The video effectively demonstrates how modern automotive complexity creates a fragile interdependency where a simple voltage drop can mimic a total systemic collapse. It serves as a sobering reminder that even the most advanced digital architectures remain entirely beholden to basic chemical energy.

FIXING MY IN-LAWS VW GOLF R WITH RS3 PARTSAdded:
Right. Okay. We're back with the Golf R that you'd have seen uh in the last video, I think it was. I tried fixing it and pretty much made things worse. So, today is the day that we hopefully get it fixed. This is pretty dodgy. Me and Baz have got to drive this to Sheffield to go and see Tom Parker from TCP Performance, who is an absolute wizard with golf. I've ratchet strapped it down with three straps. So, this bonnet technically shouldn't go anywhere. three straps fail at the same time, then this car is cursed >> in all honesty.
>> One excuse on it so we can look through it if it does.
>> So me and Baz are going to attempt to drive this all the way to Sheffield, which is about an hour and a half and hopefully nothing goes wrong. But I guess we'll bring you guys along to find out.
>> Look at the state.
>> They're shouldn't. Yeah, I'll just give you my card.
>> Go anywhere.
>> This is probably one of the stupidest things we've done, but we've kind of got no option.
>> One of >> Well, the >> one of many that we do.
>> That shouldn't go anywhere if we just take it slow. Let's find out.
>> I got that.
>> Well, the bonnet's currently we're doing quite well so far, aren't we?
>> At the minute.
>> What are we doing?
>> 61 milesPH and the bonnet is uh looking quite sturdy, but warning lights. You've just come up with a good kind of theory.
Obviously, it's got the vent in the front, so a lot of the air will be coming and going straight out. So, it's probably not putting as much strain on the bonnet as one would have thought initially, but >> that's my theory.
>> That's your theory. I think it's a good theory as well. If people haven't already commented that, >> yeah, maybe >> there's the beamer and hopefully we get there with no problems whatsoever. 50 minutes to go.
>> Any words?
>> Let's not crash.
What a great looking car that is. I want one of them.
>> Oh, nice.
>> I need a drink. Well, we're now 37 minutes away and we forgot because of all the bonnet thing happening. The initial problem was the ABS faults, but Baz has just mentioned they've not come on the dashboard at all yet. So, if they do, at least we can show them how it kind of happens. Uh, and if they don't, then it's just weird how it kind of comes and goes and it's so >> demon car.
>> It's weird, isn't it? It's really weird.
But we've been driving how long? About 30 minutes.
>> Yeah.
>> And it's not come on yet. So, >> give me time.
>> Yeah, give it time.
>> Yeah, give me time.
>> Well, we are 3 minutes away and the lights have stayed off. You can't actually make it up, can you?
>> I don't know what it is. Why?
>> It's so This is This is why it was so kind of difficult to diagnose because it doesn't it's hard to catch it. But hopefully where we're taking it, it will be uh it'll be able to sort it. But yeah, we've uh we've made it and the bonnet has stayed down, which is thank thank God for that.
>> Right, the golf bar actually made it without the bonnet flying up and the traction control lights coming on. But we're in the safe hands of Tom. Nice to properly meet you, mate.
>> Nice to meet you.
>> He is going to be fixing the golf. If there's anywhere that this should be coming to get it fixed, it's here. So, we're going to leave it with you and Well, you're going to diagnose it, fix it. Yeah. Do you reckon you already know what it is, don't you?
>> Yeah, I'll be able to fix it.
>> There we go. Happy days. Right, let's uh cut to when we're picking it up.
>> We're back down at TCP and the golf is fixed. It needed a bit more than we thought, didn't it?
>> Yeah, it needed a few little dash bits.
Not serious, just common problems.
>> It needs driving. That's that's that's been after the problem, man. You can tell it just needs driving. So, yeah.
What What's it needed? So obviously it came in for bonnet lock were locked and coil packs were seized. Uh common problem these golfs and this MQB problems. Yeah.
>> Um it all sort of can fault. Uh we're losing power.
>> Um we checked everything. We checked ABS. We checked the front radar assist.
Everything was fine. Uh and it was all down to a low battery.
>> That's mad. How crazy.
>> Yeah. How sensitive.
>> Did you say what battery was on it before?
>> So like a Tesco branded battery. Tesco branded batteries.
>> A VA battery, a VW one.
>> Is that an OEM one? Yeah.
>> That's mad. How much could that have been even causing? Do you know if you're just driving normally and the battery is just faulty? That could just cause everything to come on the dashboard.
Could >> Well, yeah, because obviously if it loses power, it loses canvas as well.
And obviously this car speaks canbust every module.
>> Oh god. Every module just like can fault due to power all the >> Jesus thing, would you through a battery?
>> No, it's crazy. That's the I I could have been changing every sensor on that and it's just the battery. Easy as that.
But saying that, it's a good job that went through everything else with all the other problems.
>> Whoa. Yeah. So, >> and and all the all four of them coils.
>> Yeah. So, all four coils are seized in.
We got them. It's not a big job. It's just a job in it. Snap them all out.
>> So, it's got RS3 coils in it now.
>> So, it should be an extra cylinder now.
Th000 brake.
>> There we go. They don't They don't make much of a difference, do they?
>> No, you won't notice a difference.
>> Yeah, you won't notice a difference.
Obviously, just they're just better.
Obviously, usually when on match cars on stage three cars, the Golf R ones do misfire with them on.
>> So, we put the RS3 ones on and never had one problem. I put them in all my stage three builds, never have one problem.
>> Oh, yeah. Oil and fill. I put a picture of the of the old oil fil. I don't know what company or what brand it was.
>> I didn't know where we got it from.
>> I can't remember.
>> You I'm blaming you.
>> I'm blaming Jessica.
>> I'm blaming blame.
>> But the oil filter literally like collapsed on itself.
>> Yeah. So a lot of BMWs are the same when you're not putting on gen filters in them is they suck itself in. Yeah.
>> I mean how how long until you reckon that would have done the engine.
>> So it's an odd one because obviously the harder you drive it, higher the oil pressure goes up. So that's when it sucks it more.
>> Probably lucky that it's not being driven hard or it's not being driven frequently. So it's all good to go then.
All of that just because of a battery.
>> But if we just replaced the battery, we wouldn't have noticed the other faults wouldn't come along.
>> Yeah. Obviously, it needed logging either way just to make sure what what the problem could have been. Obviously, I've seen the same ABS fault before when the four-wheel drive is not working, but four-wheel drive seems to working.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, the Holdex has been serviced not long back >> cuz it had the the diff oil changed not long.
>> Yeah. Yeah. So, that's that's been serviced not long ago.
>> AC.
>> So, hopefully that ACC needs calibrating, which I doubt it cuz we have a calibration file which you couldn't have.
>> You've had that?
>> I've had that. Yeah. With um >> Max, what's his name?
>> Dips.
>> Yeah. dips did that.
>> Um, so we'll bring it back in about a week. Drive it around. Drive around.
Stack some fault codes up if it hasn't got any. Yeah.
>> And then I can rescan it.
>> But at least now it's like >> sorted.
ECU's flash fully stock. So like there's no clock codes in it at all.
>> Happy days. So it's had a proper good refresh of >> and then what actually is in fault when you come back is actually what's in fault and not just some stupid.
>> Yeah, true. Very true. Happy days, Tom.
>> Absolute legend, mate.
>> Bro, anytime. Absolute legend.
>> Thank you. Cheers.
>> Right, let's go. Uh, have some fun in the golf.
>> Yeah.
>> It's been a few days now since we picked the car up from Tom's. What's your verdict?
>> Perfect.
>> Runs better now than it ever did.
>> It's I mean, the way the car is running is amazing with all the extra upgrades that it's had, but the main thing is the lights haven't come up on the dashboard.
So, what we're going to do now is scan it through using Carly and see what we want to see is no faults on the ABS control module. If there's no faults on it, then this is fixed because even when the lights weren't on the dashboard, it still came up with the ABS fault. Now, we're going to be using Carly. And if you haven't heard of Cari, it is a manufacturer level diagnostic tool that you can literally plug into your car.
And it offers manufacturer level diagnostics, coding, customization, live data. It does literally everything. And you saw how big it was. You can take it anywhere with you at any time. So to use it, all you got to do is download the Cari app, plug the Carly device in, turn on your ignition, and click connect.
Easy as that. So, it's now scanning all of the cars control modules, engine control module, ABS control module, all of them to find out if there's any stored errors or any codes. This thing will literally tell you everything at the side of the road. Okay, for us, we want to hit diagnostics because we want to see if there's any fault codes on that ABS control module. Come on, please. Please, are you going to be happy if this is fixed, Baz?
>> He's just smiling.
>> Right, the results are in.
>> Roger.
>> It's found 17 control modules, 17 ECUs, five issues found.
>> I thought I was going to say 17 faults.
No, no, only five faults found. Let's click >> show results. The ABS has passed.
>> Nice.
>> Zero faults whatsoever.
>> Flaming time.
>> So, the other issues on the engine, which we know about exhaust valve because it's got the backbox delete.
Exhaust valve two, open circuit, that's cuz it's got the backbox delete. They're the only faults on the engine. So, the engine's passed. Air conditioning, fresh air recirculation, air pressure, >> whatever, >> windows down, and something to do with the steering wheel. P locked signal, something or other. But the main thing is the ABS is working how it should.
>> Perfect.
>> That is a sigh of relief. They are not the only things Carly can do. Like I say, you can do live data. And if Baz wanted to, he could turn on the American style front lights. It could turn off the seat belt B pin. There's so many customization options you can do with Carly. So, if you want to grab yourself one of these and start diagnosing your car and save money, then I'll leave the link down below in the description and you can grab yourself a Carly. Start it off.
>> He loves it.
>> He's like a big kid in it.
>> Grow up.
>> An old kid.
>> Right. Let's go. Right. Let's go. Let's go.
It's quick, isn't it?
>> It's definitely better. Have you got any more plans for this then? What we got planned for the Golf F? Or is your GTI took over now?
>> GTI has took over and it really >> GTI has took over a little bit.
>> Um, I think apart going apart from if you went I don't know two, stage two, stage three then.
But for someone my age, do I really need to be going stage two, stage three?
>> I reckon you big turbo the GTI instead.
>> I know.
>> Does this need to be any faster for a road car? Do you know what I mean?
>> It's quick enough. I mean, stage one anyway.
>> Stage one >> had all the upgrades on it. The RS3 stuff, hasn't it?
>> Yeah. 300. What's What's stage one on these? 360 horsepower.
>> It It It's perfect for the road, isn't it?
>> I don't think it needs anything more. I don't know.
>> Who knows?
>> Well, >> you can always say more, can't you? You can always say, >> "Yeah, I'd like stage two, stage three.
I'd like a big turn, like intercooling."
But we use this as a daily.
>> Very true. This is used every day, isn't it? pretty much.
>> So, and it is it's not it is quick. It low its own.
>> I've always said around 400 horsepower, I think, especially with this having all-wheel drive.
>> Yeah, >> it's like the perfect power for a road car.
>> Yeah, it's quick enough. And where can you do the speed the speeds anyway?
>> Well, that is very Tom will disagree watching this.
>> I know.
>> Tom will disagree with his thousand horsepower go, but yeah, I think it's it's it's about right.
>> Don't get me wrong, I would love >> someone like Tom's. I would love carbon fiber. I would love the big turbo. But >> you've got to ask for permission on this one.
>> Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
>> Sounds good as well, doesn't it?
>> I know.
>> It sounds really good.
>> But the GTI that we're getting back, um, that's just standard. I mean, if anything, if anything, I'd probably do the GTI because >> Yeah. of what hopefully what it's going to look like. I haven't seen it. Well, that's the next topic now, which is going to be the next video on the extra channel. A massive, massive video. I've surprised Baz at Christmas with a full respray for his golf. Now, we booked it in for just a normal respray and then he decided and found a color that is absolutely insane. And as you guys are watching this now in 2 days, in fact, no, as you guys are watching this, you've already picked it up. Let's get it right. Two sleeps.
>> Two sleep. He's like a kid at Christmas.
>> It's like Christmas.
>> I haven't I haven't seen it. I've seen it stripped.
>> I've seen pictures, >> but I've not seen it. And the color, you can pick the color, but when you're not seeing on a car, you can't visualize it.
>> No, it looks unreal.
>> Absolutely unreal. And the thing is with your GTI, once it's come out of Custom Paint Works, there's not much exterior that needs doing on that car. Do you know what I mean? Like you've had you've even had your smoothed off bumpers.
You've had your smoothed off like bump stops on the side or whatever you'd call them. Like appearance-wise, >> it's going to be completely different.
>> It's it's pretty much completely >> not completely different, but it'll look different, which I with the color and the wheel color and all that. I always said that I didn't want the GTI to look like any other car on the road.
>> Well, it don't now.
>> No, that's true.
>> It don't now. how it is proper.
>> I didn't want it to look like and I mean fair play to everybody that wants their own color and silver wheels and so it's just not me.
>> Yeah.
>> I just wanted something that >> turns a bit heads. I want to sit there somewhere and watch people look at it.
That would be my satisfaction.
>> I can promise you people appreciating it >> after seeing the car. Well, I've I've seen it half built at the moment like with the boots and doors off and stuff like that.
>> It is going to turn some serious things.
Really?
>> Yeah. The color is >> is ridiculous. I've only seen it in like artificial lighting. I've not seen it outside in the in the sun yet. But honestly, the color is amazing.
>> And I've chosen it off a Japanese YouTube video.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Which Well, we can't give away the color just yet.
>> No. No. Of course. No. But it's a color that when we first got the GTI, that video came to fruition and I was like, that's I'd love mine to look like that or similar.
>> Yeah. And it's turned out that that's the exact color you've gone for.
>> Yeah. which is >> which is a surprise.
>> Yeah. I mean I guess the next thing for the GTR when it comes out is um like performance >> really.
>> Yeah. I think the only thing that'll need attention when it comes to the engine bay, but >> that's if I'm going to be lifting the bonnet and stuff, but yeah, performance.
>> But that can come in time.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> It's um >> now with the weather turning as it is, it's time to enjoy it.
>> Time to Where are we going? We're going to go out a few things, aren't we? Yeah, we'll take it.
>> Take it to the We can take it to the ring, aren't we?
>> Take it to the ring. Yeah, that that'll be a good trip. That but yeah, it's time to enjoy it. It's been away for a while because it needed a lot more work than we thought it needed.
>> Yeah.
>> Um >> and they've done they've gone and they've excelled as well.
>> Honestly, I can't wait for that video to go live.
>> I know. So sick. Well, that is the Golf R all fixed. And a massive shout out to Tom. I'll leave the link to TCP performance in the description down below. Now, a quick little update on the channel. I just wanted to give you guys a bit of an ending to the story of the last video when you seen all the problems come on this car. So, if anyone does get a problem like that, just check your battery, see what voltage it's holding, and just see what's going on with it because it could be something as simple as just changing the battery or as simple as just changing an ABS sensor. It's a little bit of a weird one, but thank you all for your comments in the last video on trying to help me fix this thing. At least it's all good and sorted now. But yeah, a quick update as well. The main channel of course has been a little bit kind of slow recently.
You've all seen the video probably on the unit situation. The good news is we've managed to secure a unit. And this time it's my own unit. It's got its own door. It's not shared. And it is it's going to be sick, it actually can't wait until we can get the keys for that. It's currently It's not this one, by the way.
It's currently kind of being finished.
It's pretty much going to be a brand spanking new unit. I'm the first one moving in there and I've kind of it's turned out as a blessing in disguise really. And a massive thank you to you guys for helping me out and just supporting everything I do and putting me in the position I am to be able to just send it and get a unit and sign a 5year lease on the thing because we're just going to go for it and it's going to be good. So yeah, that is all to come soon. And that will probably be the next channel, the next main channel video of moving all my stuff out of my old unit into the brand new unit, which I'm so excited for. But yeah, thank you so much for watching this video. The Golf Bar is now fixed. We've got a new unit to hopefully move into. And the next video you guys will see on this channel will be Baza's Golf GTI reveal in its new color. It looks absolutely insane. And as we're filming this, we're going to pick that up tomorrow. So, if you did enjoy this video, please like, comment, and subscribe. I'll see you in the next one.
