Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that breaks down the proteins in Jello, preventing it from setting properly; this is why pineapple Jello cannot be made with fresh or canned pineapple, as the enzyme will cause the Jello to remain liquid instead of solidifying.

Piรฑa Colada Jell'O Dessert๐๐ฅฅ #shortsAdded:
Pina Colada Jello dessert. We start by emptying out our pan here and I know it's tempting to make your dessert inside but today we're going to use pineapple Jello and I'm going to explain to you why we cannot use pineapple with our Jello because it contains an enzyme that breaks down the proteins in the Jello preventing it from setting. So if you try this at home with fresh pineapple or canned pineapple, you might have a disaster waiting for you as your Jello will not set.
Scoop all of our little Jello cubes.
We're going to place them into our can.
Place that in and you cannot have Pina Colada without some rum. Here we have some coconut rum. Just going to stir that into our coconut Jello here.
We're going to go and pour that over our pineapple. Just going to give it a little shake so it goes down into the bottom of our can.
And it's off to the fridge.
And we'll place this into the fridge to set.
Okay, now we have our Jello here. We're just going to lay that down.
And I'm going to take my blow torch and we're just going to toast some of our pineapple slices here. This is a little bit of extra flavor and it's also going to just look really great on the Now we're just going to cut some nice thick slices here.
You see this beautiful mosaic design here. We're just going to place this directly onto our pineapple.
Our last one right here and now we're going to add some whipped cream right here in the center. Jello and whipped cream go so well together.
Now some fresh lime zest for these delicious pina colada slices.
