He famously was a theorist of water. He thought water was everything. Now, this is such an abstract nonsense idea, says some people, that they came up with this anecdote in which he was so far his head in the clouds looking above that he couldn't even see what was beneath him.

This is representative of a very common tendency among philosophers and all academics to get so deeply into thought that they can't even look in front of their own eyes. The irony is how can anybody investigate anything when they don't even know what's in front of them? This is a pretty big problem. Think about a computer scientist. He has to fulfill algorithmic research, think about uh supply chains as well, and yet he may not even be able to feed himself.
