Well, here is what we are up to now.
The other day, um, I did some chisel plowing over here. I come over to chisel plow where they were spreading manure just around the edges of the field cuz we were supposed to get some rain.
And I finished out my day. This was after I did the seating. After I seated that alalfa, finished out the day. Ended up starting this field on our right.
I'm going to finish that here now. I just ended up coming back. I'm on my way back now from uh Kenworth. I dropped off a drive shaft section to Sarah's truck to have it balanced.
So, we ended up getting like 3/4 of an inch of rain. It was a little greasy here this morning and things have dried up here quite a little bit.
So, now there's the phone. We're going potential spam.
We're going to uh got a little excitement up here.
Let's see who this is on the phone.
Yeah, go ahead.
No one there. All right. So, we've got some stuff to put on the chisel plow parts. Got cops up there.
Emergency medical, whatever. So, they were spreading manure on this farm here.
And um I've got some parts to put on this chisel plow. And that's what we're going to do here. Now, it's a little greasy here. I won't be able to plow this, but I need to go down the road and get into that. So, we'll uh get after it here.
Well, we'll get started. We'll see how this goes. I had to put some hardware on here and replace a couple tips, but we'll go ahead and uh get after it. I've loaded up the uh box there with some extra tips and hardware. Now, we'll just get this thing fired up.
All right.
Well, we'll go ahead and get started here. I um but I came over here the other day. This tractor started hard. Almost like it had lost fuel prime. So, we'll have to see how this starts today.
Oil level is good.
Well, fired right up. So, no excitement.
So, what we're going to do is we're going to stay in this field for a little while.
They loaded the frack tank right in there. So, this section of the field here is going to be real hard. So, I'm going to chisel plow that now to take advantage of some of the moisture that we got here a couple days ago. And then we'll go down to that other field down the road. Finish that. I can't stay here and finish this because the rest of it where they applied manure is going to be uh greasy.
So, we'll do these this short round couple acres here and then we'll join up with you when we get this situated. We moved the frack tank out of here this morning.
trucks pulled in, offloaded onto it, and then they pulled out. So, yeah.
All right, we've made one and a half passes around this. I think I can plow this whole field. So, I'm going to go down and finish that other one just because I started it and I want to finish it.
Then we can come back to this one and we'll plow the whole thing.
We just jog down the road here half a mile and uh we'll finish that one field that we were in. That field that we were in was real stony.
So, but this is turning out pretty good over here.
Looks like we had a tent break off. So, I'll go ahead and uh see what this one looks like.
I don't know if it broke.
or if the bolts came out of it.
I see something shiny back here. So, there's the freaking phone again. Broke the bolts out of it.
Hello.
Yeah, turn it. Yeah, turn it off. And then um now now turn the turn the switch on that thing there to off.
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. We'll see.
Well, right when I got fixed up there, the phone rang and I couldn't get back with you guys. But I not only had one uh chisel plow sweep broke off, but I had four.
I had well three. Was there three or was there four? There was two or three other ones.
I just happened to uh see that shiny tip and uh I only went about 50 ft and I said I better go back and see what what that is and that's what it was.
So you can see this is this is real good and stony here.
We pulled up some mongrels right there.
Sometimes we offset disc this field.
Probably shouldn't have really got into it with the chisel plow, but we're getting there.
See if I see any more broken tips laying in the ground.
Think them tips are like $21 a piece.
So, it'd be kind of nice to wear them out instead of breaking them off, but we'll keep plugging away here.
And uh old 9320 is doing pretty good. Not the old girl.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat. Heat. Heat.
Heat up here.
All right, I've got one more little sliver pass here on this field.
And I ended up breaking five tips. I broke one.
Lost three and I guess I had one fall off.
One I recovered out of the five.
But on this farm, it's stonier kel here up on top. And you get down to the bottom out around that old cow barn.
There ain't any stone down there at all.
But this field here and that that one right next door.
And then we got a little bit down towards the bottom across from the grain bends.
They had a lot of big rock in there. And you can kind of see what's parked in the hedgeros here.
You can kind of glance across this field here too.
This field is borderline as far as being in here with a chisel plow. I pulled up a lot of stone, but um yeah, to get the stone picker something to do. Big one there and pile of them there.
Let's get them dug out.
And uh yeah, so what we're going to do now is we're going to go back to the field that we started in.
We're going to get that one. We're going to chisel plow that one. Then we'll go down to the bottom. There's a larger one up there, but I can't do that one. That one's too wet.
And Sarah's running a liquid manure spreader here right now.
had one of the guys had a tummy ache here this morning and he wanted to go home and rest.
So, uh, we had to switch things around a little bit and, uh, one of the kids is out of school now. He might run the crawler and the guy that's running the crawler might go take Sarah's spot. So Sarah might be coming over with us with that other chisel plow.
So maybe we'll get something done today after all.
Just looking over this chisel plow. I think I got a tip broken off my back right one. So we'll get joged up the road here and uh see what that looks like. It's that right one. I can't see it.
That might be on there. or might not.
All right.
>> Scooting in fourth gear before my red line. I hit 130. 135.
>> Oh, really?
>> Before my red line. I was scooting.
just by putting aftermarket oil filter on it. High performance.
>> Uhhuh.
>> Put my pens oil up in there. Synthetic.
And then I dropped in 1/3 of jet fuel in my tank.
Heat. Heat.
This spot right here is hard and the water likes to sit right in here.
If I could get scratched through it, might actually dry out.
Sometimes that actually works.
So, we'll uh see how we make out here.
Be a beautiful day.
little wet like right here.
Years ago, the trolley tracks used to go through here. I was in that other field combine a week.
Oh, probably seven or eight years ago, six years ago, and I grabbed a It was like a guide wire uh cable in the ground, an anchor that was sitting in the ground, and I uh broke the flex head on the on the combine.
So, we came over with the excavator. I think it was me and Nate, the little excavator, and we dug out like five or six of them.
They were long stakes that uh had kind of an a well, they had kind of a almost like a harpoon end on them. I I forget what the hell you'd actually call it, but um you push them in one way and then when they when you pull on it, they would open up kind of like an anchor.
So, yeah. All right, we're going to get after it here. This uh field uh had manure injected into it, so it's going to be a little moist, but there isn't much rock. There's a little bit of rock over on that edge there, but the rest of it pretty good shape.
I'll move right along here.
It's rolling up a little moist there. A lot of dry dirt there, too. So, walking right along in here now.
Trolley tracks went right through.
Right. right there.
We've got some land on the other side here where it goes on that one stony field there. That's it's like 120 acres in one field. And uh I've showed you that I showed you that field before.
And uh so we are west of that field.
All right, we are now down in here by the barn.
And what I'm doing, this was a hay field.
We had it sprayed last fall and it was injected. So, we can come in here with a pottinger and just get through this with a pottinger. But what I'm doing is we had the frack tank set up in this corner.
We had it set up here and then we had it set up over there.
So what I'm doing now is just kind of deep ripping the landing zone.
And then uh when it comes time to get in here and disc it, this will be ripped pretty good.
And you could see that there isn't any stone here. It's freaking There's nothing here.
This is probably the last pass that I need to make here.
Pulling real easy.
We got to go over on that side over there and uh rip that up. Sarah's on her way with the other chisel plow. and we had to do some adjusting on the hitch on that. So, when she gets here, we're going to take her over in that field on the other side of the road and we're going to uh Yeah, this guy wants to talk.
All right, we'll get this broke up here.
Sarah's here now and we are going to run up and grab the uh chisel plow. Where's your doggy?
>> In the tractor stuff.
>> She's just waiting in the tractor.
>> Yeah, >> you could trust her in there.
>> Yeah, she sleeps.
>> All right. So, >> yeah. All right.
>> All right. So, she said the air condition's working good.
that had that tractor had to get a compressor, air conditioner compressor put on it. Went to use it the other day to pull uh Andrew out with it. He got stuck the other day there that day that he ran uh spreader. I did kind of a video, you know, explaining where he's been and he got um stuck that day and we realized the AC wasn't working. So Jake came over and ended up having to put a compressor on it. So, we're going to let her get set up and uh we've got to level the hitch on that to make sure it's working correctly. So, we had some turnbuckle work that we did to that disc, and I thought I had it leveled decently in the driveway, but I didn't want to I wanted to uh get it in the dirt, make sure it was level in the dirt. So, when she gets down to the field here, we'll get her adjusted up and then we'll get back to doing what we're doing. and she's going to work on one side of the road. I'm going to work on the other.
And then maybe a little later on we'll get back with each other and work in the same field. But that's the field that we started in. This is up on top of the hill.
Then we've got this on this side of this back road is real stony. And the rest of this whole farm from here down there isn't a stone on it. So, all right, we'll wait for Sarah to get down here and we'll get that hitch leveled.
Oh, we've got to pinch the back of that down a little bit.
Heat.
Heat.
Yeah, it still needs a little more.
All right.
Trouble is we adjusted that because when you're traveling down the road, the back end would hit the road if you went into a dip.
So, we thought we could adjust it some.
It's going to fix our scap down.
We got to go a little farther with that.
All right, I think that's the third time we've adjusted it. Hopefully the third time's a charm.
And we got to go a little farther.
All right, that's the fourth time.
I think we're going to leave it there.
I got to see where the hitch is set on that other one.
That's pretty level right there.
So, yeah, that's pretty good right there.
All right, we'll see where the hit is set on that other one. It's really not going to make it too.
Well, maybe it would.
It was up higher on the tractor.
Thing is, if it's up higher on the tractor, then you still need to pull the back up.
I don't know.
But all right.
This is where we had the frack tank set up. So, this whole area right here is going to be really compacted.
And this whole end of this field is going to be compacted as well.
So, that's why we're chisel plowing these.
We're probably not going to chisel plow that one. And there's another strip on the other side. And we won't chisel plow the rest of this hay field either. We'll just try to concentrate on where the frack tank did all the traveling.
So, try to take care of as much compaction as we can.
Let's see here.
Yeah, that one there is in the bottom holes. So, we might have to try that.
moving the hitch to the other set of holes to get the front of the hitch higher.
That might make the difference. So, all right.
Well, we have done about all I need to do on this side of the road and we are going to call it a night.
So, I got a hold of Sarah. I'm going to run over and pick her up and we'll see what tomorrow brings. I've got got to look at the weather. I don't know if we're going to work on getting that rear end back in that truck or hers or if we're going to uh chisel plow here tomorrow. We've got rain coming and I'd hate to waste a day working on that truck and then we're not going to get the a bearing in until Wednesday.
So, we might wait till Wednesday to work on her truck, get that back together.
So, we'll go over on the other side of the road, pick her up, and uh head back to the farm.
So is that all right?
That ground is hard right there.
That seems to be pretty level like that.
That other chisel plow, the hitch on the tractor is in a different set of holes. And I was almost thinking what we would do. Oh, girl power hopping.
I better have the smaller chisel plow over here ripping this hard ground up.
We loaded the frack tank right about where the tractor is now. And it really hits this ground hard, pulling every load of manure in and out.
I guess we could gain a little bit by changing the front hitch around. You can see the back of the chisel plow when you're transporting is uh is low.
So, just going to let that cool down for a minute and we're going to pull on out of here.
Yeah.
She's got the crazy dog weather.
Oh, you got your girlfriend's all over.
>> You didn't wipe your feet off before you got in this clean truck.
>> Sit down, kid.
>> What do you think?
>> Yeah.
>> Oh.
>> What do you think about chisel plowing?
Huh? Yeah. What's better? You rather chisel plow or run the spreader? Huh?
Well, it gets a little rough in that tractor, doesn't it?
>> Yeah.
>> Huh?
>> A little.
>> Bang. Bang. All right. You ready?
>> You going to You going to behave?
>> All right.
You say hello. Say hello.
All right. Well, that's going to do it for this video, right?
You going to sign off?
Yeah. Sign off. All right.
Tomorrow's another day.
