[00:00:01]Bigger than sun? Definitely. Bigger than Earth? Easily. But the biggest stars ever discovered [music] are so enormous, they break normal human scale completely. One of the largest known stars is [music] Stephenson 2-18, a red supergiant located thousands of light-years away from Earth, and it's unbelievably huge. If you [music] place it where our sun is, the star would stretch past the orbit of Saturn. That means planets like Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, and even Jupiter would all be inside the star. [music] And maybe that's the strangest part. Even stars have limits. Because when stars become too massive, they become unstable. They lose huge amounts of gas, collapse under their own gravity, or explode [music] as supernova. Which means the universe can create stars so large, they swallow solar systems, but not forever.
