.
Buy for the kids some instant noodles. I mean, this this one time because we usually we don't eat that crap. But like for a transitional meal, that could be it. I just paid again with cash, but they have to have to take out the cash box, but usually people just take pay with the, you know, whatever the apps they have. Interesting. As soon as I have a SIM card running, I'll be doing that too, actually. But I like the way they keep their cash.
We ego kilo.
Okay.
>> Bananas. These are big Chinese bananas.
>> That's okay. She'll know.
>> Oh, so the cash is king here.
>> Huh?
>> Bananas and a bunch of orange. Chinese banana and Chinese oranges for like I don't know two bucks or two and a half.
I I don't I don't understand the money yet. These Chinese bananas >> which are brown on this side and yellow on the inside.
>> I want to try some.
>> You want to You want to try a Chinese banana?
>> Here you go.
>> It's a Chinese banana. It's yellow on the inside.
>> It's not working.
>> Oh, it looks good. This a fancy banana.
We haven't had these baked bananas in a long time.
>> Open this.
>> Moment of truth.
>> They're yummy. Big >> juicy. Maybe the wrong one, but good.
>> Yeah, it's not worth >> Chinese orange.
>> Let's try this.
>> Try this.
>> We don't.
>> I don't want anything.
>> This?
>> No.
>> Meat.
>> Good. No.
>> Tastes awfully a lot like a Vietnamese orange.
>> But good.
>> Oh, it's a lot.
>> Very good.
>> Let's try that.
>> These instant noodles. Of course, we know this.
>> Huh? Good. Is it good?
>> Oh, hot actually.
the spicy one because my daughter >> is not eating it properly.
>> It's actually much better. Much better.
Anyway, yeah, I'm done >> again a little bit. It is weird, I tell you. I have to get a SIM card. China Mobile 5G. So, let's go and try it at that shop. Okay.
Not sure if we get a SIM card here or SIM card.
>> I have to go to China Mobile. Apparently the China mobile. Let's go and try to get a SIM card right here. Ah, >> maybe >> no go. But now I lost my See, there's actually CCTV cameras everywhere.
I mean like everywhere.
Be it. It looks like it.
>> Finally made it to the right place.
There's so many shops that say China Mobile, but not everybody gives you SIM cards. Here they do. Hopefully, it's working. Uh the China Mobile, uh it didn't work in the beginning. I had to turn my It's very hard for us because we're like so Google centered and like everything around Google is blocked. I mean, if you have a certain VPN, you can still access, but still it's a problem.
And which makes me wonder, you know, like why are we so dependent on something like that. It's nice here. Uh we've not seen so much. Uh we'll try to find some food and then we'll call it a day. And it's probably a long video already. Red River on the on the other side is Vietnam.
It's kind of cool.
These are ducks. Duck and pork.
>> Well, where to eat? Let's have some food here. This I think this is pork. And they're almost out.
>> Ah, okay. Okay. The rice. All right.
>> Ah, okay. Okay. Okay. All right, guys.
We have to get the rice here. I I ordered a few things. Uh, really only a few because they're they're almost out.
But anyway, let's try. All right, guys.
Let's uh let's try this. So, you get the rice, you get the whatever the meat and the >> What is that?
>> This is actually very good. These are beans.
>> They don't give you any any any spoon.
Let's just do it like this.
>> But actually, this this green stuff.
Maybe we'll get some more of this green stuff.
>> What is that? I feel tired.
>> Anyway, and then there's What is this?
There's this vegetable with the meat.
>> Try some.
>> I think I think this is pork.
>> Let's try some of that. Oh, this is good.
>> It's not chicken. It's pork.
It's good.
Well, I'm not going to get into that.
>> That's good food. Do you like it?
>> Yes.
>> Yeah. You want some?
>> How are you going to eat with a with a with the sticks? It's going to be >> Anyway, this is good food. I'm going to Yeah, we're going to sit here. I'm not going to film the whole thing.
>> I like it. What? What do you think? Is it good?
>> It is good, right?
>> Yeah.
>> Enjoy.
>> You want some beans?
>> Sh.
It was very simple, but actually it was very good.
>> Was it good, right?
>> Yeah. And it was only 21 which is like less than three bucks.
Yeah. So that's quite affordable. I was had some some meat even with we had a second serving and she didn't really I don't know how I don't know how this is controlled. Anyway, so we're going to have a dessert and then it's getting dark eating places here. We could have also eaten here.
What's this?
>> Strange foods. Look at that bird there.
>> Whatever. I don't know.
>> These insects, bugs, little bugs.
So, yeah, they do eat lots of strange foods as well. Like these little birds are kind of pewed.
>> Oh, wow. It's a pineapple.
>> Pineapple with rice on top.
>> Yeah. Cool.
is nice.
>> All shiny. And for dessert, this is we know this is mixway right in saw this in Vietnam and I think even Thailand or Well, how is how is the Chinese ice cream?
How is that? That that that Chinese ice cream. It's a good one.
>> Yeah.
>> We have a >> Chinese ice cream. Cheers.
>> Stay there.
>> M. It tastes almost like Vietnamese ice cream.
>> Actually, it's very creamy.
>> Very good.
>> Okay.
>> Anyway, guys, you want to say bye-bye?
>> Bye.
>> Bye. Bye.
>> Call this a show. Tell you want to say bye-bye.
>> All right. Bye-bye guys. See you in our next video.
Ice cream is 21 which is I don't know like 30 cents something like that.
