Google Spark is a $100-a-month tax on the productivity-obsessed who mistake cloud persistence for genuine innovation. It’s a sophisticated way to monetize the "always-on" anxiety of professionals who value orchestration over actual execution.

Introducing Google SparkAdded:
Introducing Gemini Spark.
>> I just watched Google IO and Google announced something nobody really saw coming. An AI agent that runs while your laptop is closed, while you're at the gym, and while you're asleep, and it's called Spark, and it's coming straight for OpenClaw and Perplexity's computer.
Here's everything Google showed us, what it actually does, and whether it's going to be worth subscribing to. So Google CEO opened saying that Google's now focused on bringing agents safely and securely to consumers.
>> And what he actually introduced is Spark. It's a personal AI agent that lives within the Gemini app. But here's what makes it slightly different. It doesn't run on your device. It runs on a dedicated virtual machines on Google Cloud, which means as Sundar drops casually >> and yes, you can close your laptop. So, it's powered by Gemini 3.5, which is their latest model they announced, and something they call Google's anti-gravity harness. I'm sure the marketing team had a proper day with this one. But what it actually means is it's a system for keeping the agents running across long tasks. It's the same idea as what OpenClaw have with Heartbeat Demon or what perplexity actually have with persistent agent loops. But here's why this genuinely matters. Spark is going to support MCP coming in weeks, not at launch. But that's really good news. That's good because Google's adopting MCP means that Spark will actually be able to use external applications eventually, which is great news for connecting other apps.
Talking about apps, if you like AI tools or general productivity tools, jump over to toolfinder.com. It's the best place to find tools, save on them, and stay ahead like you are in today's video. So, do subscribe to the channel if you're brand new. Okay, so now to talk about some of the demos. Josh Woodward comes on screen, and the first thing he shows is a dashboard of background tasks, and that's a signal. It isn't a chatbot.
It's more of like an orchestration platform. And the Gemini app itself, you can see straight away, it's been completely redesigned. Let's not dive into that. Let's talk about the first demonstration, the email compile.
Compile everything about the recent Gemini Live launches and wins from the last week. So, watch what happens here.
It doesn't just write an email. It'll go into the docs, email, chats, and pull wins from the last week. So, the demo number two was a a quite a funny one. It was a neighborhood block party. Here's what's quite impressive here. They build a live Google sheet that auto updates when the neighbor replies in Gmail. It generates slides on hype deck and pulls a HOA rule from the PDF buried inside of Drive. Now, maybe a little bit overkill for a block party, but you can see where it could be helpful for a company function or something like that. So, Josh picks up the phone here and rattles off three tasks at the speed of his speech. find all the meetings with Sundar and turn them into all hot pink so I don't miss them. So he invites his neighbor John builds the kids ender school dock. So he adds two more tasks and as you can see the phone function works in the background even when the phone is off. So you keep making a comparison here to openclaw and perplexity computer. So openclaw runs open source runs on a machine and probably requires a Mac mini to actually get going. And of course, that's not including the tokens. While Perplexity Computer runs at about $200 a month and does still require to some extent a Mac Mini or a hybrid or local cloud system, what Google want to introduce here with Spark is is cloud Gemini Native and they're aiming for the entry point to be $100. So, let's look at the pricing and access. This is going to be available to trusted users this week. It's going to be available to US Google AI Ultra subscribers next week in beta. And the new plan will start at $100 in entry tier and the top tier plan will move from $250 to $200, a price cut, which is quite uncommon for Google. And they do plan this summer to move to Chrome to turn it into a full Gentic browser with Spark in mind, which means it will compete with Perplexity Comet and ChatgBT Atlas. and later this year for Android Halo, which means you'll have a dedicated home for agents on your phone.
So, so all in all, it's been a really big announcement from Google. And I think one of the things to be clear on is that it's got some really interesting abilities. I like the fact that you can shut your laptop, that you can bring MCP support in so that you can connect other applications, and the price tier is not completely out of range for those who will use it for that capacity. It's probably the most out of the box solution and one of the most ambitious thing I've seen on Google IO for some time.
